Chapter 216: The Wedding Plan

Later that evening.

During their dinner together, with Thomas Moon joining in, Alex announced their plans to hold a wedding reception.

Of course, everyone was surprised to hear that.

"Oh, my dear Alex, you made a wonderful decision. Aurora deserved to get that..." Sophia couldn’t contain her happiness. She smiled at Aurora and continued, "Congratulations, dear. We need to plan a grand wedding party for you."

"What do you think, Matt?" Sophia asked, turning to her husband with her eyes sparkling with happiness.

"Absolutely, I agree!" Matthew Graystone expresses his support for his wife.

Aurora was speechless as she looked at how happy her in-laws were. She had always dreamed of a heartfelt and simple wedding celebration, not a grand one.

"Mom, Dad, we’re not planning a grand wedding celebration. Instead, we will only invite close family and friends. The wedding will be intimate and private!" Alex explained calmly.

Sophia and Matthew gazed at Alex in disbelief and concern. Their eyes then turned to Aurora, curious to see if she shared Alex’s idea.

"Aurora, do you agree with what Alex said? Or did Alex force you to have a small wedding?" Sophia asked, just wanting to make sure.

"No. Alex didn’t force me. That’s my idea to arrange a simple wedding ceremony," Aurora said with a warm smile as she saw Sophia and Matthew’s surprise.

Aurora quietly swallowed as she looked at Thomas Moon. Then, she returned her initial gaze toward her in-laws.

"I don’t have a large, close family. In fact... I have very few family members, but my relationship with my family in Opal City wasn’t like a family should be. That’s why I only want a small gathering with the people I care about—close friends and family."

"Oh dear, Aurora. We understand. I’m sorry to remind you about your family." Sophia hurriedly apologized for mentioning how awful her family was in Opal City.

"Alex, you should follow Aurora’s request," Matthew said with concern.

Alex chuckled as he looked at his father. He couldn’t believe he heard his father say those words.

"Dad, that’s what I’m trying to communicate to you and Mom. We didn’t want a grand wedding party, just something intimate for close family and friends." Alex took a deep sigh, frustrated.

Matthews Graystone cleared his throat before adding, "You did a good job. But Alex, if you ever need my help, just let me know..."

"Sure, Dad..." Alex smiled.

Delighted to hear about Aurora and Alex’s plan, Thomas eagerly asked, "When will you celebrate your wedding party?"

"Uncle Moon, we chose the day before my birthday. And after the party, we will go on our honeymoon."

"That sounds great. This way, you can both enjoy your celebration..." Thomas beamed with happiness.

"June 9, just a few weeks away. Son, may I assist you in organizing the venue and decorating?" Sophia offered excitedly.

However, Alex quickly dismissed the idea. He didn’t want his mother to be exhausted and involved in his wedding as she had been in the past. This time, he would make the utmost effort to give his wife the best.

"No need, Mom. I already have people who will arrange the venue and everything. You only need to come and enjoy the party."

"Alright...but make sure to create a beautiful wedding ceremony for our lovely Aurora," Sophia smiled at her daughter-in-law. She was eager to help but didn’t want to feel pressured.

They all keep enjoying their dinner as they discuss the wedding plans.

...

Once dinner was finished, Aurora and Alex excused themselves to their parents before heading to the second floor.

They didn’t rest right away but settled into the living room on the second floor and enjoyed the movie.

Aurora is curious about Alex’s wedding plans, as he has never shared any details. Whenever she asks, he simply replies, "I’m still arranging it!"

After finding the movie they wanted to watch, she turned to him warmly and asked, "Can you tell me about our wedding ceremony plans, Alex? I need to invite my friends, and they may want to know the location..."

With a warm glance, Alex looked her way.

"Do you remember the villa in the Golf Resort?"

Aurora nods. She certainly remembers. It was a beautiful villa with a white sandy beach, part of his company’s golf resort.

She visited the place multiple times with Alex. Each time, they stayed there for the weekend when he had to play golf with his business partners.

