Raised From The Wild-Chapter 334: Battle Of The Titans: Archery Finals
The semi-finals and finals for the archery competition took place in an outdoor arena. Princess Amaya’s last arrow hit the target with precision and accuracy, leaving the arena in complete silence. Even the people watching the live stream were captivated, holding their breath in anticipation of the outcome.
The camera zoomed in on Amaya’s target and was projected on the large screen behind it. The huge LED screen showed three arrowheads firmly buried in the center of the target, the shaft forming a small perfect triangle.
The internet exploded as comments appeared on the livestream.
’Is it an illusion? She shot all arrows in succession?’
’No, it is not an illusion. Indeed, she shot it in succession!’
’Is she the Goddess Artemis who descended from Mount Olympus? Only the Goddess of Archery could have such accuracy.’
’Her scores appeared average during the elimination round. I think she was in the last twenty. She has hidden her true skill. Indeed, a dark horse.’
’Heh! What do you know, people? She was just lucky. Adelle also hit the bullseye. Why are you just raving about her? They both got a perfect score.’
’Hey, the previous poster, I understand that you are a fan of Adelle Black. But don’t be blind. Didn’t you see how fast and accurately Princess Amaya shot her arrows?’
People in the livestream were engaged in a heated argument with each other. Meanwhile, a seven-year-old boy broke the silence at the arena by clapping his hands. He was just a little boy, so the adults could not scold him for cheering Uropa’s opponent. Gradually, others in the audience followed suit and reluctantly applauded.
Adelle glared at Princess Amaya, who stood there so regal and composed. Adelle thought: ’This archer did not perform well during the semi-finals. How could she perfectly land all three arrows at the bullseye?’
Both archers scored a perfect thirty. Someone has to win the set, and the judges unanimously agreed that Lireya’s archer won the first set, considering her accuracy rate and the time it took her to shoot all the arrows.
Adelle approached the umpire and asked if they could do alternate shots on the next set. The umpire nodded, as it was within the guidelines of the ’Battle of the Titans.’
Since Princess Amaya won the first set, she was the first to shoot the arrow in the next set. An extreme fan of Adelle started cursing Princess Amaya and shouted that what happened earlier was just a stroke of luck. A few more people followed his example.
Charles Gray, who was watching in the observation room, was unhappy. He looked at the person assigned as the head of security of the Biennial. Soon, a few bulky men in navy blue uniform approached the unruly persons and escorted them out of the arena.
Princess Amaya nocked her arrow, took a deep breath, and released it without batting an eye. The camera zoomed in and followed the arrow until it was lodged in the middle of the smallest inner circle of the target. She scored a ten.
Adelle glared at Amayaa. She has never felt so pressured in her life. She started training in archery as soon as she could walk. Camilla was the only woman who could beat her, but it only happened if Camilla got lucky. She had won several archery championships since she was in her first year of high school. How could an unknown princess from a small and insignificant country have such skill?
Adelle took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She needed focus at the moment, and she couldn’t be distracted. She opened her eyes and released her arrow. The arrow landed in the middle of the innermost ring, but it was toward the black circle. She still scored a ten, but Adelle was disappointed.
At the palace nestled on top of the hill, the man in the black phoenix mask watched the live stream and frowned when he saw the result of Adelle’s first set. He dialed a number and gave out instructions.
Princess Amaya was ready to release her second arrow when she frowned. A small black object circled above the arena, and she felt something was amiss. She adjusted her breathing, and the hand that held the arrow shaft tensed.
She pictured the target as her most hated cobra who once bit her calf and almost took her life if not for her Daddy Ibrahim’s fast action. She applied more tension on the bowstring, and a small bird, or even a big one, should not be able to stop her arrow from crushing the head of that wretched cobra.
When Amaya released the arrow, the black sparrow descended from the sky and hovered its small body in front of the target.
"Oh No! A bird is blocking the target." Someone shouted from the bleacher.
"Twack!"
The audience collectively gasped as the arrow hit the target’s inner circle with a loud thud, pinning the bird on it. The force used to shoot the arrow was so great that the entire arrowhead was buried deeply in the target, even with the bird blocking it.
The bird did not bleed. It wasn’t a bird but a drone. It looked so natural that no one from the audience noticed that it wasn’t a bird, but Amaya did, and a few online people who were monitoring the live stream.
"Damn it! Someone tried to cheat during the competition. Unfortunately, the princess, Amaya, was so skilled that the distraction had no effect on her performance." Dave, who was closely watching the competition, cursed under his breath. He had placed a large bet on Amaya and was monitoring her progress carefully.
An online betting site was created where people could bet on their favorite athletes. Both Dave and Ren both bet a million dollars on Amaya.
After the incident at the arena, the officials needed some time to recover. Charles Gray then asked one of the officials to investigate what had happened. Since the person involved was Adelle, Charles did not want to show any partiality towards her, so he decided to let someone else handle the situation.
Damn! He did not expect his Godfather to play such a dirty trick on such a special event. The world was watching.
"Cane, release the news that it was an accident and a bird accidentally flew into the arena. Be sure to handle it well." Charles Gray said in an exasperated voice. His temple throbbed.
It took a few moments for the arena officials to recover. One of them approached the target and attempted to extract the arrow with his dominant right hand, but it wouldn’t budge.
