Raised From The Wild-Chapter 230: Docile As Cat
Princess Amaya frowned when Sofia screamed. She saw that the lioness locked gazes with Sofia. The princess tried to get the lioness’s attention by growling softly.
A ray of sunlight seeped through the canopy of the tall tree that shaded them. The light refracted and hit Amaya’s face turning the color of her eyes from light brown into a deep shade of amber, deeper than that of the feline in front of her.
After meeting the human’s amber eyes, the lioness calmed down and became docile as a cat. She lay beside her cubs and let them suck her teats to get milk.
Sofia stood frozen and seemed to be struck by lightning. What happened? Wasn’t the lioness going to attack Amaya? Why did it lay down like a docile pet?
Amaya gently scooped the weakest of the six cubs. She caressed her small body with her finger. Per her judgment, this cub would not survive if left with the other cubs. She took an orange pouch from her backpack and transferred its contents to another pouch. She picked up some dried leaves and padded the pouch with them. She cut a portion of the coiled thin rope on her belt and made a strap for the pouch. Then she handed it to Sofia.
Sofia was surprised at how careful and thoughtful Amaya was. She could safely carry the newly-born cub by slinging the pouch on her body.
"You should bring it back and feed it immediately, otherwise it will not survive."
Marx and Vasquez escorted Sofia to the stallion. Sofia wanted to stay but she shot herself in the foot when she said that she wanted a cub earlier. Now that she was given a cub, she could not find any excuse to stay. Anyway, she would just ask one of her shadow guards to bring back the cub to the small facility in the hunting ground.
When Sofia has settled on top of the stallion, Marx slapped the butt of the horse. He applied a lot of pressure that startled the horse and ran away at maximum speed. Sofia’s four shadow guards did not bother to hide anymore. They ran across the savanna to follow the galloping horse.
When only the three of the humans were left, the lioness picked up one of the cubs by the scruff of the neck and gently held it in her mouth. Amaya scooped the rest and followed the lioness. She could not wait for the mother to finish carrying the cubs one by one. She already wasted a lot of time.
The lioness found a small cave hidden behind a thick bush. She placed her cub there. Amaya placed the rest of her cubs down and then patted the mother lion. She knew that the lioness left her pride to find a private den for her to give birth but she got entangled with the hunters. The place looked good and safe. It bordered the foot of the mountain and the savanna. This is where the cubs would stay until they were old enough to join the pride.
Amaya wondered if the lioness that had just given birth was part of the pride of the lion king she met earlier.
The three have not walked far when they meet four majestic lions. It was a rare sight even for Amaya who grew up in the jungle. The three lions looked young and were around three years old.
Amaya understood the situation. There were too many males in the pride. These young lions would not be going back to their pride but would look for another pride to conquer.
Amaya could not help but smile. This was an eviction from the pride and she benefited from it.
Amaya passed a sachet to Marx and another one to Vasquez.
"The mixture of herbs in the sachet will make the lions docile and will not harm you. I will lead the way and your lions will follow my lion." She instructed in a calm manner.
Amaya silently thanked the lion king and gently climbed on the lion’s back. Marx and Vasquez hesitated.
"Boss... shouldn’t we find a horse instead?"
Marx simply glanced at him indifferently, then he mounted the lion as gently as possible copying how Amaya rode it. It is not like riding a horse. Amaya distributed her weight on the back of the lion so she was half lying on the lion’s back. Vasquez followed suit.
The lions growled because of the unfamiliar weight on their backs. Amaya growled back and the animals became silent.
Lions have a body mass that was nearly double or triple that of a human. This gave them extra power and strength. Carrying 100 kilograms of weight on their back would be no problem at all.
"Princess, there is no saddle. Are we not going to fall when the lion starts to run? How about let’s find horses instead?" Vasquez voiced his concerns.
"Let’s change into horses when we find them. Be sure not to fall. You can hold unto their mane or their neck, but hold gently and don’t agitate the animals." Amaya reminded gently.
The lions started running toward the direction of Mount Paraiso. Marx estimated their speed to be 70 kilometers per hour. However, the deeper they go through the mountain, the denser the vegetation, significantly decreasing the speed of the wild cats. Unlike the lions in Miraga, the three lions were born in a savanna, so running in the jungle was challenging for them.
Meanwhile, Sofia was back at the campsite riding on a stallion that she happened to tame. Actually one of her shadow guards was an animal whisperer. It was he who captured and tamed the black stallion. It was too wild for Sofia to handle.
Her shadow guards were nowhere in sight so she decided to head back to the camp site. She earned points because of the captured black stallion. Her points were multiplied by one and a half percent.
She passed the pouch to a young veterinarian. "Take care of it and bring it to Area 1."
The young vet nodded and entered his tent. He needed to feed the newborn cub before bringing it to Area 1. Area 1 is a research facility for the newly born animals.
Sofia entered her tent. She wanted to upload the videos that the cameras hidden in her dress recorded
When she entered her tent to freshen up, a figure was standing inside with his back toward her.
She pulled a dagger from her inner thigh and pointed it at the back of the intruder.
