Raised From The Wild-Chapter 335: Battle Of The Titans: The Archery Finals 2
The official’s face turned red. He stood over six feet tall. His six-pack abs and defined arm muscles from strength training made him feel ashamed for not being able to pull just one arrow.
He wiped his sweaty palms on his pants before gripping the arrow shaft with both hands. He pulled the arrow with a lot of force, but he didn’t expect what would happen next. He pulled too hard and the target toppled over, falling with him. He landed on his back with the target on top of him.
The audience was dumbfounded. Even those watching online fired different emojis expressing what they felt. Most fired the emoji that was laughing and crying at the same time.
At the arena, a seven-year-old boy who had previously applauded Princess Amaya suddenly burst into laughter. The sound of his delightful and innocent laughter was so contagious that soon, all the children who were accompanying their parents to watch the gathering of the best among the best - which happens every two years - joined in with their own shrill laughter. The bleachers were filled with the joyful sound of children laughing.
"The parents of the child who started laughing were at a loss of what to do. While the children are innocent and honest beings who did not wear different masks, the adults were different. Surely they could not laugh at the misfortune of others, especially when the person involved was a respected teacher in the undisputed number one university in Uropa."
The laughter stopped as a nearby official rushed to assist the fallen man.
The archery competition was disrupted when the judges received the target with the arrow still pierced through the bird, leaving a splatter of blood on and around the bird.
Amaya frowned. She did not notice when the blood appeared. It must be when the second official helped the man who fell. Amaya guessed they were covering the incident and would attribute it to an accident. She pondered and decided just to let it go.
Soon, the score was updated, and she got a perfect score. Once again she hit the bullseye.
At the observation room in the palace on the hilltop, the man wearing the phoenix mask was seething with anger. He could not believe that his plan failed. How could such a slender-looking young woman would have the strength to shoot such an arrow?
"What was the speed of the last arrow that the princess shot?" he asked the young man beside him, who was wearing thick glasses.
"It is 300 feet per second, Mighty Zeus," he answered without showing any expression.
"That fast? How did she do that?"
"Her arms possessed great strength. It looked like she had been training since she was very young." The young man replied.
The man who was called Mighty Zeus turned to his trusted subordinate. "Call Charles and tell him to stall for time. Let us see if we can turn this around and ensure victory for Adelle."
Adelle and Amaya were given a fifteen-minute break while the sports officials were working on replacing the targets.
Donello handed Amaya a bottled water. Princess Amaya accepted it, but she put it inside her backpack. She drank from her tumbler. It was not because she did not trust Donello, but she wasn’t sure who handed the bottled water to him.
Over the past two years, she has been conditioned to be cautious and not to trust anyone. This change in her demeanor was a result of Marx’s disappearance. Her grandfather and Daddy Ibarra sent her to a training camp where she learned the art of psychological warfare, which caused her to lose her naivety and trusting nature.
While Princess Amaya was still waiting for her game to resume, she felt a vibration on her watch. Ren had sent her a cryptic message. Princess Amaya furrowed her brows in disbelief. She couldn’t believe Uropan University would resort to such despicable means just to win.
’Sister, I don’t think it’s the university. It’s probably a private person who wanted Adelle to win.’
Princess Amaya looked at her coach thoughtfully. She considered telling him, but then what could he do? She decided to address the matter by herself.
Meanwhile, netizens on the live stream discussed Princess Amaya’s feat of achieving a new world record for the speed of her arrow, which was at 300 feet per second.
’She looked delicate and frail. How could she have such great strength?’
’To me, she doesn’t look delicate at all. Look at her toned muscles. Didn’t she grow up in the jungle? She should have a lot of training.’
’Yeah, you are right. I saw the bows and arrows she used in hunting. They looked primitive, a far cry compared to the recurve bow arrows she is using.’
’I replayed the last arrow that Princess Amaya shot several times and in slow motion. It seemed like it had eyes and sought the target, and no matter what comes in between it and the target, it would still hit the target.’
’I am pretty sure that Princess Amaya will bag the gold medal for the Women’s Individual. She deserves it.’
’It is too early to say. Adelle is equally good except for the last arrow that hit the circle, but she still scored a ten on that.’
’When are they going to resume the competition? I am starting to get bored. I have already started digging up previous news and videos of Princess Amaya. If you want to know more about her, follow this link, and I will make a compilation.’
In the arena, the fifteen-minute break was finished. The officials replaced both targets.
It was Princess Amaya’s turn to shoot. She hesitated before turning to the umpire.
"Can we exchange places?" She asked while wearing a gentle smile on her face.
"Why would you want to exchange, places?" the umpire was confused.
"I think this is my comfort zone. If I stay here, then I would hit the bullseye again and I will win the second set. There wouldn’t be a challenge on that."
The umpire did not see any problem in the request. He approached Adelle and discussed Amaya’s request.
"No! I do not agree to change places."
