Chapter 346: The Jealous Twin

"Danella, are you serious? Your brother just won the gold medal. Princess Amaya is undoubtedly thrilled for him. Everyone, from the street sweeper to ministers and those who witnessed the event firsthand, is jubilant for the young prince." Prince Ibarra’s tone conveyed his disapproval.

Danella’s lips pressed together in a tight line as she stormed out of the room. On any other day, King Duncan and Queen Lucinda would have surely scolded her for her rudeness. However, with Donello’s recent victory, the royal couple was so elated that they didn’t give Danella’s outburst a second thought.

In the grand entertainment hall, an enormous screen commanded attention, stretching across the entire side wall. The event in Uropa was still being broadcast live. The crown prince stood before it, his face illuminated by a wide, exuberant grin. Surrounding him, court officials offered heartfelt congratulations to the prince and remarked, "Like father, like son."

Ibarra’s expression darkened. Although he was overjoyed by his son’s gold medal win, he couldn’t shake off his distaste for the comparison. Why do they have to ruin the good mood by bringing up the past he wanted to forget?

He surveyed the room, and his eyes fell upon his Princess Consort, standing beside his mother and sharing laughter. Driven by an overwhelming surge of emotion, he made an unprecedented move and strode towards her, enveloping his wife in a heartfelt embrace.

"Nelida, our son won!" he said happily.

Princess Nelida was too stunned to react. For the first time in their married life, Ibarra initiated an intimate act with her.

Nelida regained her composure and returned the embrace, feeling a rush of emotions similar to a schoolgirl being noticed by her crush. A blush spread across Nelida’s cheeks as she couldn’t help but giggle.

"Yes, My Prince. Our son is awesome. He is following in your footsteps. He did not disappoint and brought home the medal like you did." Nelida was full of joy as she praised her husband alongside his son.

Prince Ibarra’s face twisted into a frown as he released Nelida and pivoted to observe the victorious athletes being summoned to claim their medals.

Princess Nelida was completely taken aback. She couldn’t understand how she had managed to upset him. One moment he was incredibly affectionate, and the next, he turned distant and aloof.

She was confused. She thought that Ibarra, because of their son finally had learned to love her but why did acted that way?

Princess Nelida’s disarrayed thoughts were interrupted when the lively National Anthem of Lireya was played. Everyone’s eyes were glued on the screen a feeling of pride and patriotism descended upon the entire room.

After they watched the awarding ceremony, the king and the crown prince invited everyone to a banquet. Princess Consort Nelida took this opportunity to check on her daughter.

She gently knocked on her door.

"Go away, I don’t want to talk to you," Danella shouted from inside her room.

"Sweetheart, this is your mother. Do let me in. Whatever your problem is, let’s talk it out." Nelida said gently.

"Talk it out? How can we talk about it when you are also the cause of my problems? Go away. All of you are bewitched by that ’woman.’ Everyone sees only her!" Danella lashed out angrily.

"Just open the door and let us discuss your issues." Princess Nelida tried to speak gently.

The exquisitely crafted wooden door swung open, and the princess consort rushed through, anxious that any delay might prompt Danella to reconsider and shut the door.

The princess consort sat gracefully on the edge of the ornate canopy bed, her presence a comforting contrast to her daughter’s sullen mood.

"My dear, how many times have I told you that it’s important to learn to control and hide your emotions? You’re fortunate that everyone was in high spirits today because your brother won the archery championship. Otherwise, your grandfather would have scolded you for your behavior earlier." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

"Mother, I hate her. Ever since she arrived, it feels like everything revolves around her. Grandpa and Grandma don’t seem to love me as much anymore. Even Father pays more attention to her than me. What’s worse is that she has also taken away my twin brother’s affection," Danella sobbed.

"Am I not as good as her? Why is everybody favoring her?" She added in between sobs.

Nelida’s heart was heavy with concern for her daughter. Every word she spoke was the truth. Amaya, just like her mother, possessed an amiable nature and a charming personality that effortlessly captivated people’s hearts. Nelida could empathize with her daughter, as she vividly remembered feeling the same way about Danaya when she was Danella’s age.

Danaya was a beacon of warmth and joy. Wherever she went, it was as if she carried the sunshine with her, brightening the moods of those around her. She was like a breath of fresh air. Her presence always felt, even when she remained unobtrusive and unnoticed.

Nelida, on the other hand, was incredibly introverted. She often lingered in the background, overshadowed by her outgoing sister. No matter how hard she tried, she could never outshine her sister.

"Danella," she spoke gently, her voice filled with warmth as she grasped her daughter’s chin and lifted it, urging her to meet her eyes. "Always remember your identity. You are the cherished only daughter of the crown prince, while Amaya is simply your cousin."

Danella protested, "But Mother, she is the First Princess of Lireya, and her birth certificate clearly indicates that she is my father’s daughter." Danella grumbled.

"I’m hurt that you don’t trust your mother. Your cousin Amaya’s registration has been altered, and it seems easy to influence her. I suggested it would be a shame if her father, Ibrahim, were left with no heir while Ibarra had five children. I don’t know what she did to convince your grandparents, but they agreed, and she is now listed under Ibrahim’s branch." Nelida was half-smiling when she finished talking.

Danella had stopped wailing and stared at her mother with wide eyes.
