Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 220: Happy Birthday, Alex!
Chapter 220: Happy Birthday, Alex!
When Aurora left the bedroom, Alex glanced at her with his apologetic smile.
"I’m sorry, Rory... It took me a while to cook. You must be hungry, right?"
"No, it’s fine. I don’t feel very hungry anyway," she says with a smile as she begins to enjoy it.
Seeing Aurora start to eat, Alex sat next to her and began eating as well. He starts sharing their plans for their stay in this cabin.
"After your dinner, you can relax and get some rest. No worries about the kitchen—I’ll handle that. And in the morning, we’ll go explore the beautiful scenery..."
Aurora was too caught up in her own thoughts about her plan to surprise Alex on his birthday, which made her miss what he said clearly.
She kept eating, but her mind was now focused on Martin and whether he would succeed in delivering the cake to the middle of this mountain or not.
But when Alex said, "Don’t stress, I will tire you tonight, Rory, I won’t touch you. I promise. I still remember what your OB-GYN said to me..." she only caught his last sentence.
’Huh? Why is he suddenly mentioning my doctor?’ Aurora wondered, frowning at Alex.
Just before Aurora wanted to ask, Alex stroked her back gently and continued his words, "Oh dear, I know you wanted, but not tonight. You are tired, I know that from your eyes..."
’Holy moly! Is he thinking about us having sex?’ she laughs inwardly.
Aurora replied playfully, "Geez, you’re so wrong, Mr. Graystone."
She quickly finished her spaghetti, placed the cutlery on her plate, and narrowed her eyes at him. "I’m not thinking about it..."
Alex was taken aback for a moment by her response and the seriousness in her voice. "Rory, you don’t want to have sex?"
"Of course, I want it. But, you are right, not tonight..." Aurora shook her head gently, not wanting to discuss it further, as she was worried he might twist her words again. "Could you please tell me the Wi-Fi password?"
"We don’t have Wi-Fi here. I asked them not to provide any Wi-Fi or phone signal in this area because we want to be left undisturbed. Why do you need the Wi-Fi password? Are you trying to contact someone?"
Alex smiled as he watched her mouth form an O, her eyes widening slightly in surprise. Her shocked yet adorable expression made her want to kiss her lips.
Without waiting for her to respond, he leaned in closer, pressed his lips to hers, and kissed her gently. The surprise kiss didn’t last long as he felt her hand gently push him away.
"I’m not finished talking, Alex..."
"I’m sorry. I was trying to help clean the sauce on your lips," He smiles lovingly before continuing, "You taste so good, my wife..."
Aurora was left speechless.
As Aurora was about to head to the bedroom to prepare his gift, suddenly, a distant car engine could be heard.
"Someone coming?" Aurora asked while Alex was doing the dishes in the kitchen.
Alex washed his hands quickly before rushing to the front door. "Anyone who dares to come here will be sent straight to the cliff outside!"
"Did you wait for someone?" She asked.
Aurora was also curious, but then she was surprised when a thought occurred to her. ’Oh my goodness! This is cake delivery, right?’
She hurried over to Alex and stopped him from peeking out the window.
"Alex, this person is looking for me. Go wait in the living room..."
"Huh!? Who wanted to meet you here?" Alex asked, looking a bit confused as she turned to see her.
"Josh! He came to bring something for me," she explained, but Alex was even more confused, standing still in his place.
"I won’t let you open the door, dear. What if that person isn’t Josh?" Alex said anxiously. "I’ll open it for you."
"My goodness, Alex. Did you forget that this area has tight security? No random person can just walk in, right?"
Alex halted his step. "Well, you’re right... But..."
"Oh, please wait for me on the sofa. I have a surprise for you," Aurora said softly, gently steering him away from the door with a cute smile.
"Oh, Rory... you want to give me a bir—" Alex can’t finish his words as Aurora gently covers his mouth with her hand, trying to keep him from revealing her plan.
Aurora softly asked him to sit on the sofa again, this time with a more serious look in her eyes.
After she finally saw him walk to the couch with a big grin on his face, she knew her plan had utterly failed.
She sighed deeply as she walked to the door.
"Did I arrive late?" Josh asked, sounding worried and looking at Aurora with an annoyed expression.
