Chapter 992: Chapter 992: We’re Not Outsiders

Alexander’s words initially made Isla frown, but when she saw him winking at her, she seemed to realize something, and her furrowed brows gradually relaxed.

"Alright." After responding to Alexander, Isla turned to look at Christopher and Sophia, "Father-in-law! Mother-in-law! We’ll leave first and let the two kids stay here."

After speaking, she didn’t wait for a response and stood up from the sofa, looking ready to leave.

Seeing this, Alexander quickly stood up as well, "We’ll be going now."

Seeing his wife cooperate with his actions, he felt a weight lift off his shoulders immediately.

Seeing the in-laws stand up, Christopher and Sophia quickly stood up as well. Sophia was the first to try and persuade them to stay, "Why are you leaving so soon? Stay a little longer."

As she spoke, she started walking over to the couple, worried they were leaving because of earlier unpleasantness.

"My elder sister has something for us," Isla quickly met Sophia halfway as she walked over, explaining their reason for leaving, though it was a tale her husband had fabricated. She felt compelled to act as if it were true.

Seeing the couple insist, Sophia’s suspicions gradually lessened, but she still wanted them to stay, "Does it have to be now? Can’t it wait until later?"

Things couldn’t be that urgent, they had just finished eating.

"My sister asked us to come over this morning, but we said we would visit here first and go straight over afterward." Isla didn’t really wish to leave so soon, as the earlier discussion hadn’t reached a conclusion. But she was worried Alexander might get angry, so she resisted the urge to stay and lied to leave.

Regardless of the truth of Isla’s story, Sophia didn’t press further to keep them, "Alright, then we’ll chat another day when we have more time."

The four of them certainly needed to discuss things together because their children were about to divorce, and the four of them wouldn’t just stand by idly.

"Okay."

The four of them exchanged pleasantries and walked towards the living room door together.

Benjamin realized from the beginning that his parents were putting on an act, claiming his aunt wanted them for something, just making it all up to deceive people.

Alice was also doubtful about the whole thing, but she didn’t care whether what they said was true or not, nor did she care if they left. What she cared about was whether they would let her stay with them.

They left without resolving the issue, which made her happy because if they kept discussing it, she wouldn’t have known what to say.

Unlike Benjamin, who remained seated on the sofa, indifferent, Alice immediately stood up when she saw the four elders heading out and followed them.

"Alice! Sit down, there’s no need to see us off; we’re not outsiders after all." Seeing Alice follow, Isla gestured with her hand for her to stay put.

Noticing this, Christopher quickly glanced back and saw Alice following. He immediately stopped her, "Stay with Benjamin; we’ll see them out ourselves."
