Raised From The Wild-Chapter 77: Preparation For the Party
"Principal, stay still! There is a spider on your back." one of the security team who was standing near the principal anxiously shouted.
Principal Lazada stood frozen on the spot. Beads of perspiration were dripping from his forehead down to his face and disappeared into his impeccably ironed long sleeve white polo.
"Swat it away! Swat it away!" he said hoarsely.
The security team were pondering how to remove the spider without hurting the principal. Someone took a rolled paper and was about to swat the spider when Amaya stopped his hand.
"You will agitate the spider and you don’t know where it will land next."
Amaya took an empty glass bottle from the open shelf at back of the lab. She calmly approached the principal. She moved so fast that no one knew how the spider from the back of Principal Lazada get transferred to the bottle in her hand.
The five men’s security team looked at one another and then they looked at Princess Amaya. Their faces were red from embarrassment. They were beaten by a high school student in saving the principal.
Stephane’s eyes narrowed as he sized up Amaya. ’This girl is becoming more interesting.’
"The spiders looked creepy but they are not actually poisonous," Ardaya explained.
Amaya studied the spider inside the bottle. "The others are not poisonous but this one is. It was a good thing that Principal Lazada did not make any movement, otherwise, the spider could have been agitated and bitten him. Its venom is quite potent and can paralyze its victim within a few minutes ..."
THUD!
Principal Lazada fainted and fell with his face down. It was good that the floor was carpeted so he did not sustain any injury.
’This young woman. Why did she has to explain it in such a way.’ Stephane threw a curious gaze at Amaya before paying attention to the principal who was being taken out of the laboratory to be brought to the clinic.
"Aren’t you scared of spiders Amaya? I am scared of them. I got goose bumps whenever I encounter them." Julienne indeed sounded scared.
"I used to fear them when I was little. But then I get to see them often that they no longer became scary. My father told me that to overcome my fear, I need to face them." Amaya passed the bottle to Julienne.
Julienne reluctantly accepted the bottle and studied the spider that was trapped inside. No matter how she looked at it, she cannot imagine why some people have spiders as their pet. Their hairy body looked really ugly.
"How do you know that it is poisonous?" Stephane has come nearer and was standing in between Amaya and Julienne. He took the bottle from the blonde teenager and watched as the spider restlessly crawled inside trying to find an escape route.
"I was bitten by this kind of spider when I was nine." Amaya answered softly. Then she was lost in her thoughts as if recalling a certain event in her life. "I was picking a wild flower. I did not see the spider because it was under the leaf of the flower. It bit me."
Julienne’s eyes widened. She got goose bumps from simply listening to Amaya’s story.
"What happened next?" Stephane asked. No matter how calm he appeared, it still baffled him how a young girl was able to survive in a forest. The night before, he has read all available stories about the lost princess of Lireya. He had watched the videos that Marx Skylar released on how they were rescued from the erupting volcano. He became more interested about the young princess.
"I always carry with me an antidote for poison from spiders, snakes and other insects. My father taught me how to make an antidote from certain herbs. I was bitten a few times by a spider and a snake. My father too almost died from a scorpion bite but was saved by the antidote."
"An antidote!" A glint passed across Stephane’s eyes. He made a resolve at that time to get closer to the young princess.
Ardaya was tasked to catch all the spiders that escaped from her wooden box. She was scared out of her wits that she begged Amaya to help her catch them. Though the spiders belonged to her, she was also scared of them. She only brought them to school to frame Amaya and how she regretted it. She was suspended for a week because of her misconduct.
’What a useless girl. She even confessed that the spiders are hers. Good that you are suspended. I don’t need an idiot by my side.’ Samantha thought that Ardaya was an idiot and a liability so she did not step out to help her.
Classes for Senior High School were suspended because of what happened in the laboratory. It was right timing because Amaya needed to go home early to fit the gown that she will wear for her eighteenth birthday.
The seamstress and the designer along with the makeup artists were already waiting in the drawing room when she arrived at the palace. The designer’s assistant helped Amaya with the gown. It was a ball gown of blush pink with an off-shoulder and has appliqués of flowers that climb from the hem to below the knee. The bodice were decorated with crystals that reflected the light making the wearer looked dazzling.
The seamstress noted the adjustments while the designer asked Amaya to don a twelve centimeters stiletto. Amaya was a tall woman at 173 centimeters. When she was wearing the high heels she towered over the rest of the people in the room.
They followed Amaya to the large banquet hall and asked her to walk around to get used to the high heels. Clarissa was also there to assist and teach her.
"Clarissa, I am not comfortable wearing this kind of shoes. A five centimeters should be alright." She complained.
"But princess you will look great in these heels." Clarissa reasoned. She was thinking of letting Amaya practice more to get used to the high heels. "Just practice more and you will be accustomed to it."
"The base is too small. No matter how I practice, I am afraid that I will trip and just embarrass myself."
"Oh, you haven’t tried it yet, Princess. Try it first. Wear it every day and eventually, it will feel just like a part of your legs." The designer coaxed her.
Amaya felt that her legs were hurting from walking back and forth. She felt miserable. ’Wasnt it her birthday and she should be happy? Why would she allow herself to suffer by wearing such kind of shoes?’
"Please prepare a more comfortable shoes for me, Clarissa. I will definitely not survive my birthday party if I wear such a pair of shoes." Amaya’s tone was decisive. If Marx was here then she shouldn’t have to argue with anyone. Marx would always see to it that she was comfortable.
Amaya was resting on a chair when Princess Consort Nelida came in. She frowned.
"Are you done with your practice, Amaya?" She asked in a stern voice.
"Not yet Aunt Nelida. I am resting for a while. The shoes are too high and my legs are hurting."
"Practice some more. You can do that every day until you learn to carry yourself with elegance and confidence."
"Yes, Aunt Nelida." Amaya stood.
Nelida gasped when she saw Amaya in the ball gown. Her eyes narrowed. She did not want to admit that Amaya was very pretty. In fact, she was prettier than Danella and even prettier than Danaya.
"Don’t put too much makeup on her." She reminded the makeup artists as she did not want Amaya to really stand out during the banquet.
"But your Highness, we did not put heavy makeup on her. The Princess naturally has good and smooth skin. We only put a little bit of blush and she looked like that." The makeup artist looked at Amaya with adoration. A lot of the famous people she worked with were beautiful but none of them can compare to her beauty.
Nelida glared at the makeup artist who said those words, then her face turned into a smile to mask the envy in her eyes. "Of course, she is the daughter of my sister who was known to be the most beautiful lass in the whole of Lireya." She appeared to be praising the young princess but deep inside her heart was filled with malice. How dare she come back and disrupt their peaceful lives?
"Aunt Nelida, I don’t like to wear this shoes. It is hidden anyway so it doesn’t matter how my shoes looked like. It is also too high and makes me even taller." Amaya looked down at the Princess Consort who appeared even shorter than her.
Nelida thought for a moment. She disliked looking up at her. She was now a head taller because of the shoes she was wearing.
"Change the shoes." She agreed readily.
"Thank you, Aunt Nelida." Amaya said happily.
’Hmmp. I only agreed because you will be more noticeable if you are very tall. Only my Danella should shine brightly even if it is your birthday.’
