Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 221: Hurtful!
Chapter 221: Hurtful!
Time passes quickly as another new year begins.
It was the month they had really been waiting for—the baby arrived into their lives.
However, even after three days had passed, the due date had come and gone, and there was no sign that the baby would be arriving soon.
Alex felt confused, while Aurora was feeling anxious.
Sophia and Matthew, who had been staying with them for three days, tried to soothe both of them.
"Don’t worry, Aurora. I truly understand what you’re experiencing," Sophia said warmly to Alex. She added, "Back then, my son was nine days overdue. He was really hesitant to come out. You remember, right, Matt?"
Matthew laughs softly as he gazes at Sophia, recalling those moments.
"Yes, I remember... that day you requested a C-section," Matthew said, then looked over at Alex, who were sitting across from them. "You’re just like your son, Alex..."
Alex never knew about it and was clearly surprised to find out.
"Hmm, I guess so. But I hope he won’t make us wait that long..." Alex gently replies, glancing warmly at Aurora.
He understood how much Aurora wanted to see their son, even though she never spoke of it openly—her anxiety flashing clearly in her eyes.
Although everyone else seems relaxed discussing it, Aurora feels increasingly stressed. She turned to her mother-in-law and asked, "So, Sophia, did you have a C-section?"
Sophia noticed her daughter-in-law’s anxious look. "No, dear, it’s just because he was finally born," she said softly, gently recounting the day’s events to help ease Aurora’s worry.
Aurora nods without saying anything, but all of them could see how stressed she was.
"Don’t worry, my dear Aurora, just enjoy this special moment..." Sophia adds kindly. "And you too, Alex... It’s time to go to work now. I’ll stay here with your wife..."
Aurora smiled gently, holding Alex’s hand and looking into his hesitant eyes.
"What Sophia said is right, Alex. You should go to your office. Don’t worry about me; I’ll be fine at home. If I need anything, I’ll call you right away." She tries to appear calm, even though she still feels nervous inside.
Aurora feels guilty because Alex often stays home for several days at a time, leaving his work behind, just so he can be with her when her due date approaches.
...
After Alex and Matthew finally left the house, Aurora went back to the second floor and tried to distract herself by watching a movie, just like she did every day.
But her stress returned when she got a text from her best friend, Danny.
"Rory, I just wanted to share that Rena has just entered the delivery room. How are things on your end?"
Aurora feels happy to know, but she also feels stressed again, as Rena’s due date is supposedly two weeks from now.
Aurora can’t help but express her frustration, "This is so unfair. Why did Rena give birth faster? What about me?"
She feels happy that Renata will be giving birth soon, but she can’t hide her stress at the moment. After taking a long, deep sigh, she replied to Danny’s text message.
"Dan, I’m so happy to hear that. I hope she delivers quickly and safely. Let me know if the baby girl is born."
After sending the text, she typed another.
"Not yet."
She set her cell phone aside and kept watching the movie she selected.
Throughout the night, everything stayed peaceful and quiet.
However, Aurora began to feel discomfort in her stomach while sleeping. She slowly woke up, initially thinking she needed to use the bathroom, but the sensation was quite different.
She ignored it for a while, thinking it was just a normal stomachache, and the pain eventually subsided.
But shortly after, the pain returned.
This time, she couldn’t ignore it and gradually awoke, realizing it wasn’t just an ordinary stomachache. It was the kind she had been anticipating—was she about to give birth soon? Maybe!
Aurora looked at the digital watch on the nightstand. It was still 4 AM. She tried not to wake Alex, who was sleeping next to her.
After quietly slipping out of bed without waking Alex, Aurora steps outside, gently feeling the pain returning. She feels reassured because she knows from Sophia, her caring doctor, and from the article she read, that this is just the early stage.
She just needs to endure it, and when the pain in her stomach intensifies and becomes more noticeable, that will be the signal to go to the hospital.
