Reborn as a Devouring Dragon with a System-Chapter 34: Bestial Town
Chapter 34: Bestial Town
Drake and the rest continued their journey as Kaidros led the way, as he was the only one who knew about the Origin Continent. After spending close to a day walking, they stood before a town with a plate: "Bestial Town."
According to Kaidros, this town was the closest to the Bestial Forest, which was why it was named like that. Drake made sure they didn’t wear flashy clothes so as not to attract attention. As for the rabbits, he would have loved to dye their hair white, but where could he find dye in this world?
For every main character in a novel, they always start from the weakest village; only a few start from a strong or middle power.
Drake, carrying the rabbits with Kaidros, entered the village as he held Kaidros’s hand like a son. He was trying to play father and son and had warned Kaidros not to call him Master nor Young Master, but "my son" or by his name.
It took a lot of time and talk to convince Kaidros to agree to this, who settled on calling Drake by his name. He said he was not worthy of being Drake’s father even though it was an act?
Drake looked at all of them and saw that there was nothing that could attract attention, which made him heave a sigh of relief. "Let’s enter."
They moved towards the town gates as the sun was already setting. Even though it wasn’t filled with a lot of crowd going in and out, it was still much. Entering the town gates, they successfully entered the town.
Drake, who was behaving like a child, suddenly felt the whole crowd’s eyes on them. When he felt this, he knew trouble was coming. He wondered what had happened that made everyone set their gaze on them.
"Wow, what a handsome father and son."
"How are you sure they are father and son? They can be brothers."
"Look at their hair and eyes. They don’t look alike—they can’t be brothers. It might be the son took after the mother."
"But isn’t that young man too young to have a child?"
"Whatever, but he’s just too handsome. My prince charming!"
"The child is so cute. How I wish he was my son."
"Are they mortal or cultivators? Because I don’t feel any aura of Originat from them."
When Drake heard the words of the crowd, he knew he had messed up. His mood turned sullen. He had forgotten about their faces and how handsome and enchanting they were.
SQUEAK! SQUEAK! SQUEAK!
The rabbits cried as if they wanted to make their existence known, which later happened as they saw Drake giving the children a pat on their bodies.
"Isn’t that a hopper rabbit, a low-level beast?"
"The only difference is their color—they feel so weak."
The crowd began to murmur about the rabbit children when they saw that they were a low-level beast and also the fact that they had no aura. They thought that the father and son were mortals.
"Get out of the way!" Drake and Kaidros heard a male voice, turning to their back to see a golden car that looked like a lion bursting toward them with intense speed.
Immediately Kaidros saw this, Drake could feel he was almost close to releasing his aura and destroying the car.
"Kaidros, don’t forget we have to stay low-key," Drake said to him telepathically—something he found he could do after the dragon awakened. He attributed it to being the head and the emperor of the Dragon Clan, which was why he was able to communicate with Kaidros and the rabbits.
"Just move like a mortal trying to dodge the motor," Drake explained.
"If you say so, Master," Kaidros replied.
As the golden car was getting towards them, Kaidros dragged Drake as they fell to the ground, narrowly dodging the car. Meanwhile, Drake had already hugged Kaidros, "Papa," tears were threatening to drop from his eyes.
The golden car just burst away without stopping to take a look at them, and from the looks of things, it was heading towards the center of the town.
The crowd looked at Drake and Kaidros.
"Poor father and son."
"Well, there’s nothing they can do as mortals. From the color of the car and being able to drive a car here, it means that person is from a huge background. They could only blame their luck for meeting such people."
When Kaidros heard this, he looked towards the golden car that was speeding away with chilly eyes before Drake tugged him as they stood up, heading inside the town.
Drake was surprised by the setting of the town. It didn’t look like a town but a city with the aura it had. The buildings were tall and densely packed, but even though the city was in order and well cleaned, there was an occasional smell of blood.
As they continued to walk into the town, Drake reached a place he would call the market stall, as shops were spread around like water.
"Come buy a Middle Stage Origin Foundation Realm Beast Core for 10 Origin Gold! It can increase your cultivation!"
"A Peak Origin Foundation Realm Beast Wind Wolf for 100 Origin Gold!"
"Body Strengthening Herb, only for ten taels of Origin Silver!"
As they were walking through the market stall, Drake saw multiple stores that sold beast parts, Origin Herbs, Ores, alive beasts, weapons—but one thing surprising him was the fact that the currency they were calling out was new to him.
"Kaidros, what the hell is this Origin Gold and Silver?" Drake asked.
"Well, Master, this Origin Gold and Silver are currencies used in the Origin Continent to trade things. The more important the item, the higher the price would be. 1,000 Origin Silver is equal to one Origin Gold."
"Then what about the Origin Stones?"
"Origin Stones are used for cultivation, and are also currency that can be used, but only to buy materials that are in Origin King Realm and above. To get a low-level spirit stone, a billion Origin Gold is required."
When Drake heard this, he was surprised. Just a low-level stone contained such an amount? What about a peak superior stone? Drake shook his head as he realized he had to tread carefully.
