Chapter 123: Ch 123: Power Plant- Part 1

"Alright everyone, are you ready? We start in 3...2...1...go..."

Everyone looked at Clara with a tired expression, but her passionate eyes told them that she was not going to listen to them. So with a heavy heart, they all picked up the shovel and started to dig the ground.

"Why do we have to do so much manual labour? Are we the labour force or something?"

Jenna asked, but a glare from Clara made her work the hardest.

Since everyone was a player, their work became far quicker, and even more land was emptied in a short amount of time.

At this point, their camp had a lot more food than they needed. So they stored a significant amount of it for the future.

"We are saving a lot of money by providing all this food. I wonder how other shelters are doing? Do they have enough food and resources?"

Lilianna questioned as she picked up a ripe apple to take a bite out of it.

"Most smaller shelters would have either found another way or merged to form a bigger shelter and pool their resources. At least, that’s what the previous world was like."

Emperor spoke from the other side of the field.

Lilianna looked relieved to hear this, but she did not have long to think about it because Clara quickly came over to her to ask for her help once more.

They worked till the sun went down, and it was finally time for dinner.

"Ugh, finally! I was starving so badly. Should we head out? Huh...why is the light flickering?"

Jenna pointed out, and her relieved expression turned to one of horror as she watched the earlier lit house turn black.

The first thing Andrew did was check on the power supply. But it seemed stable, which likely meant that the power supply was cut off from behind.

"The power station we were using must have finally run out of power. Would anyone like to come with me to check it out?"

He asked, and there were immediate responses.

"I will come. I cannot live without electricity."

Jenna immediately replied, but Andrew doubted she would be of much help.

"I will come as well. I might be able to get the power back up."

Emperor volunteered as well. Truthfully, he was the only person here Andrew actually felt comfortable taking with him.

"Should I come as well?"

Clara asked seconds before Lilianna raised her hand to volunteer herself. But that did not discourage her from volunteering.

"T-Then, me as well-"

"We won’t need all these people. I will take Emperor and Seraphina with me. You all should take care of the base camp for me."

Clara had a disappointed look on her face, but she quickly backed down.

"Alright. But keep us posted about the progress. If the electricity does not come back, then we will have to think of something else to power this place."

Clara reminded them all as they left. She sighed before she turned around, wanting to go back to her food.

But her attention suddenly shifted toward Lilianna, who was still looking outside with an almost worried look on her face. Her eyes kept following the figures disappearing on the horizon.

"Snap out of it, Lili. They will all be fine. They know what they are doing, so there is no need to worry like this."

Clara reminded her, and Lilianna felt jolted all of a sudden. She blinked as she looked at Clara with a clear expression before she bit her lip.

"I know they will be fine. But still...I..."

Lilianna stopped herself from speaking. She did not even know how to express her worries because they seemed too insignificant on second thought.

And not only that, but she felt a little foolish for thinking the thoughts she was thinking, but she still felt frustrated.

’Why Seraphina all the time? I can understand Emperor, but her as well...’

"Don’t bottle it all up inside you. You should let your emotions out. Otherwise, who knows whether you will even get a chance in the future or not."

Clara reminded her, and Lilianna took a small breath and nodded.

"Y-You are right. I should try to be brave at least..."

She agreed, but her heart was not in it. Some secrets were worth taking to the grave, and this one certainly felt like that.

’What I am feeling for Andrew might be temporary. I must have developed a crush on him because he freed me and helped me out a lot. But from here on, I need to focus on helping him back.’

That was what Lilianna decided. But unfortunately, her feelings were hard to control.

__________

"We are at the power station. Everyone, cover your noses. There is no telling just how filthy this place would be after all this time."

The power station looked like it was falling apart, with no one to look after it. The door creaked as they pushed it open. It had swollen due to the rain and other harsh conditions it had endured.

Thankfully, it opened without much breaking, and they entered.

"I will start looking at the damages around here and what we can do to repair it. You both should check on the wind turbine..."

Emperor commanded them, but not even a second passed before there was a sound of footsteps heading toward them.

The three paused, waiting to see if the other person would call out to them or not. But nothing happened for a few seconds, and then...

Andrew immediately threw up a shield, and a sword collided with his shield, freezing the part where it touched it.

"Tsk, it’s you again."

Queen’s familiar voice reached them, and the force behind her sword increased. She wanted to break their barrier and freeze them where they stood.

But Seraphina immediately took action, her sword colliding with the frozen one, and her flame abilities melted the sword Queen had formed.

"Are you the reason behind this power station going down?" 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

Andrew asked her before Queen could attack them again.