"Josh, you should place it somewhere in the house. Alex was furious to hear a car coming..."
"I forgot, I should walk. Sorry..."
"I forgive you. However, I’m not sure if he forgives you. Earlier, he said he plans to send you to the cliff behind..." Aurora grinned, noticing Josh’s face instantly turned wretched.
"Oh, shit—" Josh stammered, offering the cake box to Aurora. "Congrats on your wedding, Aurora. Bye..." He quickly ran toward his car, and in a flash, the vehicle sped away from the cabin.
Aurora couldn’t help but laugh softly when she saw how scared Josh was.
When she returned to the living room, she saw Alex smiling at her.
"You don’t have to prepare anything, Rory. You already remember my birthday, and that makes me happy. Besides..."
"Besides what?" Aurora asked, noticing his reluctance to continue.
"Nothing... Come sit here." He patted the sofa next to him.
But Aurora didn’t sit down right away. After placing the cake on the table, she asked him to wait and then went to the bedroom to get his gift.
...
After Alex made his wish and blew out the candle, Aurora embraced him tightly. Before she gently leaned back a little to get a better look at his eyes.
"Happy Birthday, Alex. Even though I’m always with you every birthday, this year feels meaningful to me. Because this time, you’re no longer just my boss or master, but my man, my husband..."
She took a moment to breathe deeply and then continued, "I hope you find more happiness and good health this year and beyond, Alex..."
"Thank you so much, Rory. I truly appreciate you being the first to congratulate me again."
Alex is overwhelmed with happiness, yet he feels a twinge of sadness. He can’t enjoy his birthday this year or any future ones—because it reminds him of her, who tragically died in a car accident last September.
Before discovering she returned as Aurora Spencer, he had sworn never to celebrate his birthday again.
However, when he heard her suggest that their wedding would be the day before his birthday, with her beaming eyes, how could he refuse? He just can’t.
He already knew about her plan to do something for his birthday, but he didn’t exactly know what she had in mind.
"This is my first gift to you as your wife," Aurora said warmly, handing him a black box. "I hope you like it..."
Alex opened the box and was surprised to see the luxury-branded watch inside. He was shocked.
He knows Aurora has a lot of money from her underground business; she could definitely buy this brand for him. However, a custom-branded watch engraved with his name? The watch can’t be purchased with money; it’s priceless.
He had never heard that anyone could pay to have their name engraved on a branded watch. Still, this watch has his name inside, beneath the brand logo.
Alex lifted his gaze to see her eyes, a mix of emotions raging inside him. He felt grateful yet also terrible.
"Rory, this watch is so beautiful, I feel special to see my name inside." Alex smiled as he held her hand. "But, how could you spend so much of your money on me..."
She teasingly lifted her lips before playfully saying, "Why not? I have money and I want to make my husband happy..."
"You—" Alex didn’t finish his sentence; he leaned in closer and kissed her to show how happy he was. After the lingering kiss that left her nearly breathless, he finally pulled away, smiled, and looked at her blushing cheeks.
"Rory, this watch is priceless. Even I... can’t ask them to put my name there. Seriously, how could you do that?" He asked with genuine curiosity.
"Do you believe me if I say that the owner of that branch owes me something? I asked him to pay this instead," she casually said, but Alex gasped in shock to hear that—he believed her.
But, his expression later shifted to concern, "If you did that, he will discover who you are."
"Well, he won’t be able to figure out my true identity since I didn’t engrave your last name. But if he finds out you own that watch, he’s likely to ask you where you got it."
"I won’t say anything or brag about having this special watch."
Aurora confidently said, "It’s fine, that grandpa won’t expose me, or he will lose everything he owns," prompting Alex to smile with relief.
"Rory, I will wear this watch from now on!"
"Hmm, you should..." Aurora says before she yawns. Her sleepiness finally kicks in.
They both fall asleep quickly during their first night at the cabin.
But the next day and throughout the week, they cherish their time together in this secluded place, free from gadgets that could distract them.
Without staff wandering nearby.
And, without work waiting for them to handle.
They spend the rest of the week soaking in the beauty of nature and celebrating their love for each other.
