Chapter 179: Refused!

Monday morning.

Alex leaves the house early, stepping out shortly after they enjoy breakfast together.

Aurora walked him to the front yard to his car and asked, "Why did you leave so early, Alex? Is there an important meeting at the office?"

Alex leans closer to her; instead of answering, he kisses her.

After giving her a gentle kiss on the lips, he smiles warmly and responds in his soothing voice.

"No. I need to meet your father now. And also, my grandpa."

Immediately, Aurora senses that her whole limb feels stiff.

She knew Alex would eventually talk to them, but she didn’t expect him to meet them today.

"Don’t worry, Rory. I’ll handle everything." Alex carries on, seemingly aware of Aurora’s thoughts. "Go inside and get some rest... You still look tired..." He feels guilty for wearing her out two nights in a row.

Aurora took a deep breath, remembering their wild night. It was enjoyable but slightly exhausting. So, she was still sleepy. Alex let her sleep after their fourth climax, and it was already before dawn. He was absolutely right—she was worn out!

"Alex, I am still sleepy, but I can’t sleep right now. Because Renata and Danny are coming over in an hour." She smiled warmly at him. "It’s alright. I can catch some sleep once they leave..."

She was unaware that her relationship with Alex would take a significant turn after they returned from his family’s house. She wouldn’t agree to meet Renata and Danny today if she knew they would spend most of the weekend in bed, not sleeping.

"Enjoy your day, my wife. I’ll ensure I’m back before dinner," Alex said softly while brushing her windblown hair aside and kissing her lips passionately for a minute.

He felt guilty, but also couldn’t resist her temptation. His wife was simply too hot to be left untouched for a second.

"Hmm..." she responds with a shy nod upon hearing him address her that way.

"Good luck, Alex. If you could, please call me after you meet them."

"Of course I will..."

Aurora stays where she is, even though Alex’s car has disappeared from view. She’s caught up in her thoughts, picturing her father’s surprise when he discovers that Andrew Graystone was indeed the actual perpetrator behind her accident.

’Dad! Please be strong!’

Aurora could sense her father’s disappointment, as he devoted his life to that family. Yet, that same family is also the one who stabbed him in the back.

...

"Aurora, what are you doing standing there?"

Josh’s voice caught her off guard, making her turn around to see him coming closer.

"I thought you were still unwell? Why are you here?" he asked, his slight frown revealing his genuine concern.

"I’m doing better! Still, Alex is pretty concerned about my health and asked Patrick to let me take a week off," Aurora said as she started walking toward the house.

"Hahaha, it sounds great when your husband is the company owner," Josh replied playfully.

Josh feels in a good mood now. He didn’t enjoy working undercover as a desk staff member. He wanted this to be over soon and returned to his usual job, which is more challenging than staring at a computer screen.

Aurora smiled, hearing his words.

"What about you? Why haven’t you left yet? You should be following Alex, shouldn’t you?" Aurora inquired, glancing back at him as he walked behind her.

"Yeah, that’s the plan. But suddenly, he asked me to stay here today because your friend will come over." Josh explained.

Aurora chuckled softly at that. Alex really couldn’t believe Danny.

Even though she had shared with Alex that Danny knew her as Aurora Moon, she also revealed that Danny had a crush on Renata. Unfortunately, Renata didn’t feel the same way about him.

’Silly, Alex... Why are you acting like a clingy teenager? Jealous toward Danny?’ She silently scolds him in her mind. She doesn’t know whether to feel happy or worried that Alex shows his love for her this much.

Aurora continues to the second floor. She plans to rest a bit before her friends arrive. But something crossed her mind before she stepped onto the stairs.

"Oh, right, Josh..." She glanced at him and said, "I challenge you to a duel tomorrow in the gym on the third floor. Please be ready!"

Josh nearly tripped over his own feet after hearing Aurora’s words. He stared at her, trying to see if she was joking. However, her calm expression made him speechless. She is serious!

"You’re challenging me to a duel? You want to fight me?" Josh asked, seeking clarification to ensure he heard correctly.

He chuckled as he noticed her nod and continued, "You could be hurt, Aurora. You better not put ideas to duel with me; you are not my match..."

Aurora couldn’t help but curse him in her heart when she saw his sneer. This man doubted her martial arts ability.

’Did he forget I crippled almost a dozen gangsters a few months ago?’ She silently took a deep sigh before smiling faintly at him.

"Well, Josh... If ’duel’ words aren’t your favorite, how about we switch it to ’sparring partner’? What do you think?" Aurora narrowed her eyes, trying to provoke him.

Instead of accepting her offer, Josh’s loud laughter echoed instantly.

"No, thank you. Your husband will kill me," Josh said with a light chuckle as he excused himself to return to his post.

Aurora smiled bitterly. She could picture that this would happen; Josh wouldn’t accept it.

’I guess I need to ask Alex...’ she wondered as she continued to the second floor.

...

At the Graystone family cemetery.

"Sir, we have arrived..." The voice of the head of security, Dave, echoed in the car, stirring Alex from his brief nap.

Alex quickly opened his eyes and checked his surroundings. Gradually, his expression became somber as he realized they had reached the parking lot of his family cemetery.

On his way to Aurora’s grave, he noticed Thomas Moon already waiting beside it.

"Uncle Moon..." Alex said softly, nodding slightly.

"Good morning, young master Alex!" Thomas Moon greets him warmly. "I’m curious... What made you want me to come here so early?"
