Chapter 92: Are You A Couple?

She missed her father and her animal friends. Tears pooled in the corner of her eyes and threatened to fall. It made her eyes sparkle but she blinked them away.

"I would like to thank my family for making this day possible, my Grandparents, Daddy Ibarra, and Aunt Nelida." She looked at them with a gentle smile. Then she closed her eyes.

"Daddy, thank you for planning ahead and designing this beautiful tiara for me. Perhaps you have foreseen beforehand that I will have a grand celebration for my coming of age." She paused again. ’I missed you terribly.’

She turned to the man who had been standing by her side. "Marx, thank you for the dress and the necklace that I am wearing tonight and for the many gifts that you have generously given to me."

She faced the audience once again. "To all of you who came here tonight to celebrate with me and my family, my sincerest thank you. This is a totally new experience for me and this memory will be locked in my heart for as long as I live."

Amaya bowed to the audience and then she curtsied gracefully.

A thunderous applause once again filled the entire banquet hall. When the clapping subsided the emcee announced that the party has ended and the guests can stay for the wine or can go home.

Many of the guests left as it was almost midnight. The royalties who came from Lupanya and Albania were given accommodation in the palace as it was already very late to travel. They stayed for the wine.

Marx was pulled at the table of King Duncan and King Hebrio. They were discussing about business so Amaya went to look for Tamara but bumped into Samantha instead. Samantha was walking to where the members of the Lupanyan royalties were. She remembered that Samantha was the daughter of the king of Lupanya.

"Sorry." She apologized.

Samantha wanted to flare up. How dare she bumped into her? However, it was not her territory so she controlled herself and decided to let it go. She just glared at Amaya and hurried to where her brothers were.

"Hey, Amaya, come join us," Tamara called excitedly.

The birthday celebrant walked to their table. She looked around and noticed that Argo, Damien, and the young Princess Sudaya were missing.

"Where is your younger sister?"

"Oh, her nanny sent her to bed. She is still underage and can’t take alcohol." Tamara took two wine glasses from the passing waiter and gave one to Amaya.

"Cheers to the birthday girl." She clinked her glass with Amaya and downed the entire glass. Amaya can only gulp a mouthful.

A big hand took the wine glass from her. He pulled the vacant chair beside her and sat down like he owned the place.

"Can you hold your alcohol?" Raquim asked her.

Amaya looked at him blankly. She did not understand what he meant.

"If you are not used to drinking alcohol, then better not drink, Princess." He explained in a stern voice.

"Daddy and I used to drink wine but it is occasionally and he allowed me to drink just a glass."

The crown prince stole a glance at the blue pendant nestled in her chest. From his vantage point, he could clearly see her cleavage where the opal stone was perfectly positioned. He felt a strange sensation run through his vein. He looked away but then he looked again when he remembered that the dress and necklace were a gift from Marx.

Before he could ask what was on his mind, Tamara beat him and asked the question.

"Amaya, you and that Marx Skylar is pretty close. Are you a couple?"

The debutante gave Tamara the same blank look that she gave Raquim earlier.

"Why are you giving me that kind of look?" Tamara asked her.

"What do you mean by a couple? I don’t understand. Marx and I are friends. I saved him and he saved me. He did a lot to help me." Amaya explained.

"Are you just friends? Don’t you like him? I think he dotes on you."

"I like him. We are friends remember? He is my first human friend."

Both Tamara and Raquim looked at Amaya with strange expressions on their faces. But then, they remembered that Amaya grew up alone in the forest.

"Uhm, do you feel something for him? Like is he your crush?"

Amaya was getting more perplexed by Tamara’s words. Tamara laughed when she saw the naive look on Amaya’s face.

"Brother, help me out here." She raised both of her palms in the air and glanced at her eldest brother helplessly.

Raquim only glared at her.

"Okay, If Marx is just your friend, then can you introduce him to me? He is my crush. I am willing to spend a night with him and I can die afterward..."

"Tamara!" Raquim’s cold voice stopped Tamara’s blabbering momentarily.

"What, Brother? I am just saying the truth. If Amaya is not into Marx, and they are close, then I can ask Amaya to help me get closer to Marx. Look at him, Brother! He is so good-looking. He looks like a god that descended from Mount Olympus. Look at his body. It is comparable to yours, though to me he is more handsome"

"Tamara, shut your mouth if you don’t want to pack your things and go to Siquil Island." Raquim’s voice has become even colder than Tamara felt the ends of her hair standing. She knew that it was time for her to stop.

"She is talking nonsense, Amaya. Forget about what she said." Raquim said in a serious tone. He ordered a bottle of wine from the waiter and asked for three clean wine glasses.

Prince Gamaru who was trapped in a conversation with the heads of the two other kingdoms was distracted. He wanted to leave and spend his time with Princess Amaya but he cannot offend the two kings. ’Damn, my father. Why did he get sick? Raquim is a very difficult love rival and his situation right now is not helping.’
