Reborn as a Weak Earthling, I Became the Most Overpowered Mage Alive-Chapter 44: Ch : Game 7 Starts - Part 1
"Emperor, we brought you a gift. Come out and check it."
Clara yelled as she skipped into the house. Her loud voice caused Emperor to quickly come out and give her an annoyed look.
"What do you want? Just what did you bring...? A puppet? What is a puppet doing here? How did it cross over?"
Emperor asked as he came down and wiped his hands before he grabbed the puppet. The unconscious being looked fragile to touch, but a lot of cursed power was hidden under that frame.
"We found him out on our walks. For now, we have no idea how it managed to cross over, but that is what I intend to find out. I will ask one of the fairy workers to make sure the puppet does not wake up."
Since the puppet was not considered a biological being, but rather a possessed item by the system, the fairy worker’s skills worked on it as well. And as such, it could keep the puppet in check.
"It...might be dangerous to do that. We should take extra measures to make sure the puppet is securely locked up."
Emperor added as he bought some items in the system store. He was running low on money, but he did not care since most of the basic necessities were being provided to him by Andrew already.
They took the puppet to one of the abandoned storehouses on the property before they locked it up there and layered the place up with seals to keep it locked up until they had a way to interrogate it.
"Hmm, why are we not interrogating the puppet right now? Won’t it be better to get it to spill all it knows now?"
Lilianna asked in a confused voice but Andrew just shook his head.
"I would like to take a look at the situation in the game first. Maybe we will know something that will help us interrogate the puppet better."
Andrew explained but Lilianna did not look convinced.
"I still think we should interrogate the puppet now, but if you are sure about your decision, then I will not say anything else."
In the end, they buried the puppet matter for now and went back to doing what they needed to. Another day passed and then another and then, it was finally time for game 7 to start.
The sky turned dark and all the lights dimmed. The world turned gloomy and everyone panicked.
"-what’s happening-"
"-nothing like this has happened before. Is the world ending?"
"What do we do? Can we run away?"
People questioned as they tried to find a way out. But there was nowhere for them to go in the darkness.
The only light source in the darkness was the system’s glow. It made people look like small blobs of lights as they all opened their system.
"Welcome, humans, to the next game. This time, it will be a game to find the exit. You are all locked in a maze and there is only one way out. Find it and you will clear this game."
The monotonous female voice explained to them and the system screen lit up with the instructions to follow for the next game.
[Game 7: Find the exit of the maze within 2 days. However, beware of the dangers the maze will present. And be extra careful of the shades inside there. They can take the form of your loved ones to fool you and attack you when you least expect them to.]
[Hint: To get your sight back, please play the dice game and win.]
"Huh-? A warning? What does that even mean?"
Clara questioned as she read the note in front of her. She had a small idea what it meant, but she did not want to make any assumptions needlessly.
"It seems like there are monsters that can take on human shape to fool us. We should be careful... should we decide on a codeword to avoid such a situation?"
Lilianna asked as she looked at Andrew, Clara, and Emperor. The glow of her system allowed her to see a little.
She tried to take a few steps in the darkness but got lost.
"Andrew, Clara, Emperor... is anyone there."
She called out, but there was no answer from anyone. And she had a sudden realization that she was lost.
"I... where am I going? Hello-! Is anyone there...?"
Lilianna asked once more, but got no answer. In the end, she had to keep walking until she hit a platform.
"What is this...?"
She asked as she looked at the platform. The system immediately gave her an explanation.
[Dice game. Roll a big number and get your sight back. Roll low and you will be leveled with a penalty. Would you like to accept this bet?]
Lilianna looked at the platform with an uneasy look in her eyes. She was not sure if she should take this deal or not.
But she had no other choice either, and this looked like her only way out.
"Alright, let’s do this. I can surely roll a good number..."
Lilianna assured herself as she reached for a dice and rolled it. Due to the darkness she had no idea if she rolled well or not.
[You rolled a 3. The opponent rolled a 5. You have lost this round. A penalty will be imposed on the player. Your speed will be cut in half.]
"I lost? Tsk, lucky gambler, my ass. If I were truly lucky, then I wouldn’t have lost this round."
Lilianna complained as she picked up the dice. She needed to try again and again until she got the results she required.
[You have rolled a 5. The opponent rolled a 6. You have lost this round. A penalty will be imposed on the player. Your strength will be cut in half.]
"Ugh, what a nightmare. What is this? Some kind of place I will always lose? How long will I have to go in...?"
She complained as she picked up the dice once more to roll. She rolled her hand over the dice, only to pause as she felt the barely noticeable pricks around the edges.
"Wait... do I really need to roll the dice? Maybe I can just..."
Lilianna turned the dice around and put it down.
[You have rolled a 6. The opponent rolled a 6. You have tied this round. No penalty will be imposed on you this round.]
’Ah, so this does work. I just need to keep going until this stalemate ends. Surely this will not last that long?’
