Reincarnated in the game world ~ A gamer's beginning to [Dungeon job hunting recommendation]-Chapter 674Vol. 12 - - Let’s Begin the Interview - The top batters are... Selma-senpai and Tomoyo!
Chapter -
Thursday. It was the day after my assistance to Class-51.
And my words, the day had been so hectic since yesterday. After going through a fever dream sorta situation, Researcher Remy had finally found her calm, and pulled me to meet Chief Mistin.
I had suspected it was so, and I guess I might have dug a hole for me by making them, the No.4 in the inter-class competition, all high-ranking job individuals.
Ah, but I regretted nothing though.
I was dragged to a lot of classes, surrounded by researchers, including Chief Mistin himself, barraged with all sorts of questions regarding the conditions, and I did try to answer to some extent. In essence, it was "I give no assurity this would help you unlock conditions, but I think this should make it easier in achieving the conditions."
Sure, I might have sliiightly lost myself in the moment and revealed too much, but to be honest, I certainly didn't reveal the conditions directly to students. Instead, I kinda spiced up details and tasks.
The «Time Rabbit» for reference. While I told the student to put at least tens of watches in a circle and meditate for one hour, the original condition could be fulfilled by holding five pocket watches, and taking a stroll.
The varying paths to reach the conditions should have many researchers who focus on statistics tilt their head. I mean, there had been many «Time Rabbit» users in the past, but no one had done something similar to what I had asked.
This should have them research the cause. They would do their own research to reach the conclusion instead of taking my words as one truth, while also making it like 'I just happen to know the surface.'
Well, I also kinda slipped a bit. Though I would say it was more of an intended hint. The game had hints for us players to discover the jobs, but the reality obviously wasn't so convenient. This was also why they'd barely been scraping by in their research milestone.
I would even go as far to say not even us players would've been able to discover all the 1021 jobs. So I thought over the situation, and decided it was time. Of course, just a push, nothing big.
Their expression had been worthy of a picture in that moment. Their eyes were red as tomatoes. You would think their blood vessels popped off. They wrote down every word I spoke. Hey, they'd the drive, and I hope they do their best.
Alright, enough of it. I should think about other things. We finally got Shalon to join us. My long sought wish was completed!
Though it might be too early to rejoice. The job transfer wouldn't begin until the weekend. Plus Shalon also would've to go through withdrawal procedure from her current guild. So the official joining would take some time.
One thing for sure. We were going to have a party soon!
Then, we had students from Class-51 showing their intention to enter our guild, Misato stopping me, and that eventually led to expansion of recruitment.
It was fine by me, and I felt myself agreeing. We would just have more pools of talented individuals. The timing was ripe, so the interview was decided on weekend. The last time was a bit too short, so I made sure we had plenty of time this occasion.
I was quite unsure if even one day was a bit short, but Misato said it was plenty. If she said so, then I would say we're all good.
The next stop in our guild's journey was B-rank, one of the top status. This should bring in many exciting personalities.
And, cut to the chase, that's what led me to my current location—the 3rd training ground of the Combat Department.
The clock was ticking 3:00 PM.
A training ground was perfect to display more skills. By the time I took my entry, and I say I made it quite early too, the candidates were already present.
"So, we're all ready then, eh? Now do your best, everyone. It's your stage to shine and catch your chance for Eden!"
" " "Let's goooo!!" " "
Misato raised the morale of the candidates. Hmm, that was brilliant. The air was crackling with their excitement. Just perfect!
There were at least 20 of them, seniors and juniors mixed alike. I presume this was the first group. Apparently Misato had sorted them out in seven groups, and we had today and tomorrow to go through them.
The job transfer started the weekend, so we had to secure the talents now, but it's not going easy.
"Zephyr-kun~."
"I will definitely get into the same guild as you~!"
I noticed several familiar faces among them... oh wait, they're just the students from lectures. They waved their hands in greeting. I was glad to hear they were so excited to join the guild as me. Nothing better than a passionate crowd!
I reverted with a similar gesture and a smile.
"Then make sure to give your best~! Well, I am the interviewer though."
"Ahaha."
"We should go to the dungeon together, Zephyr-kun~."
Uh-uh, that's a promise I couldn't make, not until they're in the guild.
"Let's start with No.1 then."
"Heh, Selma-senpai is first in line? Let's see... ah, «Dark Alchemist» huh."
"Yes! It's been a while, Zephyr-sensei!"
"Nice to see you too, Selma-san."
I promptly started the interview. The first candidate was sophomore senior and an «Alchemist» Selma-senpai.
I heard the order was based on who applied first. Selma-san was the first, eh? It was so like her. I would always find her sitting on the very front seat each time during lectures.
"She's stealing the march! Alchemist-senpai is sneaking damn it!"
"Tch, why only she gets called by her name!? I will not forgive her."
"Ohohoho. This is an obvious reward to be consistently at top. Now pardon me, but I need to take a headstart."
