Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 208: Promised!
Chapter 208: Promised!
Alex and Aurora ignored Patrick completely, their attention fully captured by each other. They exchanged loving glances while gently squeezing each other’s hands.
"Heck no!!" Patrick finally broke the silence to get Alex’s attention. "Are you fucking serious, Alex?" he asked, but Alex simply ignored him.
It’s hard for Patrick to accept. In his mind, Zee appeared to be someone closer to his age; however, this young woman was just twenty-two and had already established herself as the most formidable hacker he had ever encountered.
Patrick struggled to recall when he first met Zee—it must have been eight or nine years ago. If she truly is Zee, this girl has already become a skilled hacker in her early teens.
He narrowed his eyes at Aurora for a few moments before asking, "It’s impossible you are Zee! How could you be this young? If you are Zee, you were 13 years old when I knew you..."
Aurora was utterly speechless when she realized how right he was.
’If only you knew I’m Aurora Moon, you’d probably believe it immediately, Patrick.’ She expresses her frustration in his mind, struggling to find the right words to respond.
As Aurora managed to find the right words to respond to Patrick, suddenly Alex spoke, "Patrick, we only informed you. We didn’t ask you to believe it or not."
Patrick, "...."
Aurora gazed at Patrick, who remained skeptical of Alex’s words. Finally, she smiled teasingly and said, "Well, Patrick, you’re right. I’ve been a computer whiz since childhood and became Zee in my teens. Why are you so surprised to learn that?"
"No way! Seriously? You are Zee?" Patrick was even more shocked to hear Aurora’s confirmation.
"As Alex mentioned, we’re not here to convince you but to share information with you. Just between us, this is a big secret, Patrick. I must insist that you keep it to yourself and carry this knowledge to your grave! Otherwise, you will become my enemy. Once you become my enemy, you know I can be quite relentless, right?"
Aurora’s serene expression slowly shifted, unveiling a threat. freeweɓnovel~cѳm
Patrick no longer thought that Aurora and Alex were pranking him. He believed them. This young woman is Zee.
"What my wife tried to say to you..." Alex chimed in. He paused to get Patrick’s attention before continuing. "We believe you; we already think of you as our family. That’s why we share this information. No one else in this building knows, only the three of us. So, I hope you can be proud of yourself because we chose to reveal it to you."
"Yeah, that’s true..." Aurora added with a warm smile.
Instantly, a proud smile spread across Patrick’s lips.
Patrick nodded quickly and said, "Alex, Aurora, thank you for sharing this information. I will keep it till death takes me! I promise!!" He lifted his hand and made a V sign to strengthen his statement.
The three of them chatted for a while before Aurora finally urged them to return to work. She also needed to begin working, or else they might end up talking nonsense until lunch.
As soon as Aurora stepped into her office, she was warmly welcomed by the cheerful ringing of her desk phone.
She picked up right away, and the familiar voice on the other end sounded excited about his silly question.
"No. I’m at home. Of course, I’m at the office. You call my desk phone, silly! What is it, David?"
"Hahaha, yeah. Sorry for that. Aurora, can you join us for lunch?"
"Gosh, David, it’s only ten o’clock, and you’re already thinking about lunch?" Aurora laughed warmly, settling into her chair.
"Come on, Aurora... join Max and me for lunch today. You’ve been so busy lately, and catching up with you is tough..." David tries once more to persuade Aurora.
"I can’t guarantee that. What if my husband wants to have lunch with me? You all would feel awkward with him there, right?"
"Oh no! I completely forgot that you’re married to our boss!" David laughed from the other end. "Could you possibly ask him to skip lunch with you today? And please spare us your time, Aurora..."
Aurora quietly took a deep sigh. She genuinely wanted to have lunch with them to celebrate their new positions in the company. They are no longer interns and have transitioned to full-time employees at Stardust Tech.
Still, she is concerned that Alex may request her time.
After giving it a little thought, she happily decided to join them. "Alright, I will talk to him. Where are you guys going to lunch?"
