Chapter 58: I Am His Fiancée

"I am his fiancée." A sweet voice was heard over the phone.

Amaya did not understand what a fiancée was. Her Daddy never mentioned such a word. Was that her name? She took note of checking it out later.

"Fiancée, can you give the phone to Marx?"

Silence...

"Hello, Fiancée are you still there?"

"Are you stupid or are you testing my patience?" The sweet voice earlier became shrill and loud and Amaya has to move the cell phone away from her ears.

"I am not stupid. I just want to talk to Marx. Can you pass the phone to him?"

"And who are you to command me?" The voice sounded irritated and hostile.

"Me?" Amaya asked innocently. "My name is Amaya, Princess of Lireya."

"Stupid!" Then the line was cut.

’What’s wrong with her?’ Amaya glanced at the black screen of her phone with a frown.

Amaya called the second number that Marx gave her. It was his business phone. After a few rings the call was picked up.

"Hello." It was the deep voice that Amaya missed.

"Marx, it is you." Amaya’s voice was full of excitement.

On the other side of the globe, Marx frowned. He was actually in an early morning meeting but when he saw the caller ID, he answered the phone, his lips stretched sideways in a small smile.

The directors who were attending the meeting were dumbfounded. Did their boss just answer a phone call in the middle of a meeting? Just how important was that call?

Marx excused himself and went inside a smaller meeting room adjacent to the board room.

"I called your other number. A woman answered. She said she is your fiancée. But I think I angered her." Amaya’s voice sounded so sweet and pleasant.

Marx’s face turned gloomy. ’Is she not sad that I have a fiancée?’

Amaya requested a video call and Marx happily accepted. Amaya was lying down on a mattress with her hair spread around her head. The lighting was not good and Marx could see the grass surrounding her. She must be stargazing in the garden.

"How is your trip?" She asked him while smiling.

"I slept all the way," Marx replied. Looking at the smiling young woman, he realized that he had missed her.

"I think I angered Fiancée."

"What did you say? How did you anger her." Marx thought that he heard wrongly.

"Well, I told her to give the phone to you. I said ’Fiancée, can you give the phone to Marx?’ When she heard that, she shouted on the phone, told me that I am stupid, and hung up."

Marx laughed heartily. What a naive woman.

"How was your day?" He changed the topic.

"Oh, that. I took three admission exams and got full marks. I will go to school tomorrow. I am in Grade 12."

"Congratulations. I believe in your capability. Well done."

There was a soft knock on the door and a young charming face peeped in. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

"Mr. President, the directors are waiting for you for fifteen minutes." The secretary reminded Marx. She was surprised to see the gentle look on his boss’ face while talking on his cell phone. Who could he be talking to? She remembered that Ms. Fiona was in the lounge at his office. He couldn’t be talking to her right?

Amaya heard a pleasant voice.

"Oh, you have a meeting? Sorry to disturb you." Amaya apologized.

Marx put his phone on mute. He gestured to his secretary that he will follow. His secretary nodded and closed the door gently. The voice she heard on the phone was definitely not Fiona. Who was that woman? How can she make his boss wear that silly look on his face?

"Go to sleep. I’ll call you tomorrow. Good night, Aya." Marx hurriedly said.

Amaya hummed then she hang up. Marx made a mental note to talk to Fiona. She must be at his office. How dare she answer his private phone?

Marx went back to the boardroom in a good mood. His meeting ended smoothly and he hurried back to his office. The moment he entered his office, a voluptuous woman in her twenties pounced into Marx. The man in a dark suit stepped back too late. Fiona was already in his arms. She wanted to kiss Marx but he pushed her away.

Fiona staggered backward and almost fell on her butt. It was a good thing that she held onto the armrest of the couch.

"Why did you push me?" Fiona sounded aggrieved.

Marx looks at her with a cold gaze. "You know very well that I don’t like being touched." He said as he passed by her and went directly to his chair. He picked up the phone that he left in his drawer.

"You touched my phone?" Marx glared at her coldly. "You even deleted the call log? Do you think I am stupid that I will not learn about it?"

Fiona turned pale. Marx was always harsh at her but now, he looked really scary.

"It kept on ringing. It was so annoying so I answered it for you, but the caller was even an annoying stupid girl. But what should I expect of a woman who grew from the wild?"

Marx narrowed his eyes. He glared at Fiona. "Watch your word woman."

"Ha! And you are standing up for that wild woman that you picked up from the jungle."

"Stop it, Fiona Chase! Get out of my office right now. You are disturbing my peace and I have a lot of things to do."

"It is because you left you for a few days that is why your work piled up. Why do you have to send her back to Lireya personally when a lot of people can do that for you? I am your fiancée and you did not even bother to call me and check if I am doing well in Uropa." Fiona sounded aggrieved.

"How about you? Were you worried that my plane disappeared?" Marx’s voice was a notch colder, sending chills through Fiona’s bones.

She shivered unconsciously. "I only learned about it two days ago when I came out of the reality show in which I participated. Nobody told me about your plane’s accident."

Fiona walked towards Marx in big strides. She went behind Marx who was sitting on his chair and put her arms around his neck. The chair was an uncomfortable barrier between them.

"I was so happy that you are safe and alive." Fiona started sobbing. Marx felt irritated. Fiona’s perfume was too strong and it was causing him headaches.

"Let go!" He barked at her.
