Raised From The Wild-Chapter 327: Adelle
"What are you doing here, Adelle?" Charles was visibly displeased.
The young woman with lustrous blonde hair smiled sweetly at Charles before settling down elegantly beside him. Her every movement was poised and graceful. She caught the attention of the waiter with a subtle wave of her hand and proceeded to communicate her preferences with a refined air.
After the waiter left, she gazed at Charles with affection. "Are you not happy to see me?" she asked, moving closer to him as if to kiss his cheeks. However, Charles looked at her with a stern expression, causing her to halt her movements mid-way.
Adelle’s eyes darted towards Princess Amaya, and her piercing gaze was fixed on her. The hostility in her eyes was evident, and it seemed as if she was sizing up the princess, trying to find a flaw to exploit. On the other hand, the princess was not fazed by Adelle’s scrutiny. She held her head high and met her gaze with raised eyebrows as if daring her to continue. Adelle eventually averted her eyes and turned to Donello, the young prince. He was not unattractive, but compared to Charles Gray, he paled in comparison.
Adelle shifted her position and turned to face Charles, her eyes fixed on him. With measured calmness, she spoke, "Camilla had an unfortunate accident, so I have come to take her place and represent Uropa University." Adelle reached for the cup of coffee that Charles had been drinking from and took a graceful sip, savoring the rich aroma and flavor. Her eyes never left Charles’s face.
Princess Amaya was dumbfounded. Was it all right for her to do that in front of strangers? Even if she was his fiancee, Amaya still thought what she did was improper.
Was she jealous because she witnessed such sweetness? But when she thought of it, Charles Gray did not seem to care about Adelle as much as she does for him. Was it unrequited love? She thought of Marx and how he would look at her and care for her when they were in a similar situation. She looked at Adelle with pity.
Adelle glared at the woman sitting in front of her. What’s with the look in her eyes?
"Darling, aren’t these two the ones that we shared the elevator yesterday?" She narrowed her eyes at Amaya and pursed her lips. She sensed that the woman before her was a potential love rival, especially since Charles had shown interest in them.
"My name is Amaya Rocas from Lireya, and this is my younger brother, Donello." Amaya extended her hand for a handshake, but Adelle looked at the extended hand with disgust while sipping the coffee.
Amaya’s eyebrows rose. She nonchalantly retracted her hand and continued enjoying her pancake as if nothing happened.
Donello frowned. ’What a rude woman.’ He complained to himself.
"Don’t be rude, Adelle. They are participating in the sports event hosted by our country." Charles sounded exasperated.
"I see, so they are both contenders for the ’Battle of the Titans?’" Adelled asked. She did not receive any reply and assumed that it was him saying ’yes.’
"So, Princess, what event are you participating in?" Adelle stressed the word "Princess." Though she hated the monarchy outwardly, deep inside, she wanted the title of ’Princess’ as well.
Princess Amaya did not want to continue discussing with the spoiled woman in front of her. Unfortunately, she could not just leave as she would embarrass the Chancellor.
"My sister is participating in archery, equestrian, and track and field," Donello interjected. He did not like the way Adelle talked to her sister and wanted to show her that his sister had a lot of strength.
"Oh, so you are participating in the equestrian, too? What a coincidence. I am also in both archery and equestrian. As for track and field, who cares about that lowly event." A glint passed across Adelle’s dark orbs.
"Adelle! Watch your words." Charles was angry.
Adelle turned to Charles. She was not worried nor showed a trace of fear when Charles raised his voice on her. "Darling, the elimination round is this afternoon. You should watch and cheer for me, okay?" she said coquettishly.
Princess Amaya lost her appetite. She put down her spoon and fork and studied the garden below them.
Charles looked at the plate in front of Amaya. She only took a few bites. Charles stood up and regarded Princess Amaya with an apologetic look.
"Sorry If I disturbed your meal. Please continue. Adelle and I will move to another table."
"But Charles, I like it here. Why can’t we ..."
Adelled did not finish his sentence as Charles Gray held her hand and pulled her to the table at the farthest corner.
"What a spoiled brat. She is even worse than Danella." Donello complained.
Princess Amaya laughed. While Danella was spoiled by her mother, she was at least not as rotten as Adelle.
Amaya resumed eating and finished the pancake and croissant that she had placed on her plate.
"Sister, do you think she is a formidable enemy? She looked very confident, and there is a level of arrogance in her that makes her look scary." Donello shared his opinion.
Princess Amaya was proud of her little brother. He has matured in the last two years, and he was starting to show the aptitude of a future crown prince that he should be.
"Don’t worry, brother. We made a lot of preparation. If we do not win, then it means that we did not train or practice enough."
"What if she will use underhanded means? That woman is the kind that would do anything to achieve her goals."
Princess Amaya gestured to Donello to stop talking. "Do not speak of such things again. We are in Uropan territory. While the government encourages freedom of speech, we are still in their area, and anything could happen, so let us be more careful."
Just as Amaya finished reprimanding Donello, a waiter approached their table with an exquisite frozen hot chocolate dessert in a crystal goblet on a china plate. It was made of cocoa, frozen milk, and whipped cream and garnished with the famous Uropan truffle. A single red rose with two leaves made from chocolate lay on the dainty china. There was an inscription that read, Enjoy!
"This is the hotel’s specialty dessert, and the gentleman there sent this over."
Princess Amaya looked toward where the waiter was pointing and only saw the back of a man.
