Chapter 35: Castle

'Why would a breach appear so fast?! It hasn't even been a week.'

The Fearmonger grabbed Zeph in her arms and guided them into a formation of denser mountains.

At the same time, the three gems picked up Nyssa since she didn't get the attribute change either.

Meanwhile, the metal arm had found the textbook used by them earlier.

A loud siren began to play from the Corrupted Shard mine.

More arms slowly stretched through the terrain towards the signal.

It was hard to pinpoint their source as they all came from different directions.

With a sharp turn, the demon leading the way had reached the spot, a small opening between two hills.

One by one, they caught up to her.

However as Leo was about to enter, one of the arms passed by, almost spotting him.

Just before it could look at him, Gloppy threw a rock in a different direction, grabbing its attention.

This allowed the summoner to jump over it before it looked back.

All of them looked worried about where they would go next since there was nothing around them but rocks and boulders.

The Fearmonger crouched and began scribbling the same runic language on the floor.

Gloppy looked out to see if anything was approaching them while the rest tried to not make a sound.

More arms passed by, covering the ground with their tentacles, scanning every last bit of the ground.

He hurried the demon with his hands and signaled that the arms were getting closer.

She sped up in carving the runes. Sweat started to drip down all of their faces as they could see one of the smaller tentacles getting their way.

It was getting closer and closer by the second until it was right in front of them.

In an instant, Leo took out his Spirit Sword and sliced the tentacle in half, alerting every other one to their position.

Loud sirens started to play as the metallic arms slithered their way at high speeds.

"How much longer do you need Fearmonger?!"

He shouted, now that their position was already compromised there was no reason to hide anymore.

"I need one minute!"

That was a daunting task as hundreds of arms snapped towards them, each one trying to snatch them.

The entire group had to protect Zeph and Fearmonger while also not getting snatched by the arms themselves.

Each time they destroyed one, it just slithered away to fix itself before coming back once again to strike them again.

Slimes and serpents were being summoned faster than Leo's Mana could keep up with the strength of the arms.

[No more Mana!]

One by one, the last summons fell and the tentacles went their way. Just as one tentacle was about to snatch Nyssa who was on the frontline away, an opening appeared under them.

"Jump in! Now!"

She had finally finished creating the circle, no one knew where it led but it was a better choice than staying up there.

An enormous arm turned into a drill and snapped towards Leo's head, barely missing it as he jumped down.

It hit the wall and covered the hole in which they were with a ruble that prevented the arms from coming after them.

"We are in the secret tunnels that only demons have access to, we can speak but don't be too loud"

The Fearmonger whispered while walking deeper into the tunnels. They spent a lot of time trying to find a way out as all the other entrances were caved in.

[20 minutes left until the Breach]

Time was quickly running out and they had no idea how close they were or if there was even a way out, but they wouldn't be able to exit from the original entrance anyway.

"How many are left ?"

Zeph inquired while walking closely to everyone. She was in the worst position since she wasn't even Unbound.

A regular human would have a hard time on the first floor let alone in a place like this.

"That will be the last one..."

The source of this c𝓸ntent is frёeweɓηovel.coɱ.

This answer daunted all of them, if they didn't find an exit there, they would be stuck under the ground when the breach happened.

They cautiously approached, feeling the uneasiness grow the closer they got. Sounds came from the end of the tunnel which gave them hope that it wasn't destroyed.

As they reached the end, Fearmonger put her hand on the wall where the exit should be and scribbled the runic passcode.

All of them sighed with relief as the wall opened, finally letting them out.

When they stepped outside, they were shocked to find a castle. Even Leo was shocked even though he knew that demon castles existed.

That was because it looked remodeled.

Tubes pumping the black liquid spread through the whole castle, going all the way to the middle of the castle where they suddenly turned downwards.

There was no shortage of slaves either as they pulled carts filled with unrefined shards somewhere.

"Nyssa, you and Zeph should stay here until we come back"

Leo muttered to the two women. Since they couldn't communicate with him once they left the tunnel it felt like too high of a risk to let go.

Nyssa nodded unhappily, but she understood his worries and knew that it made sense from a strategic point of view to do that.

Now, that the group was smaller they had more freedom in how it moved. They split into two smaller groups.

All of the slimes went together, and Leo was left with The Fearmonger, they also decided who went where.

[We will check the middle, you and the three gems will check the top.]

And that's how they split, going their separate ways to find out what the hell is going on.

Using Fearmonger's ability to fly, they traversed the castle easily but found nothing that important no matter how hard they searched.

Slaves and piles of Corrupt Shards were ever-present.

As they were about to go back to run for the gate to fend off the breach, they heard two voices talking loudly.

"Just shut up he will be here shortly!"

Their confidence in not being silent meant that they weren't afraid of being caught by the arms. Leo tapped the demon's shoulder and signaled her to go towards them.

Two high-class demons talked on one of the balconies over the place where all the tubes connected.

They sat by a long table filled with luxurious food, one looked rather anxious while the other was full of himself.

"And what about it? He is not our boss, just a lackey sent here to check on us."

The demon scoffed as he put both of his legs on the table, kicking off the food that was in the way.

Some of the food spilled onto the ground below them right in front of the starving slaves. Seeing them fight over the food fueled him with anger.

He walked over to the balcony, barely missing The Fearmonger and Leo hiding under it, and screamed at the workers.

"If you have time to eat instead of working then some disciplinary action will do you some good!"

As he was about to snap his fingers, a portal opened behind him and a cloaked figure entered the room, sitting by the table.

"W-we welcome you o great one!"
