Chapter 72: Back to Isabel

I’ll never understand the secret behind her name or why she can’t reveal it to me just yet but I’ll find out one way or another. She won’t be able to hide that from me forever.

The blood on his clothing seems to be gone but the exhaustion was still very much there.

I will be able to rest after I get back to Isabel since the battle seems to be over for the time being. I’m glad that I took care of the problem without her getting killed.

She really is a lot different from the stories which I’m shocked by, originally I thought they were pretty accurate when she started sending spears through people but I don’t know now.

Something about the talk in the tower changed my perspective on it a bit. Maybe it was the story about how she came to be in this world like me.

I wasn’t assassinated like her... It was just bad timing, wait... How did I die again?

The memory loss with my previous life seems to be getting worse the more time goes on. I’m wondering if it’s a side effect from using all the powers I’ve used during my battles.

Does my power actually get rid of my memories or is that just happening from sheer overload? I have been making a lot of new memories in this world so it would be understandable.

Artemis makes his way back towards the tower while avoiding most of the people in the streets. He doesn’t want to draw anymore attention to himself after all the recent events that have happened.

It’s surprising that his party hasn’t gone out to look for him but I’m sure it’ll be a fun story to explain to them later.

The tower isn’t much further— I’m at a lost with how to go about things with Isabel since she’s still one of my enemies. I know that she can’t die right now because it’ll cause a whole chain of reactions.

I just want to eliminate the entirety of the cult of Nyxoria so that we don’t have to worry about the end of the world. Wars will still happen but at least people can still live to see the end of the wars.

I’ll do my best to help with that when the time comes as well since I don’t want to see constant bloodshed. Queen Rayala is probably going to be the main cause of the war.

I’ve heard all the talks from the people as I walked throughout the streets of Theos, she isn’t the best person in the world. Her view on the world is quite grim and I don’t understand who wronged her that bad.

Wanting to enslave people and make other kingdoms abide the laws in place isn’t very good.

The old abandoned tower stood before him, it looked massive when standing directly at the bottom of it. I probably shouldn’t waste much time here, she’s waiting on me up there.

It doesn’t take him very long to make his way up the tower since he uses his remaining strength to climb the tower with haste. He didn’t want to take the chance of her being gone.

As he reaches the top he can see her still sitting in the chair as she reads one of the old books. "I wondered how long it would take for you to return." She says while still reading the book.

"I apologize for making you wait." Artemis replies nervously.

Now it hits me, damn brain is finally messing with me. I knew I’d get nervous at some point or maybe it was just pure adrenaline drowning everything out before.

She looks up slightly from her book. "I don’t mind, there’s quite a few interesting books up here. I’m surprised they left the tower like this." Isabel says with a laid back tone to her voice.

Isabel is the leader in this continent for the cult of Nyxoria but yet she doesn’t have some sort of bodyguards or people to defend her? I’ve seen her strength but I just thought about it all.

She was by herself in the streets with no one by her side which is odd for someone that high up in the ranks. I doubt she’ll share any of that information with me if I start asking about the cult.

"In a place like Theos it is quite odd. What have you found to read so far?" Artemis asks before clearing a seat off for himself.

It feels good t finally sit down after all that damn running around and fighting that I did today. I’m so incredibly tired but I can’t afford to sleep until I know that Isabel won’t disappear.

"I do know all about you Artemis, I’m just wondering why you haven’t tried to kill me. You saved me from other attackers and haven’t bothered to interrogate me about the cult." Isabel speaks with calmness in her voice.

I should’ve expected that she was playing it cool until the problem was dealt with— It doesn’t seem like she’s too concerned about it.

I’m not sure how I should go about speaking with her now that it’s out in the air like this. "I should’ve guessed that you knew the whole time but I hoped it didn’t reach you yet." Artemis responds while looking out towards the kingdom.

The night also arrived finally so this was the best opportunity for us to talk before going back to the party.

"I don’t intend to run or anything, I’m just hoping you can give me a good reason to abandon the cult. I know that you are a good person and you even stuck your neck out for me so I don’t have any doubts when it comes to your integrity or Morals." Isabel speaks with a bit of a smile growing on her face.

Maybe I won’t have to worry too much about this since she seems to be pretty okay with me.

"I don’t believe that the resurrection of Nyxoria will be a smart move, not when it means the end of the world for everyone else." Artemis replies with a serious tone.

I’ll just be honest.