After just a few minutes, she stepped outside, struggling to deal with the pain she felt. Suddenly, the bedroom door swung open, and Alex appeared, his face still sleepy. However, his tone revealed the panic clearly in his voice.
"Rory? Why are you here? Did you sense something?" Alex asked and moved closer to her.
She smiles and nods. "Hmm, but not much..."
That’s great, dear," Alex said softly, holding her hand and noticing how cold it was.
Locking eyes with her, he expressed his concern, "Rory, we need to get to the hospital now. I’m really worried something might happen to you..."
Aurora shook her head gently, "Alex, not right now. It’s still quite early. How about we wait until morning?"
However, Aurora failed because an hour later, she was already in the hospital with her family, now with them.
Not only Matthew and Sophia, but also Martin, Tina, and her father are in her VIP wardroom; they are all there as if they are having a family gathering early in the morning. In the hospital.
By noon, Aurora began feeling the pain more often, and it became even more uncomfortable for her.
Aurora lay on the bed with her face toward Alex, who was sitting at the edge, his expression looking dark. She could only manage a smile as she endured her pain.
After a few more minutes, they just started to look at each other silently, until finally Alex asked, "Is it hurt?"
His voice sounded aching, just like how he feels. He feels deeply hurt as he watches how miserable his wife has become.
He can see she has endured the pain since early morning, and now it’s almost four in the afternoon, but there’s no sign the baby will come out soon.
This made him angry, but he didn’t know who to blame.
"A little..." Aurora answered him with a faint smile. "Can you smile for me, huh?" she asked softly, knowing how distressed he was now.
Aurora chuckled upon seeing Alex’s strained smile.
"Alex, I feel hurt, but seeing your smile makes the pain gradually fade," she lied. The pain is truly overwhelming her, yet she didn’t want to show it to him, fearing he might become more worried and angry.
"Yes, yes... Keep smiling like that, it makes me feel better..."
Aurora said with a giggle, her laughter fading as pain crept in again, threatening to make her cry out. But she held her ground, enduring the pain with quiet strength and swallowing her discomfort.
"I’m sorry, Rory... I wish I could take your pain away!" Alex sighed deeply.
After forcing another smile, Alex voiced what had been on his mind. "Rory, I don’t want to have any more children. One is enough," he said softly, sadness flickering in his eyes as he looked at her.
Aurora was surprised. She didn’t expect him to say that.
"Alex, you..." She couldn’t finish her sentence as another pain struck her; this time, she couldn’t hold it.
A long growl escaped her lips, and her breathing became labored.
"Doctor, please help..." Alex called out anxiously.
Everything happened so fast, and a few nurses and doctors finally came to check on Aurora.
"She is ready..." the nurse said, and with that, the delivery process finally started.
A few more moments later, baby Graystone was born.
...
Seven years later.
Aurora gazed at Alex with a gentle smile.
"Alex, do you remember when I gave birth to William?" Seeing his nod and chuckle, she playfully teased, "You used to say you didn’t want any children, but look at us now, we have three!"
Alex stifled a laugh.
"That’s because you convinced me that you’re fine. And, I also want a daughter. It’s not fair that we only have William and Ethan; we need someone to accompany you. So..."
Aurora laughs while watching their child play on the white sandy beach in the distance. Before he turned her gaze to him, "But look at you now, you have become our daughter’s slave."
"Hahaha, my lovely wife, why are you jealous over our daughter, Emilly..." Alex leaned in closer and pulled her onto his lap. "Do you want another one? Maybe we can get a girl again?"
"No, thank you, Mr. Graystone! Three is enough!" she scolded him through her glare.
"I’m just kidding..." Alex wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tightly. "Let’s simply enjoy our holiday on this island."
"Oh, right, when will the others come?" Aurora asked while glancing at her watch.
Alex, glancing at the distant open sea. "I guess their yacht will arrive in thirty minutes..."
