Rebirth as The Billionaire's Seventh Wife-Chapter 206: Heartfelt Family Dinner
Chapter 206: Heartfelt Family Dinner
As Aurora entered the living room, she was surprised to find Sophia and Matthew conversing casually with her father.
She didn’t expect him to join them for dinner as well.
"Aurora, it’s great to see you awake. How are you feeling, my dear?" Sophia asked cheerfully as she invited her to join them.
"Are you feeling alright, Rory?" A worried flash crosses Thomas Moon’s face, making Aurora feel guilty for causing their concern.
"Sophia, Uncle, I’m fine. I just overslept. I’m really sorry to make you all wait." She smiled, easing the concern of the elders around her.
"It’s fine, Aurora. We didn’t rush to start dinner because we were waiting for Alex. He will join us soon, so I hope you can wait a little longer; he should be here shortly..." Matthew said with a warm smile as he saw Aurora approach them.
"Yes, I’m fine. I’m not hungry yet. I’ll go outside to wait for him," Aurora hurriedly said as she headed to the main entrance for Alex.
Just as Aurora exited the main door, Alex’s car stopped in the front yard. Alex quickly exited the vehicle.
She noticed he was only wearing his white slim-fit outfit while holding his suit in his hand.
Once he saw her, a smile slowly appeared on his lips. "Rory, why are you coming outside?" he said, stepping faster.
"I was surprised when I was told you would join us for dinner. Why did you cancel your meeting, Alex?"
"Cancel? Of course not. I showed up, but I skipped the long talks. I wasn’t about to spend the whole night with them," Alex chuckled, stopping in front of her and pulling her in for a hug.
"So, I’m just here to chill with my wife." He said. When Alex noticed her still narrowing her eyes in disbelief, he continued, "Do you remember that the dinner starts early? It’s scheduled for six, so..."
"I understand." She smiled warmly at him. "I’m just concerned that you appear distracted with work again, Alex."
"For my wife, of course, I will do anything. If necessary, I will appoint someone to run my business..." he casually answered as he led her to the house.
"Wow, you’ve changed a lot since back then! I remember you didn’t seem to care much about all your ex-wives."
Aurora teased, a playful smile on her face. But then, as if a thought struck her, she pressed her lips together, recalling something.
Alex shot her a sidelong glance, narrowing his eyes in silent protest.
"My pretty wife, did you forget what you promised?"
She feels a bit regretful for forgetting her promise not to bring up his past again.
"I’m starting to feel hungry, Alex." She tries to divert their conversation.
Luckily, Alex didn’t talk about it any longer. He rushed into the living room to join the rest of the family, and Alex asked everyone to get dinner started.
...
The warm and cozy family dinner in their home filled Aurora with joy, especially since her father was able to join them tonight.
She noticed the joy in her father’s eyes as he conversed with Matthew, his former master. Now, they seemed more like best friends than anything else.
Just like her past relationship with Alex, she grew with Alex, and her father also grew alongside Matthew Graystone. When her father no longer worked as Matthew’s assistant, they became close like best friends.
Every time Matthew comes to their house, he usually spends time in the stone house with her father. It would be wonderful if only they knew they were actually in-laws.
Aurora is genuinely happy to see how her father spends his days—relaxed without work pressure, but still happy surrounded by people he is familiar with and cares for, even though he is really alone without family.
A few times, Alex always mentions to her father that they already consider him family, and it appears her father is happy to hear that.
When they finally enjoyed their dessert, Sophia suddenly started talking about her plan with Matthew for a family summer vacation. She suggested that Alex and Aurora join them, too.
Aurora was surprised by that offer. She had never experienced a summer vacation before, as her life had always revolved around work. Her boss, Alex, was just as passionate about work.
And now, hearing Sophia’s plan to holiday on the island, she felt curious.
’It would be wonderful to spend some days on their private island this year...’ Aurora mused as she tried to concentrate on her apple pie.