"L-look at how she changed her colors to cover herself."
I heard inaudible chatter from the crowd. I guess since we're more or less acquaintances, they're quite excited more than so. That was a plus. «Dungeon Activity» was meant to be fun after all. My students knew their stuff.
"Mhm~m... why I feel like you're thinking about something else, Zephyr-kun?"
"Hn? Did you say anything, Misato?"
"Mhm~no. We can start now. —Selma-senpai, please express yourself using your current job as a premise~."
"Say, Misato-chan. Why does the *self-introduction* seems kind of different?"
"You're overthinking, Senpai~. Tehe."
I didn't get it, but Misato and Selma-senpai exchanged playful banter... I presume.
Regaining her focus, Selma-senpai brought out an intermediate-grade alchemy axe, and began showing her skill with familiar gestures. She wasn't on Hannah's level, but she was going pretty fine.
Hmm, from the details, she would be changing her job to «Dark Alchemist». At advanced level, the job could be promoted to «Dark Witch», with prowess in both alchemy and combat. To add my note though, I say that job was more or less a mage job oriented toward dark attributes.
The «Dark Alchemist» were also experts in cursed objects. To its pros, their job allowed creation of some pretty powerful offensive items, but on the cons, they're unable to make potions anymore. For a production job, it sure lacked the ability to do so much.
And speaking of advanced job «Dark Witch», which basically transformed into a mage job, it was recommended to keep production abilities at 30% while combat at 70%. On the combat front, the job knew how to cast some debuff magic and so on attack. It was quite strong.
Apparently, the job was quite cool among students since its style allowed one to fight more fiercely while making use of dark items. To be honest, I needed to know her combat prowess more than alchemy skills.
"Do you go to dungeons, Selma-senpai?"
"Hmm? I-I can't go through."
"I see."
Ah, yes. The «Alchemists» were unable to enter the dungeon typically. ...Unless it's someone like my cute childhood friend... ahem, never mind.
"Mhm, that's a pickle."
"I-It's a pickle?! Brave-kun is... is actually conflicted on bringing Alchemist-senpai under their umbrella?!"
"W-what in the name of dungeons?!"
"I see, so that's the capability of a top batter."
"Fufufu~."
I folded my arms, and contemplated what to do when the crowd stirred for some reason.
Oops, I need to avoid it. I mean, I was indeed conflicted, but honestly it wasn't that much of a problem.
One of the particular things about «Dark Alchemist» was its training, meant to be compatible with advanced job. When ascending to «Dark Witch», the best option was to save up 50 SP at least. And the stats must be focused on INT.
She would be going through a job transfer later, starting from scratch, so it would be a pity to waste a chance in ignorance of what lay ahead in advanced jobs. Truly a pickle to accept her in, and then train or... Ah, the interview had just begun. I do not have to decide right away. There was plenty of time.
I emerged out of my contemplation and urged to proceed for the next candidate.
"Alright, now No.2 step forward~."
"Understood~! The next candidate is... Tomoyo-san from Combat Department 1-12!"
"Ooh!"
The next candidate was a girl geared with two shields. I knew her as one of my lecture attendees.
"I will definitely do my best, Zephyr-sensei!"
"Hey, now. I am not 'sensei' right now. Just call me Zephyr. But speaking of Class-12, did we face each other in inter-class competition?"
"Then I will settle for Zephyr-kun. And unfortunately, we didn't cross paths during the competition."
"Well, truly a pity... was it really a pity?"
"Ahahaha~."
Sure enough, she had been there in class alliance, but I didn't encounter her. Anyway, she must be strong enough to use two shields. She must have paid attention to my advice, that's glad to see.
"Wait a minute, Ester told me she faced a strong shielder from Class-12. Could it be you?"
Ah, yes. Yes, I did face Ester-san, though I lost."
"So it's really you."
Wow, I guess I already have my answer then. Ester had told me she found just one person that she felt was up to skills during competition and wanted to introduce to me. It was her.
I had thought of meeting her later, I mean it was someone Ester spoke highly of, but she stood now in front of me.
"Zephyr-kun~, do not take that much time. There's still a long row ahead~."
"Oops, my bad. I know then, Tomoyo. Show me your tank performance. Misato would take offense."
"Sure so."
"Misato, take some distance and use your offensive magic. Start with «Shining Blas»."
"Yes, sir. —«Shining Blast»!"
Once they'd taken enough distance, Misato hurled a flash of light, a light attribute spell, toward Tomoyo. It was one of the strongest spells among 3rd order tree. Now then, it's to see how Tomoyo deals with it.
"«Shield Drift»!"
Whoa, now that was surprising. She had opted out for a deflect skill. Tomoyo stretched forward one of the two shields, and swiped as if swatting away something. From beginning to the end, she was steadfast in the battle.
I think I now understand why Ester was impressed enough to introduce her. She was talented!
T/N - Well damn, I thought the chapter was updated. I guess site kinda messed up yesterday.