"So we will have our wedding there?"

"Hmm, I remember how much you enjoyed that place, and we often spent our weekends there. I want us to create memories together as husband and wife..." Alex paused when she blushed.

When Aurora tries to avoid his gaze, he asks, "Why are you blushing?"

"Ugh, well, I just remember the days we spent there, where I always prepared meals for the two of us..."

Aurora paused, a thought surfacing in her mind. Without hesitation, she grasped his hand and turned to face him, her expression shifting with the moment.

"What’s wrong? Why do you look shocked?" Alex asked, watching her expression shift from shy to surprised.

"Alex, did you purposely take me there every weekend because you have feelings for me? I recall you playing golf while I remained at the villa, waiting for you like your wi..." She can’t finish her words.

Aurora felt embarrassed when she imagined herself as his wife. That always happened whenever they visited that villa.

"You know I care deeply for you, but sometimes it feels hard to express all my feelings with everything happening around us. I feel calm, comfortable, and at peace whenever we’re together at that villa. It’s likely because it’s just you and me there..."

"Geez, Alex, if only you had just told your feelings that time. Maybe I will waver and consider you. I knew you cared for me back then, but I always thought that care was because I worked for you. After all, I’m the most trusted personal assistant to you..."

"Well, I’m a bit afraid to share my feelings with you, Rory, because I worry you might want to distance yourself. I don’t want things to feel awkward between us. And, of course, for that silly reason..."

Alex’s face darkened as he recalled the past connection between the Graystone and Moon families.

Seemingly aware of his thoughts, Aurora refrained from asking further questions. She allowed him a moment to process his emotions.

They enjoy the movie together for quite a while, soaking in fun, until she gently voices her concern, "Alex, did you ever consider just breaking your family rules?"

Aurora recently discovered that Alex thoughtfully created his business with a specific purpose in mind: to ensure that if he ever decided to choose his wife, his parents wouldn’t hold his inheritance over his head. He felt confident in his independence and didn’t rely on the family company; he had built his own wealth.

Alex sighed deeply before he answered her.

"Well, a few times I think about it. But I’m worried about your father, so I hold myself. And when I hinted at Grandpa about my feelings for you, he..." Alex again couldn’t continue his words, too angry to think about what his grandpa did to Aurora.

"Alex... I’m sorry. It brings back those memories again."

She now feels awful looking at his slightly red eyes.

"Hey, I’m okay..."

Alex smiled, wrapping his arm around her and embracing her.

"I’m just a little angry..."

"Okay, let’s set that aside for now. I’m excited to continue discussing our wedding ceremony plans." Aurora cheerfully said.

"Hmm, I already asked Alvin and Alan to take care of everything. They’ve reached out to some amazing people to create the stunning decorations for us. Ah..."

Alex gently let go of her and looked into her eyes with warmth.

"Rory, is there anything you’d like to ask? Perhaps about the type of fresh flowers or the decoration style you like?" he asked with concern, realizing he hadn’t given her an opportunity to participate.

Aurora smiled and gently shook her head.

"Alex, if you ask Alvin, he already knows what I like..."

"Really? So Alvin knows about it...? About the flower you like? Your favorite food?" Alex was taken aback. He feels awful now since he just found out about it recently.

"Hmm! Alvin worked with me for many years. He and I had many conversations. Naturally, he will recall my preferences: the food, the flowers, and all the little details..."

Alex feels even worse, but later, he smiles, "Oh dear, but Alvin didn’t know you are Aurora Moon..."

Instantly, Aurora’s expression became tense.

"My goodness, how could I forget?" She slapped her head gently. "I will send it to Alvin about things like that."

"Okay. You can communicate with him."

"Mmm... I’ll get in touch with him. But Alex, what about the wedding gown? You will let me choose it myself, yeah?"

"Of course, dear! Tomorrow, someone will come by to discuss that with you..."

"Thank you, Alex..."

Aurora and Alex spent the whole night captivated by a lively discussion about the exciting details of their wedding celebration.
