Chapter 93: Do You Like Me?

Marx was secretly watching Amaya while talking about a possible collaboration with the kings of Lireya and Albania. There were two major projects that he thought would be a win-win for all parties involved. He became engrossed with the conversation. When he looked at Amaya, his eyes narrowed when he saw Raquim pour wine into Amaya’s glass.

"Tell me Princess, how did you and Marx meet?" Raquim looked at Amaya sideways. They were sitting side by side at the table. He took an intake of breath because Amaya has a beautiful profile.

"I was bathing in the river near the waterfalls when Kalil pounced on him. He was wading in the shallow part of the river and he has a lot of wounds. He passed out right at the moment when Kalil attacked him." Amaya recounted how they met for the first time. She blushed when she realized she was fully naked at that time. Now that she became aware, she felt embarrassed. Did Marx saw her naked body?

Raquim felt a pang of jealousy when Amaya mentioned that she was bathing. It looked like that Marx has a head start in his relationship with the Princess. Did Marx saw Amaya bathing?

"Kalil?" He asked.

"He is my tiger. We practically grew up together. He was the cub of my first pet tiger."

"You have a tiger for a pet?" Tamara exclaimed with wide eyes.

"Yes. I also have a wolf and an ape." a trace of gloominess clouded Amaya’s face, but it was gone in a flash.

"I am envious of you. Can I meet your animal friends?" Tamara looked at Amaya with expectant eyes. The birthday celebrant can only nod her head.

"How long did Marx stay on the island?" Prince Raquim probed Amaya. He looked so serious like he was interrogating a prisoner.

’Two weeks. He slept for three days and we left after two weeks when the volcano was erupting."

’Two weeks. Indeed a lot could happen in two weeks and there are just the two of them.’ Raquim finished the wine in his glass and poured another glassful. ’No wonder they looked intimate.’

When he looked at Amaya, she looked so pure, naive, and innocent. He just hoped that Marx did not take advantage of her.

"Did you sleep with him? It was just you and him on an island. And you were wearing this sexy outfit. Marx wouldn’t be a man if he did not sleep with you." Tamara was tactless with her words. She showed a photo of Amaya wearing her hunting outfit.

Amaya remembered the ruckus when she said last time that she slept with Marx so she spoke carefully.

"Marx was seriously wounded and he is a very nice person."

Prince Raquim heaved a sigh of relief.

At 11:00 pm, everyone called it a night. Servants escorted the royalties to their designated rooms. Raquim left reluctantly. He hoped that he will have a chance to interact with her in the morning.

"Princess, are you heading back to your room?’ Lilia asked her. She shook her head and glanced toward the far end of the banquet hall, to the corridor going to the restroom. She saw her cousin Tatiana talking to Marx. She was tugging at his arms and they looked intimate. Amaya felt her heart tighten and a strange emotion she was not familiar with engulfed her.

"Follow me. I’d like to watch the stars." She went outside of the banquet hall and walked to the lounge chair beyond the pond.

Lilia followed her and she was nervous because it was already very late. Amaya sat on the lounge chair. She was in a half-sitting position. She placed her two palms underneath her head and looked up at the stars in the sky. She stayed motionless while feeling nostalgic.

"Do you like watching the stars?" Amaya asked with eyes closed expecting to hear Lilia’s voice.

"Yes. They remind me of your sparkling eyes." A deep magnetic voice spoke from the lounge chair beside her.

"Marx, you are here." Amaya tilted her body to face him. "I meant to ask you to accompany me earlier but I saw you talking to Tatiana." She sounded aggrieved. She was not happy to see Tatiana getting too close to Marx. She did not understand why she felt that way.

"Your cousin was drunk. She asked me to accompany her to her room." Marx paused and glance sideways at Amaya. He saw that her gaze was focused on him. "I asked the servant to take her."

Amaya smiled. "I think she likes you," she said matter-of-factly. "She makes it very obvious."

