Chapter 64: Uncouth Princess

Jace remained calm. As a professional and one of the most sought-after psychiatrists, he knew how to handle such situations. What Marx was seeing now excited him. In an induced state, he might suffer a heart attack so Jace, with his voice, guided Marx to wake up from his sleep.

"Why do I feel like I am exhausted? Shouldn’t I feel relaxed?" Marx asked while frowning. When he looked at his grandfather, he was surprised to see that his eyes were red. His father also had a somber expression on his face. Only the Psychiatrist looked relaxed and was wearing a gentle smile.

"That’s a normal reaction, Marx. You should rest early tonight." Jace looked at Marx with interest. "I am really curious about what you saw in the waterfalls that made your heart beat erratically. If I was not afraid that you will go into cardiac arrest, I should have continued. So what did you see?"

The corner of Marx’s lips curved lightly. "I saw my angel."

...

Marx went straight to his penthouse after he came back from NexGen. He took a shower after dinner, changed into his pajama, and called Amaya at 7:30 pm.

At Lireya, Amaya woke up at 6:00 am. She changed into her sportswear and had her morning run around Asteria grounds.

When she came back and went to the dining room, her family was already having breakfast.

The king was seated at the head of the table. Opposite him was an empty chair. To his right were the crown prince and the princess consort was sitting beside him.

She greeted everyone in a cheerful tone before taking her seat beside the king and Donello. It was the place reserved for the first grandchild of the king.

"Didn’t your governess tell you that on weekdays, breakfast starts at 7:00 am and you should be here before the king enters?" Crown Prince Ibarra reprimanded Amaya in a stern voice the moment she sat down.

Princess Nelida looked at Amaya briefly. She felt happy at her being scolded in front of her two children.

"I am sorry Dad. I lost track of time?" She said meekly. She wondered how come two people who looked very similar can be completely different. Ibarra was very strict while her Daddy Ibrahim always spoke to him gently.

Ibarra looked at her barren wrist and frowned. "Don’t you have a wristwatch? He looked at Lilia who was standing at the side. "Didn’t you remind the princess to wear her watch?"

"I did Your Highness," Lilia replied respectfully while keeping her head bowed.

"Dad, I did not wear it because I went running and I felt uncomfortable."

"That’s enough. Let’s finish our breakfast in peace." The king spoke and silence ensued in the dining room. Only the occasional clanging of the cutlery hitting ceramic could be heard. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Amaya who started late finished first as she ate very fast. She arranged her cutlery and put them at 5 o’clock as her father and Clarissa taught her. She asked for fruit juice as she did not like to drink milk.

"Milk is good for you. You should drink it." Consort Nelida said gently.

"My stomach gets uncomfortable every time I drink milk.".

"What kind did you previously drink? This milk is processed and sterilized so it should taste better."

"My father said that nothing tastes better than pure and natural milk. Back in Miraga, we got milk from the goats on the island. When I was young, I like the taste but as I grew up, I did not like it anymore." Amaya explained as she sipped her juice leisurely. She was getting impatient. She did not understand why it took a long time for the others to finish.

Nelida wanted to say something but in the end, she clamped her mouth and let her be.

"Daddy Ibrahim taught me table etiquette when I was four. We used a spoon and fork every day and we would use a special cutlery set during my birthdays." Amaya was not used to the silence during eating so she started talking.

"I saw the spoon and fork in the video. But those are made of wood." Donello who normally did not speak while eating blurted out.

"We have two sets of special cutlery which daddy made from gold and titanium. We used that during my birthdays and his birthdays." She turned to her grandfather and added. "Grandpa, once the rest of my things are shipped from Usturia, I will gift that set to you and Grandma."

Before the king can say anything Danella interjected rudely. "How do you know that it is titanium when you just grew up in the jungle?"

"Ella, mind your manners. Is that how you talk to your older sister?" King Duncan’s deep voice boomed.

Danella shrank back and looked at her mother asking for help. She did not expect her grandfather to be angry with her.

"Apologize to your sister." Nelida hinted at Danella with her eyes.

"I am sorry Grandpa, Amaya."

"It is alright Ella. To answer your question earlier, it was Daddy Ibrahim who told me that it was titanium. Dad was a genius. He knew a lot of things and he taught me everything he knew that was on the island. I know a lot of metals and not just gold and titanium. Amaya’s eyes sparkled at the fond memories and it did not escape the king’s and the crown prince’s keen eyes.

Ibarra sighed. He wondered if his twins will show the same adoration to him as Amaya did to his father. But then he was busy with his duties as the crown prince and he was not able to spend time with his children even if he liked to. It was a good thing that his father was very strict about eating together during breakfast and supper.

Amaya looked at the grandfather’s clock on the wall. The observant king noted her action.

"You children go ahead and prepare for school. I still have to discuss something with your parents while finishing our coffee."

"Thank you, Grandpa." Before anybody can react, Amaya has already left the table like a gust of wind.

The servants who were waiting on the royal family gasped.

Everyone left on the table turned their eyes toward the king.