"We have already made a reservation at sister Rena’s restaurant."
"What the heck... You should let me know sooner. Alex won’t stop me if we eat there. Okay, I’ll join you guys!"
"Haha, my apologies! I forgot to bring it up. Okay, see you later!"
Once Aurora hung up the phone, she was swamped with stuff on her desk, especially about their Stardust Tech.
As she got wrapped up in her supercomputer, time flew by, and she didn’t even realize it was almost lunchtime.
She only pauses her work when she hears a knock at the door, and Alvin walks into her office.
"Would you like me to order lunch for boss Alex, or do you prefer to cook for him?" he inquired.
"Please place the order as usual. I have a lunch meeting at Serendipity Restaurant, and he will have lunch alone."
Aurora grabbed her cell phone and exited her office. She needed to notify Alex before she left.
...
Upon arriving in the lobby, Aurora was surprised to find Josh talking with Max and David. She immediately approached them.
"I’m sorry for making you wait, everyone..." Aurora said with a warm smile. She felt guilty for taking a few minutes to persuade Alex to let her have lunch with her friends.
"It’s okay, Aurora..." Max replies nonchalantly.
"Let’s go!" David enthusiastically asked them to begin their walk.
When Aurora noticed that Josh was following them, she slowed her pace and walked beside him.
"Did Alex tell you to follow me?"
Josh smiled, unable to lie to her.
"Big Boss had someone else in mind to follow you, but when he found out I was available, he asked me to take over instead."
Aurora could only laugh to herself. Alex knows how capable she is, yet she still doesn’t allow herself to walk alone.
As they made their way to Serendipity, Aurora used the chance to speak with Josh.
"How’s your life been recently, Josh?" Aurora asked since she rarely saw him in the office or at home. When he did appear, she only greeted him and had little time to talk to him.
"I had just returned from another city to handle a few things. But I returned today. And..." Josh paused his words and seemed reluctant to continue, which only made Aurora curious about it.
"What is it, Josh?" She demands.
Josh leans in and whispers to her, "Congratulations on your pregnancy, Aurora. I’m so happy for you."
"He told you?"
"Yes. He has tasked me to return as your security detail. Bodyguard," Josh said, scratching his hair.
Aurora smiled warmly upon hearing that. She would let Josh guard her again because she completely understood Alex’s concern.
"I’m glad to see you back, Josh. But please keep my pregnancy a secret—it’s too early to share that with friends and family."
"Yes, ma’am. My mouth is sealed!"
...
Aurora and the others were surprised to find Danny at the restaurant, especially Max, who had not expected to see his older brother there. This unexpected encounter immediately put him in a bad mood.
"Rory! I thought you were still resting at home!" Renata said, her eyes beaming with joy at looking at Aurora arriving alongside the others. She did not know that her best friends would have time to attend lunch with David and Max.
Renata happily welcomed Aurora, guiding her to a cozy seat beside her. Danny sat before them. Meanwhile, the others found a comfortable spot at a nearby table.
"Hi, Rory, I’m glad you came..." Danny smiled at her and continued eating his salad nonchalantly.
Aurora beamed with joy as she gazed at her best friend, who had finally achieved his wish of officially dating Renata after numerous rejections.
"Hi, why are you here at lunchtime? You seem so relaxed, Mr. Hamilton..."
Danny chuckled and set the cutlery on the plate. He smiled playfully at Aurora before asking, "Rory, you already know about me and Rena, right?"
"I know!" Aurora exclaimed, extending her hand to Danny for a warm congratulatory handshake. "Congrats, my friend; you finally tamed Rena’s heart..." They smiled at each other, sharing in the moment’s joy.
"Geez, Rory..." Renata protested but laughed when she saw Aurora smile teasingly at her.
"Thank you, Rory!" Danny answered her shyly. He still couldn’t believe that Renata had finally accepted his marriage proposal after several failed attempts, and a few days ago she suddenly accepted it.
"So, when are you two getting married?" Aurora inquired, lowering her voice out of concern that Max might not know their wedding plans.
