Raised From The Wild-Chapter 352: She is in Danger
In the next two days, Amaya and Donello participated in the archery mixed events. The result was predictable. As both of them were gold medalists individually, they also garnered the gold medal in the mixed event.
The defending champions for the mixed events were from Usturia. They could only curse and accept their faith. In the end, they settled for the silver medal.
After the medal ceremony, Princess Amaya and Donello were making their way out of the arena when they were stopped by two burly athletes who had just received the silver medals. These athletes were significantly larger than Donello, who himself was much taller than Amaya. As a result, when they blocked their path, Amaya was completely obscured from view behind them.
"What do you want?" Donello asked warily while he stood in between the two men and his sister Amaya.
"Would you be interested in joining us for dinner? We were hoping to seek your advice on how the Princess can consistently hit the bulls-eye," one of the two athletes inquired, gazing at them expectantly.
"Sorry, but we already have a dinner appointment." Princess Amaya replied before Donello could speak.
"I see. Then perhaps you can share your secret with us." The man was persistent.
Princess Amaya thought for a moment. The two men seemed honest and played professionally, so Princess Amaya spoke with them.
"Just keep on practicing. I started as a toddler, and when I was old enough to hunt, I practiced shooting a fixed target while riding on my tiger."
The two men, around Princess Amaya’s age, nodded their heads, but they were filled with doubt. Could they substitute a horse for a tiger? They could, right?
On the eighth day of the Battle of the Titans, everyone was surprised to learn that the Princess of Lireya was participating in track and field. Even the online community was taken aback by the participation of a noble princess in such a physically demanding competition.
Shortly before the event began, a curious reporter asked Princess Amaya, "What motivated you to compete in the 400 and 800-meter dash instead of fencing?" The reporter’s expression indicated he was greatly satisfied with asking the question.
Princess Amaya stopped walking and looked at the reporter.
"What’s wrong with me joining in the track and field?" She asked innocently.
"Well, some individuals believe that certain sports do not necessitate any skill or grace and can be performed by just about anyone. They consider these sports to be for those lacking talent or intelligence."
People nearby nodded their heads in agreement. Amaya even heard them commenting the same thing.
"It does not look fitting for a princess to run the 400-meter dash. Why did she not join gymnastics instead?" a woman in a white shirt and white cap said.
"Are you serious? How could she participate in gymnastics? She grew up in the jungle and was already around eighteen when she was brought back. Her bones were already set and not flexible," her friend commented.
Princess Amaya looked at the reporter incredulously.
"How could you say such irresponsible words? You do not deserve to be a journalist." Amaya’s voice was loud. It was obvious that she was angered by the reporter’s question.
"I am just stating the fact, Princess. Why are you angry?"
Princess Amaya surveyed the reporter with a discerning eye, taking in every detail from head to toe before finally fixing her gaze on the identification badge on his right chest.
"Mr. Dustin Holtz, are you aware that track and field has ancient origins, dating back to the first Olympic several millennia ago? Why do you seek to diminish its significance?" Princess Amaya gazed at the reporter with a cold stare. Her eyes, a deep shade of amber, betrayed the intense emotions surging within her.
The journalist couldn’t bring himself to look directly at her. He averted his gaze, staring down at the worn tips of his shoes, his cheeks burning with embarrassment. Despite his usually resilient nature, he was perplexed by how Princess Amaya seemed to see right through him with eyes ablaze like flickering flames. It was as if she could penetrate his very soul, exposing his vulnerabilities and leaving him feeling utterly exposed and ashamed.
The netizens watching the livestream who had previously commented and agreed with the reporter that it was unbecoming for a princess to join such an event felt ashamed after hearing Princess Amaya’s comment. They deleted their negative comments and started berating the reporter.
RandomGuy: ’What an irresponsible journalist to make such a comment.’
Passerby: ’How could he look down on track and field given its history?’
At the basement of Maharlika Palace...
"Brother, look at these people. Earlier, they were so bold in criticizing the Princess for joining such a lowly event, but now they are ingratiating themselves with their flattery." A young girl with big black eyes and curly hair that reached to her shoulder glanced briefly at the boy sitting beside her who was busy typing on the keyboard.
"Sis, that is human nature. I have always told you that humans are fickle-minded, especially netizens. They are just like the reed along the riverbank. Wherever the wind blows, they follow that direction."
"Then, Bro, did you not regret that we are not humans?" Ava paused her typing on the keyboard and looked at her brother’s side profile.
The boy did not stop typing. "Sis, we are half-human, so somehow, we might have inherited half of their fickleness. I did regret it."
Ava’s hands, about to land on the keyboard in front of her, paused mid-air. She breathed deeply before continuing with what she was typing.
"Sis, how much money did we earn from the betting site?" Ren asked curiously.
"Why not check directly? You have access to the site."
"I am busy. I am pretty sure you knew those amounts by heart," Ren spoke, tilting his head toward his sister.
"Our total winnings are more than fifty million," Ava said, her voice full of pride. They won a lot because only a few bet on Princess Amaya.
"How much bet did you place on the track and field?" 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"I placed a bet of 1 million on both events. That is the maximum allowed by the platform.
"Why did you set the limit too low? Is that the limit set by the government?" Ren asked.
Ava nodded her agreement.
Ren suddenly paused typing and moved his head closer to the monitor to read a message.
"Sis, the princess is in danger!"