Slowly, her mind began to wander towards food. The apple pie Sophia made really blew her mind away. Recently, she found herself enjoying sweet foods more and is starting to worry that she might gain weight quickly, which she’s pretty sure of.
When Aurora was lost in her thoughts about her apple pie, Alex stared at her with concern.
Noticing her unspoken feelings, Alex leaned in and asked, "Do you want to go?"
"To go where?" Aurora asked, puzzled as she gazed into his eyes.
"Vacation with my parents," Alex answered with a smile when he saw her still eating her pie. He put another slice of pie on her plate. "I can spare time to go with them if you want."
"Yes, yes, come with us, Aurora! I heard from Tina that you don’t get to visit the beach much," Sophia said with a bright smile.
"Yes, it would be so much fun if you both could join us! Thomas will also join us..." Matthew added, surprised Aurora.
If her father joined them, Aurora saw no reason to decline. She quickly nodded in agreement and then smiled at Alex.
"Alex, if you can go. I would love to follow." Aurora beamed with happiness. The trip would be fantastic, as this is the first time they will go on vacation as a family.
With a warm smile, Alex nods before turning to his mother. freёwebnoѵel.com
"When are you guys going there?" He asked.
"Friday."
"Friday?" Aurora whispers, casting another glance at Alex with a hint of concern.
"Alex, I have graduation on Friday. It seems we won’t be able to join them that day... But maybe we could find a way to catch up with them on Saturday instead?"
Aurora received the email from her faculty a month ago, but she had completely forgotten about it. If only David hadn’t reminded her this afternoon, she might have missed her university graduation.
"Rory, you have a graduation ceremony? Why didn’t you let me know?" Alex asked in surprise. "Are you planning not to tell me?" he asked, a hint of disappointment flashing in his eyes.
"Of course, I’ll let you know. But I totally forgot. I only recall when David reminded me earlier today..." She explained.
"Are you having a graduation ceremony, Aurora? This Friday, right!?" Sophia, who overheard, asked.
"Yes, the day after tomorrow..."
"Don’t worry, we are going to the island next Friday," Sophia answered with relief. She was already worried that Aurora and Alex wouldn’t join them.
"Oh, right. Can we come to your graduation?" Sophia is excited to learn that her daughter-in-law will graduate.
Aurora suddenly feels anxious. How can she come to her graduation alongside the Graystone family? Attending together will expose her status as Alex’s wife.
She didn’t plan to ask Alex to come. She would rather invite Renata as her sister than Alex. And now, upon hearing Sophia, she feels confused about how to respond.
"Mom, you can’t come to Rory’s graduation," Alex replied to his mother.
When she hears Alex’s answer, Sophie feels disappointed but says nothing more, as she knows that Aurora and Alex’s marriage is still a secret. They have not yet announced it to the public.
Aurora felt relieved to hear that. It was comforting to know that Alex understood her worry. She smiled at him, but seconds later, her smile faded as Alex continued with his words.
"Mom, if you’re worried that no one will accompany Rory, there’s no need. I will come to her graduation..." He smiled lovingly, looking at Aurora’s surprised gaze.
The silence lingers in the room as all pairs of eyes are now fixed on Alex.
"Are you ready to announce your marriage, Alex?" Matthew’s question broke the silence, sparking everyone’s curiosity about how Alex would respond.
Alex didn’t rush to answer his father.
Instead, he gently squeezed Aurora’s hand, his eyes never leaving her. He wanted to tell her, "It’s fine. Everything will be okay," through his gaze.
He stared gently at her for a while, trying to calm her emotions. He understood how she felt now, nervous about their marriage being exposed.
Alex knew Aurora would refuse every time he brought up this issue. She always said she was not ready yet.
But the baby is on the way now. They can’t hide their marriage any longer.
After giving her hand one last squeeze, Alex looks at his parents before responding to his father’s question.
"Yes, Dad... I’m always ready to announce it to the public. And I have no reason to hide it any longer because Rory already graduated, and she is pregnant..."
Alex’s words surprised Sophia and Matthew, leaving them in shock.
