Chapter 78: Marx is Back

On Saturday morning which was a day before her eighteenth birthday, Amaya brought her grandmother out for the morning sun. Her grandma did not use the wheelchair but she leaned on Amaya as she led her to the back of the palace where the green grass carpeted the huge palace training grounds. A portable reclining chair was placed on the ground for the queen to sit on when she was tired.

A few royal guards were standing not far away while two caretakers were standing close to the queen.

"Grandma, when was the last time you went out of your room to have fun in the sun?"

Her grandmother has become better in the last few days she stopped giving her the medicine.

"It has been a long time, that I can’t remember." Quenn Lucinda looked around her and sniffed the air. She missed the smell of flowers and the freshly mown grass.

Soon the young prince Yohan was seen running with his short thin legs toward Amaya and the queen.

Amaya stretched out her arms and the young boy pounced on Amaya. The princess giggled and she lifted the little boy by his armpits and twirled him around.

Yohan was filled with laughter. Amaya stopped when she felt dizzy. She staggered and almost fell but a pair of strong hands held her by the waist.

Amaya looked back and a pair of gorgeous blue eyes met hers.

"Marx, you are back!" She gently put Yohan on the ground and gave him a quick hug to Marx.

Marx tensed when he felt a soft body against him. He hugged her back and smelt her hair. She was wearing sweatpants and a tight-fitting tank top and his hands rested on her narrow waist. When he wanted to pat her hair, Marx suddenly felt that his chest was empty. Amaya took two steps back and scanned Marx from head to toe.

"What?"

"I missed you."

Marx felt the blood rush towards his face. He blushed. He silently cursed. ’What is happening to me?’

"When did you arrive?"

"Two hours ago." Marx went in front of the queen and bowed slightly. "You look better, Your Majesty." He respectfully said.

"I do, young man. Thanks to my granddaughter. Her medicine is a panacea." Will go inside first. You can stay here and talk to her."

The caretaker helped the queen into the wheelchair but the queen refused.

On the third floor, three pairs of eyes from different windows were watching the scene in the training ground.

King Duncan has not visited the queen in a long time. He was surprised to see her outside of the palace. Even from a distance, he could see that she has gotten better. A look of longing passed across his amber eyes, then it turned into a gentle gaze. His granddaughter has indeed cured his wife’s illness.

He called for his servants to help him dress. He was excited to go to the dining hall this morning.

Crown Prince Ibarra has just woken up and opened the door to the balcony to let the morning sun in. His room was facing east and was overlooking the training grounds.

When he stepped out of the balcony, a heartwarming scene greeted his eyes. He saw his mother leaning on a reclining chair with a contented look on her face. He hasn’t seen his mother outside of her room for a very long time. Then he saw his youngest son running toward Amaya, her hands outstretched to receive him. She spun him around a few times. Yohan’s laughter reached his ears and he smiled. His youngest son became more lively since Amaya arrived. He also started to look better as his appetite greatly increased.

However, the smile on his face disappeared the moment he saw Marx walk in big strides toward Amaya. He frowned when Marx held Amaya on her waist to steady her when she staggered. His frown deepened when he saw Amaya hug Marx and he hugged her back.

’That girl really did not have awareness at all.’ He pursed his lips. He closed the balcony door then he went to the bathroom to freshen up.

Princess Nelida’s room was beside Ibarra. She was watching the same scene as Ibarra but she did not step out of the balcony. It did not sit well with her that Amaya was getting closer to her mother-in-law and the queen is getting better and better. Will her power in the palace lessen the moment the queen gets better?

’Damn that wild girl. She is disrupting the peace in the palace and she is threatening not only Danella but also my position.’ Nelida thought. She pursed her lips and her expression turned vicious.

At the training grounds, Amaya noticed Dave standing some distance and watching them interestingly.

"Have you had your breakfast?"

Marx shook his head. He doesn’t like the food served on the airplane so he skipped the meal.

"Let’s go inside and have breakfast." Amaya held Marx’s hand and pulled him toward the palace’s east entrance. Marx looked at Amaya’s hand that was on his wrist. A smile appeared on his face but disappeared quickly.

"Hi Dave, how are you?" Amaya greeted Dave cheerfully. At the same time, she let go of Marx’s wrist.

Marx cast a sideways ice stare at Dave who started walking alongside him.

"I am doing well Amaya. You haven’t gotten back to me on when you want to do the documentary." Dave sounded aggrieved.

"How about let’s do that when the island is settled?"

"Good idea."

They reached one of the tea rooms where a smaller number of guests were entertained.

After some time, the king and the crown prince joined them. Amaya was surprised.

"Good morning Grandpa, good morning Dad." Amaya greeted them with a cheerful smile. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

The king patted her head gently. She was like a breath of fresh air that brightened the room.

"Grandpa, Dad, Marx did not have his breakfast yet. Can I stay here and have breakfast with him?" She looked expectantly at her two elders.

"Isn’t your grandma joining us for breakfast? Why don’t you ask Marx and Dave to join us instead?"
