Chapter 181: Confrontation (1)

At the Graystone family’s house.

Just before Alex headed to Andrew Graystone’s study room, his cell phone rang. He was surprised to see Josh’s name appear on the screen.

Worried that something might happen to Aurora, he immediately stopped and made his way to the corner window.

"Josh, what is it?" he asked anxiously.

"I need to report something to you, boss."

Josh’s voice was low and filled with concern, and Alex couldn’t help but feel a wave of worry swallow him.

"Tell me right now, Josh! Why do you make me so anxious? Is something wrong with my wife?"

Alex clenched his cell phone tightly, and his expression shifted to one of growing concern.

Josh’s sigh nearly caused Alex to rush back home.

"Boss, your wife is quite unusual. Just now, she invited me to a duel... and she seemed very serious."

Alex silently cursed Josh for making him worry about this matter. He already knew that Aurora wanted to spar with Josh.

He allowed her to spar with Josh because he knew that Aurora regularly trained with him in the past—they have almost the same abilities.

"Did you accept her?" Alex asked calmly. He felt confident that his wife would be okay, even though she seemed weak. He knew she had been training hard lately to regain her strength and agility.

"Of course not, boss. How could I ever accept her challenge? I worry that it might hurt her if I do. That’s why I’m reaching out to you now—to help prevent her from challenging me. Again," Josh said.

"Josh, you need to accept her," Alex said, pausing to take a deep breath. "You should let her train with you."

"Wh-what? B-Boss, are you really letting her do this? Or did I misunderstand?" Josh’s puzzled voice came from the other end.

"You heard it right," Alex said, shaking his head, and making his way to his grandfather’s study.

"And Josh, stop calling me for useless things like this. When did she challenge you?" Alex asked, growing annoyed because Josh was only slowing his plan.

"Tomorrow at the gym on the third floor," Josh replied, even though he was still confused why Alex allowed them to duel.

"Josh, listen... You will show up tomorrow and accept her challenge!"

With that, Alex quickly hung up the phone, leaving Josh with no chance to respond.

After taking several deep breaths to calm himself, Alex gently tapped the door before him.

As soon as Alex heard his grandfather calling him in, he opened the door. To his surprise, he found his father seated before his grandfather.

"Oh, Alex, you’ve finally arrived..." Andrew Graystone smiled as he looked at his grandson, motioning for him to sit beside him. "What made you want to meet me so early?"

Andrew smiled as he watched Alex make his way to join them. However, when he saw Alex sitting in the farthest seat from him, his brow slightly wrinkled in confusion.

"Are you alright, Alex?" Andrew asked.

With concern, Matthew asked, "Are you in trouble, my son?"

Andrew and Matthew Graystone were puzzled by Alex’s early arrival at their main house.

Alex glanced unhappily at his father. "Dad, why are you here?" he asked.

"Why not? This is my house..." Matthew chuckled in response to his son’s unusual expression.

Matthew seldom sees his son express emotion in front of them. However, today, he appears both angry and sad, making him want to stay longer to hear what his son says.

"As the CEO of Graystone Group, you should be in the office, right!? Why are you still here?" Alex asked, his tone resembling a protest. He can’t begin to expose his grandfather if his father is with them.

Matthew beamed, casually brushing off Alex’s annoyance.

"Well, my son, I have a director who works for me. I paid them a huge sum of money to do their work properly. Besides, I miss my only son. Of course, I will stay here to chat with you for a while. Right, my son?"

Alex felt defeated upon hearing that. Not wanting to argue with his father, he shifted his gaze back to his grandfather.

"Grandpa, can we talk privately? Could you please ask my dad to give us a moment alone?" Alex asked.

Matthew was speechless.

"What? Alex, you... How could you do that to your dad?" Matthew protested, surprised and disappointed at hearing his son ask him to leave the room.

Frustrated, Matthew looked at his father. "You can’t agree with Alex, Father... I need to hear what he has to say..." he urged, growing more curious and hesitant to leave.

Andrew Graystone laughed as he watched his son and grandson argue with each other. He looked at them in turn before fixing his gaze on Alex.

"You can talk now, brat! No need to ask your father to leave. We’re family; there’s nothing to hide from him..."

Alex sneered to himself. He gritted his teeth, eager to show his anger immediately, yet his mind urged him to appear calm.

’There’s nothing to hide? After you orchestrate everything to eliminate Rory, just because I like her? Grandpa, you are wicked and shameless!!’ Alex vented his frustration silently.

"Alright, if you really insist," Alex replied with a faint smile, his gaze fixed on his grandfather. "But don’t be shocked by what I’m about to say."

Andrew laughed warmly at his grandson’s unusual behavior. "Brat, hurry up and talk. Why are you making us even more curious..."

"Grandpa, this might embarrass you and the entire family." Alex took his time to share his thoughts.

Gradually, the smile on Andrew Graystone’s face faded away.

"Honestly, ever since Rory died, I have been investigating the car accident that took her life. Recently, I discovered a significant clue..." Alex paused again. He could only laugh sadly in his heart, watching his grandfather’s hands clenched tightly and his facial expression growing paler.

"I have located the truck driver!" Alex revealed.

Andrew Graystone was obviously taken aback; nevertheless, he chose to remain silent.
