Chapter 383: Goofy

"Can’t say I’d rather be there right now, though." Raya argued while biting into a crunchy vegetable similar to a carrot. "I’ve done work for the government once, never again, hopefully."

"Right," Rina nodded. "They must be pretty bored there, huh? It must be stressful too."

"Yeah, I’m sure they’re having a shitty time right now." The younger sister sighed. ’Well, except if they start banging, I guess.’

"Except if they get closer, huh?"

"W..." Raya gulped. "Why do you say that?" She anxiously asked, feeling as if her mind had been read. "A-Anyway, space travel is usually really annoying and boring, so I’m sure they’re hating every second of it right about now."

"Right, right..."

"Huff... Huff..."

The atmosphere was thick with fervent competitiveness and burning fighting spirit.

Neither moved. Neither could afford to move, until the perfect moment.

"Gulp..." Roka wiped her chin nervously, both hands armed. "He seems to just be standing there, menacingly... But there’s something more. I can’t see a single opening. Any attack will lead to my defeat. A true master at work-"

"Shut your goofy ass up." Cero interrupted with a chuckle. "What is this cringe-inducing monolog...!"

That chuckle had turned out to be a grave mistake, allowing for the critical hit to the left arm. The pillow held in his left hand fell to the ground.

"Your arrogance will be your downfall," Roka muttered, trying her best to keep a serious facial expression and tone. "Just like it was the fall of many before you."

Thankfully, the mostly dark room made her face difficult to read.

"You know," Cero tightened his grip over the pillow in his right hand. "This kind of thing is exactly why you’re still a virgin at your age."

"WHAT?! YOU CAN’T HIT UNDER THE BELT LIKE THAT...!" Roka shut her eyes at once and took a deep breath. "Hmph... Well played." She muttered.

"What can you do without your right arm?" Cero shrugged while shaking his head. "It’s over. Give up."

"I will never give up." The pillow in her right hand had fallen, "Haven’t you heard? It’s not about winning, " But that only made her left hand hold onto the other more tightly. "It’s about how many times you get back up."

"Yeah?" Cero extended his right arm as if holding a rapier. "Let’s put that to the test."

"It’s a duel," Roka did the same. "To death!"

"Good luck fighting with your left hand."

"I don’t need luck," She smirked. "Because I know something you don’t know." Roka leapt forward.

"And what is that?" Cero asked as he countered her attack.

"I am not right-handed!" Roka answered as she ducked, allowing the horizontal strike to pass over her head.

"Huh?" Cero’s fighting posture went away at once. "Yes, you are."

"No, I’m really not." Roka shook her head.

"You mean you’re left-handed?"

"Yea."

"Since when?!"

"Uhh, since forever?"

"But you shoot with your right hand," Cero said with a frown.

"True," She nodded. "But everything else I do with my left."

"Is that so?"

"Yeah, yeah."

"What about masturbation?"

"Ha? Wh-" Roka sidestepped just in time. "Oh, you son of a bitch!"

"To death you said, no?"

"Dishonourable fiend. I should have known an alien monster wouldn’t have a shred of honor."

"Oof, hitting me right where it-"

The pillows clashed in the darkness like sturdy swords wielded by mighty masters.

Fighting someone using the opposite hand was no easy task, but neither let the other gain any terrain.

Roka jumped back to dodge, landed on top of her bed, and prepared to strike down.

The attack would have cleanly landed on Cero’s head, had he not used his foot to push on her ankle, causing her foot to slip on the blanket and Roka to lose her balance. She hurriedly took hold of his wrist, a move that allowed Roka to both block his hit and regain her balance at once.

This, unfortunately, meant letting go of her weapon, as she had lost the use of her right hand.

With only her heels in contact with the bed, most of Roka’s weight was hanging from Cero’s wrist. He couldn’t finish the fight. It seemed like the battle had reached a standstill, until...

"Hm...?" Roka raised an eyebrow.

It almost seemed like one of the pillows on the ground had moved.

"Cheater!" She shouted at once, letting go of his wrist, rolling backwards and out of harm’s way. "You can’t use those!"

"Huh?" Four tentacles, each holding a pillow, emerged from behind Cero. "Why not?"

"Because... That’s unfair!"

"Hm." Cero shook his head with a smirk. "I miss the part where that’s my problem."

"Oh, yeah?" Roka’s hand reached behind her as she remained crouched on the bed, four strikes approaching. "I’m gonna put some dirt in your eye."

"You-"

Roka flung her blanket at Cero, causing it to momentarily cover his face.

"Ugh." He shook his head while stepping back. "Talk about dishonourable."

"Everyone knows that the Heroine can be dishonourable if it means defeating the Villain."

"Nice double standards-" Cero frowned. "Ugh."

The Heroine had taken the opportunity to throw her sword in between the Villain’s tentacles, causing it to pass through them, sharp edges cutting those tentacles off.

’Oh, no.’ Roka anxiously looked around her, but no weapons remained in proximity. "The Heroine always ends the fight empty-handed anyway," She muttered, raising her hands.

"You’ll forgive me for not tossing my weapon away." Cero muttered back, raising his pillow.

"No one expects the Villain to do that." Roka shook her head, cracking a smile.

"Time to die, and sleep, Heroine Weeb." The Villain added, taking a step forward while cracking his neck.

"I will never die!" The Weeb declared with a chuckle.

A heavy silence set on the battlefield as each side carefully considered its next and final move.

The Villain, arguing that it was time to sleep, had lost the use of its left arm and tentacles, and was armed with one pillow.

The Heroine had lost the use of her right arm, and had no weapon.

Both inched closer, for the final exchange that would decide the winner.
