Chapter 280: Marx’s Surprise For Her

After Marx dressed the wounds on Dave’s palm, Amaya realized how off-tangent their conversations had become. She gazed at Dave with a complicated look.

Remembering the first time they met at the zoo, Amaya could not imagine that Dave would have such a tragic past. Who would have thought that his family had an entanglement with the King of Ra-iya?

Amaya suddenly remembered that she needed to go check on Ren.

"I’m going back to the secret garden." Amaya stood and prepared to leave.

Marx closed his laptop and walked with her to the door.

Dave of course would not want to be left behind.

When they reached the brick wall where they had entered earlier, Dave tapped on the wall just like Marx did earlier.

Nothing happened.

Dave: "..."

"What do you think are you doing? Do you think this is an ordinary door that would open when you knock on it?" Marx chuckled.

Dave scratched his head. Amays smiled at Dave’s comical action.

"Then, how do you open that?" Dave asked like a child.

"It uses biometrics. It scans my palm print."

Amaya tried to spread her hand on the wall. They heard a click that signaled the door opened. She did not wait for the two men to open the door for her. She pushed it herself and entered the secret garden. She proceeded to the nook where Ava and Ren were.

"Are all the electrical wires hidden? What if there is no electricity?" Dave pondered as he examined the door closely. The door was designed in such a way that one would not suspect there was a door there. He could not even find the camera.

"The mechanism in the door is powered by an independent tiny uranium-powered module which could last a hundred years. The scanning device uses sound waves to get a print of my palm."

"You are biased Marx. You give the good things to Princess Amaya which you have known only for a few months and have forgotten about me, one of your best friends." Dave looked aggrieved.

"What good things are you talking about?"

"You used a mini reactor to power this palace. I have been clamoring for you to give me one, so I could shift the power source of the zoo."

Marxed sighed. He took out his cell phone and sent Dave a QR Code.

"You can order from the company using that link. But are you sure you want to? It will cost you both your arms and your legs. The solar panels you use to power the zoo are still fine. Wait a few more years before changing them."

"It will cost both my arms and legs? Not just an arm and a leg? That expensive?" Dave’s eyes widened.

"Bro, think about the ROI. It is a hundredfold in five years."

After replying to Dave’s seemingly useless questions, Marx hurriedly followed Amaya. He found her standing in front of the artificial cave talking to Spider Girl.

Ava chose to stand using her two human legs and her head was at the level of Amaya’s chest. Her legs felt wobbly but even if it became painful after standing for some time, she stubbornly kept standing.

"Your hair looks better. It doesn’t look like a hen’s nest anymore." Amaya praised her when she noticed that Ava’s hair looked clean and neat.

Ava looked down shyly. She spent four hours finger-combing her hair until she could no longer feel her human hands. They have grown numb and weak.

"I’ll give you something to wash your hair the next time I come back. There is a small waterfall over there." Amaya pointed to the side of the perimeter wall facing the mountains.

That side of the perimeter wall was painted with colors that seemed to blend with Mount Daya. A mound around three meters high was placed along that side of the wall and water gushed out from the top and cascaded like a narrow curtain of white gauze and fell directly to a bean-shaped pool below.

A small canal dug from the pool and wind around the secret garden, mimicked a stream flowing from the mountain. Stones of different sizes and shapes were placed on the floor of the canal to keep the water clear.

Plants that were dug out from Mount Daya and Mount Ibra grew lushly on both sides of the waterfall creating an effect that the falls was natural and not man-made.

Marx had buried a pipe underneath the ground and that was where the water from the falls came from. He tapped the water from the mountains. Marx especially made that for Amaya to bathe when she felt like it.

Ava had been to the waterfall a few times. She drank water from it and it was also where she fetched water using a leaf as the container so her injured brother could drink.

When Amaya saw the upper part of the waterfall from where she was standing, she remembered the first time she set foot in the secret garden.

It was her third day at the palace. She has just come from the Fairy’s Pool after an early morning bath. She went to the changing room to change from her swimsuit.

Beside the Fairy’s Pool, was a changing room. One wouldn’t think that it was a changing room because the walls and the door were painted with a colorful flower garden that looked endless. The flowers looked lively because they were painted using the 3D technique.

She came out from the changing room wearing an off-shoulder white cotton sundress midi. The hem of her dress was embroidered with delicate small flowers. Her hair was still damp making it appear straight and not wavy.

From Marx’s perspective who was standing beside the three-level pool, Amaya looked like a fairy who emerged from an endless garden of colors.

His breathing hitched. It took him some time before he was calm again.

Marx blindfolded her and led her inside the secret garden. When the blindfold was removed, Amaya was shocked at the sight before her.

A hedge that grew up to 2 meters formed an intricate maze in the middle of the garden. At the center of the maze was a gazebo made from logs. The gazebo could accommodate up to ten persons.

One side of the secret garden was planted with flowers and plants with colorful leaves. The other side was filled with rare and exotic plants. On one side was the waterfall.

Amaya was so happy that she threw herself and hugged Marx. Marx was caught off guard and fell on the grass with Amaya.
