Chapter 188: Chapter 188: Illness
Song Recommendation: Freak By Yuqi
After the conversation with Li Qiang and Tang Mo, Lu Wei felt a lot better. The trio played games, and when they felt that it was getting late, Lu Wei and Tang Mo decided to head home.
"Did you have a good time with them?" Xin Yan asked as they walked to the bed, with she helping Li Qiang as he was a bit drunk.
"Yes, it has been a long time since I hung out with them like that, we should do it often," Li Qiang commented, burping at the same time.
Xin Yan chuckled, happy that he was able to have fun.
"I am glad you had fun, now, it is time for bed," Xin Yan smiled as they both walked to the bedroom, and went to bed, not before showering.
*The Next Day*
Xin Yan was the first to wake up, and she quickly prepared for work, before whipping up breakfast for them. While she was in the kitchen, Li Qiang woke up.
He did not find her in the room, he concluded that she was in the kitchen.
He held his head feeling it ache so much, before he forced himself to freshen up.
After he had done so, he went to the kitchen. Just as he had thought, she was in the kitchen.
"You are awake, good morning," Xin Yan greeted him once her eyes landed on him.
"Does your head ache?" She asked with concern seeing that he kept holding his head.
"I guess so," he commented, his voice also sounded nasally.
Xin Yan’s frown deepened.
"You have a seat, I will get the painkillers," she forced him to have a seat, before running up to the bedroom to search for painkillers.
A few minutes later, she was back in the kitchen.
"Here," she handed him the pills which he gladly took.
"Water," Xin Yan handed it to him, the frown not leaving her face for a second.
"How do you feel?" Xin Yan sounded concerned as she looked at him.
"My head feels heavy," he genuinely answered.
Her eyes roamed over his pale face, and the frown could not be removed from her face.
It did not help matters that he was already dressed for the office
"You aren’t going to the office, you need rest," Xin Yan instructed.
"That is not possible," Li Qiang refused immediately, coughing at the same time.
Xin Yan folded her arms as she stared at him. She wondered what he was going to say again.
"I am fine, I do not need to stay at home just because of a little cold, I have an important shareholders’ meeting today, I cannot afford to miss it," he weakly explained to her.
Xin Yan sighed, holding her forehead. She did not know how she was to explain to him that his body was at its limits, but she could not stop him.
"At least, have breakfast," she pleaded.
Li Qiang looked at the concerned look on his face, and he nodded. He dared not refuse or else he might be locked up in his room.
After breakfast, Li Qiang dropped Xin Yan off at her office, before driving to his office.
He was not okay, physically, but he could not miss work today. The meeting was essential, and he kept postponing it.
"President, you seem pale, what is the issue?" Gao Yang asked as soon as he saw Li Qiang walk in.
"It is just a little cold, ask the shareholders and directors to gather in the conference room in five minutes, we need to prepare counter-attacks for Wu Tang’s incoming attacks," Li Qiang instructed while he sniffed.
Gao Yang could only frown in worry. He only hoped Li Qiang did not have a body breakdown. He had been pushing his body too hard.
Five minutes later, all the shareholders and directors trooped into the conference room, some running in for fear of being late.
Li Qiang hated lateness, and he had shown his detest for tardiness several times.
Li Qiang, who was already seated in the conference room, smiled seeing the shareholders.
"Thank you for gracing the meeting, I also want to apologize for postponing it numerous times," he paused, his eyes scanning the entire room for any opposition.
He nodded with satisfaction, having found none.
"Good, now, let’s get down to business," he stated, and they spent about three hours strategizing and re-strategizing.
Gao Yang stood behind Li Qiang as he watched him overwork himself, he could not hide the worry on his face, but thankfully, they were all busy with their discussion.
"Okay, that will be all for now, ladies and gentlemen, thank you for your wonderful contributions, it means a lot that you still care about the progress and success of our company," Li Qiang stated once the meeting was over.
"No need to mention, President Li, you have already proven yourself to be a capable leader, it is with your help the company grew to this height," one of the shareholders commented.
"It is with our collective efforts, alright, you are dismissed," Li Qiang dismissed the executives. He was fed up with the fake flattery.
The executives all trooped out of the conference room, unaware of what was running in Li Qiang’s mind.
"President, are you okay?" Gao Yang immediately asked as soon as Li Qiang coughed out loud.
"I am fine," Li Qiang replied.
"You do not need to worry about me, it is just a cough," Li Qiang continued, his voice sounded weak which scared Gao Yang immensely.
"President, I am scared, do you need me to call President Xin? You require maximum rest, but you are not willing to call her, I believe she is the only one who can convince you," Gao Yang was about to dial Xin Yan’s number when he heard a roar.
"Don’t!"
"Don’t even dare to try it, do not inform Xin Yan about my current condition, she would be distressed," Li Qiang stopped Gao Yang.
"But she needs to know, she is your wife," Gao Yang protested.
"I am your boss, and I forbid you from calling my wife, Gao Yang," Li Qiang growled, startling Gao Yang who nodded, but he made a mental note to send a text message to Xin Yan.
