"The history of the world huh?" Ren Nora mumbled.
Instead of answering immediately, he stood up and walked towards a hidden cabinet at the corner of his luxurious office where he retrieved a bottle of expensive wine and 2 glasses.
The bottle of wine was surrounded with swirling mist, it was chilled.
He poured on both glasses and pushed one towards Leon who picked it up and sipped from it without hesitation.
The wine tasted like grapes that were preserved for centuries, losing most of their taste in the process.
But the taste wasn’t completely bland, it had a unique metallic flavor.
Looking at Leon to gauge his reaction, Ren Nora sat down and also sipped from his glass, then he asked. "How is it?"
"It’s ok".
The General looked appalled. "Just ok? That is one of the best in my collection!"
’The best in your collection? Really???’ Leon was stunned. ’Then this world must have really become really bad at making quality wine, what the hell!’
Despite feeling aggrieved, Ren Nora didn’t stress on it as he finally started. "I’ve always been a fan of history, especially history related to the distant past before Genesis. Though I didn’t quite succeed in finding much of anything before Genesis, I was still thrilled with what I found".
"Hacking through History is one of the greatest benefits of being the ’Glitch’." He smiled.
"No one knew when the era before Genesis ended. Genesis was the Reboot of our world as humanity became scattered and splintered into different mutated civilizations to survive ADE radiation".
"The old world died, and a new one replaced it".
"After the new calendar system was created, there have been 3 major eras remembered in recorded history- the Tectonic Convergence Era, the Hope or the Genesis Era, and the Federation Era which is our current era".
"The Tectonic Convergence Era actually started before the new calendar system was created".
"Then, our world was still called Earth".
"This era likely started just after Genesis, an era where Earth went through decades of earthquakes, volcanic expansion, oxygen degradation, sea-level collapse, and ADE growth that fused the original continents into one".
"During the final decade of this era is when Project Genesis took place. According to the archives, Project Genesis is the first and last attempt to reboot humanity".
"This era was one of the darkest of recorded history, and it was during this period that almost all relics of the past before Genesis were lost".
"People died daily in the millions, rapidly reducing the population of the world as even after becoming Synths and Geneforms, we struggled to adapt to the new nature of the world and the new energy of the world called ADE".
"Billions died".
"Very few existences from this era are still alive, and every single one of them are either old monsters, D Rank Ascended who live in isolation or elders of the Omnicore Federation, the Synth Order, and the Geneforge Clans".
"To the outside world though, just like other things from that era, people believe that nobody from that era is still alive".
"At D Rank, Ascended go through a fundamental change that prepares them for the C Rank Apotheosis, elevating their forms as living beings and synchronizing their Neural Core further with ADE, massively elevating longevity".
"This is why these old monsters have survived for this long".
"At some point during this era, Earth became known as Neo-Tokara and the new calendar system came into use".
"After decades of dying, wiping off majority of the population of the world, barely surviving, on Year 060 A.G, our world entered a new era, the era that was called the Hope or Genesis Era".
"In Year 060 A.G, the remnants of humanity, now Synths and Geneforms finally gained a foothold in the new world of one giant continent called Neo-Tokara".
"For the first time, they could use ADE adeptly as they adapted to their new races and new lives and that meant something... it meant hope".
"It was not desperate survival anymore, survival was now guaranteed".
"But with survival, interests and desire was born, leading to the first 3 factions- Omnicore, the Synth Order, and the Reclaimer Church".
"This is also the period when the Ascendant Class system was deciphered and created as the remnants of the world learned to harness the ever-present ADE in the atmosphere to become Ascended".
"Lord Zolkan of the Geneforge Clans is one of the first Ascended of this Generation, one of the most talented, though there were no Geneforge Clans then yet".
"But despite learning to protect themselves and survive, in the new world filled with increasing Neon Beasts and environmental hazards, religion was a must as many people needed something to anchor on, and the Reclaimer Church provided it, making them the biggest and most powerful faction of this era".
"Omnicore occupied the North, the Synth Order the East, while the Reclaimer Church occupied the South".
"Geneforms were a minority force then that were mostly part of the Church".
"The Reclaimers were conservative and religious, Omnicore was politically competitive, while the Synths were mostly business-minded and technology-focused people".
"The Synths yearned to rebuild the world back to its former glory".
"On paper, these regions worked together, electing the first President of the new era late in Year 060".
"Surprisingly, a Synth won the election".
"Democracy won and the survivors post-Genesis learned to be happy again, but mistrust and rivalry brewed beneath the surface".
"After the first election, the electoral community had their first meeting and agreed that Presidential elections should take place every 2 years".
"For the next 2 tenures, a Synth won meaning a Synth ruled Neo-Tokara as the unified President of the world for the first 3 straight times".
"But during this time, mostly after the 2nd election, corruption started seeping in, growing into the politics and after that, elections slowly started becoming chaotic and lawless".
"This continued from Year 060 A.G to Year 066 A.G".
Ren Nora leaned back on his luxurious office chair and sighed.
"And then... the COUP!"
