Raised From The Wild-Chapter 329: The White Horse
Princess Amaya looked at Charles Gray with confusion in her eyes. ’Why does this man talk to me like we are that familiar?’
Amaya gave him a small smile.
Prince Raquim approached Amaya with a confident stride, his casual attire of dark jeans and a lemon yellow polo shirt complementing his charming appearance. "Amaya, congratulations on passing the quarter-finals. You did an excellent job!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with genuine admiration for her achievement.
Charles Gray concealed his displeasure with a stern expression after the interruption.
"Thank you, Raquim. I saw Argo and Damien earlier. They also did well in the quarter-finals." Princess Amaya greeted him with a smile.
"They did alright. I hope they can reach the semi-finals." Prince Raquim regarded Princess Amaya’s attire. "You look great in your clothes." His praise was sincere. "Aren’t you going to the equestrian venue? I’ll accompany you. One of our equestrienne is in the same venue as you. It is in the Miller Black Ranch."
Before Princess Amaya could respond, Charles Gray interjected. "There is a transport arrangement for the athletes. The bus will depart in thirty minutes."
Princess Amaya checked her watch and glanced at Donello, who just finished packing his bow and arrows.
Charles Gray’s gaze lingered on Amaya’s wrist. The watch caught his attention.
"What a unique watch. Is that a new model? I haven’t seen anything like that." Charles asked and stepped close to Amaya to get a better view of the wristwatch.
"Ah, this is a gift from someone." Princess Amaya appeared melancholic, which the two men noticed.
"Hey, Princess, we should head to the bus to get a good seat," Prince Raquim said, noticing that Amaya looked sad. He had a feeling he knew who gave her the watch. He then turned to Charles Gray with a mocking look in his eyes. "This is my first time riding a bus, and I’m excited for the experience." Suddenly, he took Amaya’s hand and led her away, signaling for Prince Donello to follow quickly.
Charles Gray stood with furrowed eyebrows. ’Was he insinuating that I am not doing a good job hosting them?’
When Prince Raquim entered the bus, he was dumbfounded. The bus was very luxurious and could accommodate 20 passengers, excluding the driver. There were only two seats per row, and there was enough space between the seats. The chair could rotate 360 degrees, allowing the passengers to have a large view of the passing scenery.
When Amaya and Donello arrived at the ranch, half the contenders had already completed their qualifying round. Princess Amaya studied the score.
"Do remember that our goal in the qualifying round is just to pass. Do not show your full strength; otherwise, others will target you. Let us do our best during the finals," Amaya reminded her younger brother. She spoke softly so only Donello would hear her.
Donello’s attention was caught by a beautiful equestrienne riding a dark brown horse as the pair did a series of graceful steps, showing their prowess in the dressage arena.
"Sister, isn’t that the arrogant woman who shamelessly joined us for breakfast?" Donello asked without putting a filter on his words.
"Shhh. Didn’t I tell you to watch your words? We are in another country. Your sharp words can land us into trouble."
"I understand, Sis. But look at her. She is indeed very good with the horse." Donello said with eyes beaming with admiration as he watched Adelle and her horse move to the tune of the music.
"I heard that she trained since she was a toddler." Prince Raquim’s words simply showed that she should better be good if she started training from such a very young age.
Princess Amaya hummed to acknowledge Raquim’s words as she carefully watched Adelle.
When Adelle exited the dressage arena, the spectators shouted with glee. They were sure Adelle would be at the top of the leaderboard.
"It would be your turn soon. You should go. Good luck, Amaya. I know you can do it." Prince Raquim reminded her.
Princess Amaya left the bleacher and proceeded to the changing room. She removed her sneakers and replaced them with black riding boots. She wore her black riding jacket and put on the safety helmet, which the assistant passed to her. Then, she proceeded to the stables where the horses were kept.
She passed by Donello’s horse, Helio, and Apollo and Artemis were beside it. She would participate in dressage and horse jumping, so she brought her two horses.
"Hello, girl! Are you ready?" She patted Artemis and fed it with cubed sugar sprinkled with powered milagrosa leaves.
Artemis neighed, then she rubbed her head against Amaya’s hand.
"Good girl. Remember, later is not the time to show off, okay?"
Artemis neighed. Of course, she understood.
When Princess Amaya’s name was called, she mounted Artemis and led her into the dressage arena, which was not far too small for Artemis’s comfort.
The audience was awestruck when a white Mustang with a rider in black and white appeared in the arena. This was the first time they had seen a white horse participate in a dressage.
"Aren’t mustangs feral and difficult to subdue?" a spectator asked his girlfriend.
"Let us just wait and watch. I heard the rider is the Princess of Lireya."
While the white horse looked extraordinary because it was not the usual horse color seen in the arena, the performance was good. However, it paled compared to what Adelle had done previously, and the audience was quite disappointed.
It was almost 6:00 pm when all the athletes finished. Princess Amaya was not surprised to find herself at the bottom twenty when the leaderboard was announced.
"Aren’t you worried that something could happen to your performance and you will be eliminated in this round?" A deep voice spoke beside her, startling her.
"I don’t understand what you are saying, Chancellor." Prince Amaya feigned ignorance.
"Don’t do that again, Princess. It is very dangerous. What if a mishap happened, and you get deductions? You will definitely be eliminated."
