Reborn as a Weak Earthling, I Became the Most Overpowered Mage Alive-Chapter 124: Ch : Power Plant- Part 2
Queen’s cold expression made it almost impossible to tell what she was thinking. But Andrew remained patient with her, and Seraphina countered all of her attacks.
Queen was smart enough to realize that she wouldn’t win this time, especially if she wanted to fulfil the mission she had been given by Emperor. Still, she had too much pride to sit still and listen to these people talking to her.
"Tsk, so what if I am? What are you going to do about it-"
Seraphina’s sword almost took Queen’s head off, but her sharp reflexes made her dodge. Thankfully, Seraphina had enough control not to damage any equipment.
"I am getting rather tired of your attitude. So how about I do this world a favor and take you out here? It will make me feel so much better..."
Seraphina replied with a calm expression on her face, and Queen bit her lip in agitation. She knew that she was outnumbered. But there was no way in hell she would rely on her partner this time...
Knowing him, he would ruin everything.
Unfortunately, all this fighting caused her partner to step out anyway.
"Queen, what is going on out here? I cannot concentrate with all this noise...Mark Dawson and his group? What are you all doing here?"
Mandarine asked in a surprised voice. He had motor oil all over him, and he seemed to be working on the wiring part.
"It is nothing. Head back to work now. We need to get this power supply back to the labs as soon as possible."
Queen ordered, but Mandarine did not follow her words. He looked much more interested in their guests.
"You want to take this power supply? Don’t you know that it’s my private property? I would need to take action if you want to take it back."
Andrew was not lying when he said that.
This power station was on the Dawsons’ property, and it had their name and logo all over it. He was also sure he owned a large part of this place...well, used to.
Unfortunately, it was not a part of his ’base’ at the moment because of its size limit.
"This is...a private station? We did not know that-"
"What is even private or public at this point? We are going to take this back because Thief asked us to, and that is final. You have no say in this."
Queen immediately got into a fighting mood and formed another ice sword. But Mandarine panicked and turned to her.
"Queen, fight outside. Your power is going to corrode the machines..."
His panicked words caused Queen to lower her powers, but she did not drop the sword.
Seeing how the situation was escalating, Mandarine quickly turned toward Andrew and the others with a sorry expression, and he bowed to them.
"I apologize. We were not aware that this was a private power station. I will inform Thief right now, and we will find another station to get our energy from."
Mandarine told them, and he immediately opened his system to contact Thief. His expression went from panicked to relieved to panicked again and finally settled on determination.
He turned toward Andrew and stood between him and Queen.
"Thief says he will come here to negotiate with you regarding this power supply himself. I would personally like to leave it alone...but Thief says we really do need it..."
Mandarine sounded sorry about all this, and Andrew just nodded.
"Alright. I will hear Thief out...this time. But it all better be worth it in the end."
Mandarine looked relieved at Andrew’s answer.
"Don’t worry. It will all be worth it...I am sure..."
He assured Andrew, but even he did not look as sure of himself now.
They waited for a few minutes before Thief arrived through a rift. The crack closed behind him as soon as he exited, and Thief gave Andrew a small nod of understanding.
"I heard what happened from Mandarine. First of all, let me apologize. We were not aware that this was private property. Would you like to sell it to us? We can offer you a lot of system gold for it."
Thief immediately got down to business. He also stopped Queen, who looked ready to do something stupid at the moment.
"No thanks. I am not interested in system gold. I would like to keep this power station."
Andrew immediately replied, and Thief’s expression faltered, showing annoyance beneath his calmness.
But he quickly masked it as well with a smile on his face.
"I am afraid that it is not an option at the moment. We are in desperate need of more power for some of our experiments. So we cannot give up on this power source. We can, however, split it if you would like a piece of it."
Thief offered that with a calm look on his face. He believed that he was in control and the other side would understand him and his intentions.
Unfortunately, the other side was Andrew, who did not care about anything Thief wanted to do.
"Sorry, but I will pass on it. If you want an energy source, then you will have to find another one."
Andrew told them, and Thief finally looked agitated enough to break his calm facade. He slammed his hands on the table with an annoyed look on his face.
"Do you even know what’s at stake here? We are finally so close to a breakthrough. Just a little bit more and we-"
"It is neither my responsibility to care, nor do I care enough to hear you out. Now, would you get out of here yourself, or should I push you out?"
Thief calmed down immediately, almost as if a bucket of water had been dropped over his head. He exchanged a look with Mandarine, who was standing behind him, before he stood up.
"I am sorry. I allowed my emotions to get the better of me. But you are right. I can find another power source if I put my mind to it. I do not want to make an enemy out of you, so I will take my leave now."
He told the party before he stood up and left.