"I think so. She made every effort to throw herself at me and seduce me." Marx commented drily.

Marx shifted his body so he was facing Amaya. The distance between their lounge chair was about one meter. "How about you Aya. Do you like me?" Marx’s lips quivered as he said those words. His voice was hoarse.

"I think so. I like to be with you. I miss you when you are not around." Amaya said frankly.

Marx felt happy. He tried to hide the grin on his face.

"You are eighteen now and already an adult. Starting today, I will treat you like I would an adult."

"Okay. That is a good thing then."

"Tomorrow we go to the island to sign the deed of sale. I also sent a document for Simply Jewel earlier, have you received them?"

She nodded.

Amaya was silent for some time. Marx glanced at her. "What’s wrong?" He wanted to make sure that nothing happened to the princess who was still in her blue gown.

"Nothing. It seemed like it is just a dream. Do I really own an island?"

"Of course!" Marx paused and looked at the stars dreamily.

"I am going to stay here for three months. I will help settle the animals in their new home at the island."

Amaya stood from her chair and transferred to the lounge chair where Marx was lying down. She gave him an innocent smile then she quickly hug him and kissed him on the cheeks.

Marx was stunned. He wanted to pull Amaya on his arms but he restrained himself.

"Silly girl, don’t you know what you’ve done? There might be people watching us and this will ruin your reputation." If it was someone else, Marx wouldn’t care, but it was Amaya.

"Why? I did not do anything." Amaya pouted and she went back to her lounge chair and search her parents’ stars.

"There they are." Amaya pointed at the twin stars in the North which she named Dana and Ibra.

"Daddy, Mommy, it is my birthday today. I am finally home and am I with our family."

Unbeknownst to Amaya, two pairs of eyes were watching them from two of the windows on the third floor. One was a pair of brown eyes while another was a pair of orbs like the color of the dark night.

Marx knew that they were being watched. He saw movements from the windows of the adjacent rooms. He had a rough guess of who those two people were.

"It is getting late Aya. Let us go to bed. Come down to the stables tomorrow. Let us check out the horse that the king gave you."

Marx stood first and offered his hand to Amaya. He helped her up and guided her back to the side entrance of the banquet hall.

"Lilia you can go ahead. It is already very late." Amaya dismissed her personal made. Lilia hesitated but followed the Princess’ wishes. Besides, it was almost midnight.

Marx accompanied Amaya back to her room. When she was about to open the door, Marx held her left hand and slipped a diamond ring on her slender finger. "This ring means that you are my girlfriend now. You should not like another man, okay?"

"What do you mean, Marx?"

Marx pulled Amaya to a secluded place behind a pillar. Amaya was trapped between the cold pillar and Marx’s strong chest.

Marx placed his hand under her chin and lifted it then he lowered his lips over hers. He wanted to be her first kiss.

Amaya’s eyes widened, but she closed her eyes instinctively when she smelt the fresh manly scent of the man pressing his lips on her. Marx placed his hand on the small of her back and pulled her closer.

He lifted his head and gazed into the pair of light brown eyes that held a complicated look in them. He used his thumb to trace the lips that he just kissed. Amaya’s lips quivered. She felt a sensation that she did not understand.

Marx claimed her lips again. This time, his kiss was demanding and passionate. He used his tongue to force Amaya to open her mouth and when she did, he pushed his tongue inside. He tasted something sweet and tangy.

Amaya gave out an involuntary moan. Marx placed his hand at the back of her head and deepened the kiss. He only let go when he felt that Amaya would pass out from lack of oxygen.

"That is what I mean, Aya. You are my woman now." Marx whispered in her ear hoarsely.

Amaya’s face was beet red. She did not know what to feel or how to react. She cannot deny the fact that she liked the kiss. It awakened a desire within her that was foreign to her.

’Why did Marx kiss me? Is that his way of marking me as his girlfriend?’
