Raised From The Wild-Chapter 328: The Archery Competition
Amaya thought the dessert was sent by Charles Gray. But wasn’t he with Adelle?
The waiter could read what was on her mind.
"The Chancellor said that this is his apology for disturbing your meal, Princess," the waiter explained.
Amaya nodded. She took the golden slender spoon, scooped a dessert, and put it into her mouth. It was truly delicious.
The man who had left with Adelle found a way to get rid of her by heading to the university campus for an early meeting. He promised Adelle that he will watch her competition, and because of that, Adelle agreed to leave with her driver.
Charles Gray borrowed his driver’s cell phone. The driver was flabbergasted. His boss has the most advanced cell phone, but why would he borrow his?
Charles carefully navigated to the Hotel Amore website and entered his login credentials. Once logged in, he proceeded to access the surveillance system by following a series of authentication steps. With a few swipes and taps on his device, he was finally able to locate exactly what he was looking for.
He watched closely the princess as she relished her dessert with enthusiasm, savoring the last few spoonfuls, even consuming the velvet rose. A genuine smile graced his face, reaching his eyes. The driver, who accidentally caught a glimpse of the man’s smile in the rearview mirror, was so distracted that he almost collided with the car in front of him.
’What made my boss happy that he smiled like that? Does he like my cellphone?’ the driver pondered.
Charles fiddled on the cell phone for a few seconds before returning it to the driver. He was back to his usual cold face.
...
Princess Amaya arrived at the arena for the women’s individual archery quarterfinals. She wore a unique, tight-fitting, low-waist pair of white denims. The material was light and comfortable, designed to allow for unrestricted movement. The top was a simple white sleeveless shirt with a turtle neck, tucked into the denim. She had accentuated her narrow waist with a black leather belt and wore black sneakers. Her hair was parted in the middle and gathered at the back into a single braid.
Amaya was preparing her bow and arrows when a commotion occurred at the back. She saw Adelle enter the arena, followed by her entourage. Given the special treatment, the princess deduced that Adelle was a very important person. She would ask Ren to investigate her when she returned to the hotel at night.
Adelle was dressed in white shorts and a matching sleeveless shirt that hugged her figure tightly. She shot an icy glare at Amaya when she noticed that they were both wearing white. Despite Adelle’s outfit being form-fitting, Amaya’s figure looked better even though her top was not as tight. Amaya had a captivating quality that was not dependent on her attire. Her clothing was merely an accessory to her inherent charm. Her personality and presence were so magnetic that they overshadowed any outfit she wore, making her the highlight wherever she was.
People would take not only a second glance but a third glance at her. The official who brought her to the disciplinary office yesterday could only smile as he thought to himself. ’No matter what dress this young woman wears, she will always be a head turner.’
Only twenty-four people would remain after the quarter-finals, and Princess Amaya assessed her opponents; she did not want to show her true capability as it was only the quarter-finals. She manipulated her score so that it was only a little higher than her opponents, and she would still be the one to score six points first.
In the quarter-finals, Adelle had the highest score with a 90% bull’s eye rate, while Amaya had an 80% bull’s eye rate. However, Amaya’s main aim was not to showcase her skills but rather to successfully pass the quarter-finals.
Adelle was competing in her home country and her performance in the quarterfinals earned her a large fanbase. Princess Amaya also had a significant number of followers, particularly among young men, due to her striking appearance and impressive archery skills. Furthermore, the people of Uropa did not view her as a threat to Adelle, which contributed to her receiving additional support.
During the quarterfinals for the Women’s Individual, Charles Gray was present and actively participated in the crowd’s cheers. While it was clear that he was cheering for Adelle, he couldn’t help but sneak a glance at Princess Amaya. Every time the referee announced that Princess Amaya had won a round, a small smirk would appear on his face. As he observed the princess, he couldn’t help but admire her strategic and analytical approach to the game. He noticed how meticulously she assessed her opponents and calculated where her arrows would land, which was truly impressive. Charles Gray couldn’t help but think that Princess Amaya was a smart young lady who was sure to be a dark horse in archery.
"Charles, my darling! I won every round and achieved the highest accuracy rate," exclaimed Adelle, beaming with joy as she hurriedly walked towards where Charles was standing. Although she wanted to throw herself into his arms, she was conscious of the people around them and refrained from doing so.
Charles smiled, but it did not reach his eyes. "Congratulations on qualifying for the semifinals. Keep it up, Adelle."
"Thank you, Darling. I will win this." She said happily.
Charles just looked at her. He let her be as he did not want to break her happy bubble at this early stage.
"Aren’t you going to prepare for the qualifying round of the equestrian?" Charles asked.
"Oh, right. See you later, Darling." Adelle was still immersed in the happiness of being number 1, she did not have an inkling that Charles was pushing her away.
Charles hated it every time she called him Darling, but he could not stop her from doing so.
When Adelle and the rest of her entourage were gone, Charles Gray congratulated all the athletes who won in the quarterfinals. He finally reached Princess Amaya, who was watching Donello’s quarterfinals.
"Congratulations on winning the quarterfinals, Princess. Smart move on your side." Charles’s eyes brightened with admiration.
Princess Amaya raised her right eyebrow. She thought she had hidden her intention, but the man before her had seen it.
"Thank you, Chancellor. I don’t understand what you mean. I got lucky that I wasn’t paired with very good players. If I met your fiancee at the quarterfinals, I might have lost."
"Is that so?" Charles eyed Princess Amaya curiously. His question had a hint of teasing.
