Sophia’s sudden interjection caught everyone off guard, especially the three elders, except for Alice.
She had always allied herself with those three, advancing and retreating together, but today she was repeatedly speaking up for Alice.
"Sophia! Don’t speak out of turn, Alice is married now, as parents we shouldn’t voice our opinions so freely." Fearful that his in-laws would be displeased, Christopher quickly intervened to prevent Sophia from speaking further.

"Dad! I’m married, but I’m still your and Mom’s daughter." Alice glanced at the frustrated Sophia, unable to hold back, she retorted to Christopher, hoping to express her displeasure to Isla.
She actually had no issues with her mother-in-law, Isla, and had always liked her, but today, hearing Isla’s words, she felt differently about her mother-in-law.
Christopher could sense that Alice was doing it intentionally, deliberately speaking for him to hear, for Isla to hear, just to give Sophia a chance to vent.
"You’re certainly our daughter, but now you’re part of the Shaw family, you can’t act so recklessly anymore." With the Shaw parents sitting nearby, he felt compelled to intervene before they said something outrageous.

Seeing Alice about to say something that would anger Christopher, Sophia promptly interrupted to stop her, cooling her down instantly.

With the situation spiraling like this, he felt anxious and somewhat angry, worried about what she might say next, he swiftly interjected.
Isla nodded, agreeing: "Yes! Benjamin and Alice are all our children, matters concerning them should be discussed together."
After speaking, she turned to Alice sitting next to Sophia, about to say something when she suddenly felt a poke on her arm, instinctively turning to look at the man beside her.
"Weren’t we going to visit my sister’s house? Let’s go, let Benjamin and Alice stay a bit longer with Easton." Alexander discreetly tugged at Isla’s sleeve, signaling her to leave with him first.
