Chapter 220: The Father and Daughter

The driver was stunned when he saw a young girl rush out to meet the car. He tried hard to hit the brake but there was really no time.

"What are you waiting for? Get out and check." The man wearing a cold expression at the back shouted.

The driver hurriedly got out of the car. Jack Qin felt stuffy inside the car so he decided to take a look.

The young woman was lying with her back on the ground. The girl was unconscious and her right hand was clutching the locket of her necklace. The driver hurriedly called an ambulance.

Jack Qin thought that the girl looked familiar. He came nearer and squatted beside her. Half of her face was covered by her black hair. He swept away the hair from her face and he froze. She looked like a replica of his first wife. He gently unclasped her hand and looked at the locket that nestled on her chest. His hand trembled as he opened the locket.

"What are you waiting for? Call the helicopter." He roared at his driver and the few bodyguards who had gotten out of their cars.

Jack Qin wanted to carry the girl but he was afraid that there might be internal injuries which might be aggravated. There was nothing he could do but wait patiently.

"Appy first aid on her." He ordered one of his bodyguards who undergo medical training.

The guard did not hesitate and brought the first aid kit from the car and treated the visible bruises on her arms.

’Are you my daughter? I really wished that you survived that assassination. But who was the dead baby back then?’ Jack Qin murmured to himself.

The helicopter arrived in no time. Sofia was airlifted and brought to the nearest hospital.

"What is the name of the patient and her relationship with the Prime Minister?" The nurse filling out the admission form asked the guards.

Jack Qin’s Assistant did not know how to answer. "We hit her when she rushed into the street. The name we found on her identification is Sanya Dee."

Jack Qin ordered a paternity test and as expected it turned out that the young girl was his daughter. She was his Sofia.

When Sofia regained consciousness, Jack Qin was by her bedside.

"What is your name?" Jack Qin looked at the teenager lying on the bed gently. She looked like his wife but she got his eyebrows and the color of his hair.

"Sanya. But the nanny who I thought was my mother told me that my name is Sofia. Sofia Qin." She whispered hoarsely. She was still in pain. She just wanted to stop the car at that time but she did not expect to be hit really hard.

"My nanny told me to look for my family because it is no longer safe for me to stay with her..." Her eyes darted around the room. There were two men standing beside her bed. She was in a big private ward. There was a TV on the wall. The table at the side was filled with flowers and fruits.

Jack Qin was overwhelmed with emotions but his face remained expressionless. "Who are looking for?"

"My... My... father," she stammered. She took a deep breath. She felt a sense of familiarity with the man standing beside her. If she told her the truth, maybe he could help her find her father. "Last week, my foster father who was drunk tried to assault me. My mother... I mean my nanny knocked him out and sent me away. She told me to look for my father. His name is Jack Qin."

Jack’s last defense crumbled. He cried as he hugged his long-lost daughter. "My name is Jack Qin. I am your father. I am sorry that you suffered all these years. I thought that you died with your mother. There was a baby lying beside her." He tried to control his emotions but failed.

Sofia widened her eyes. The first time she opened her eyes and saw the man standing by her bedside, she could feel his powerful aura. She remembered her mother telling her that he was a high-ranking official in the capital.

"Father?" She asked with wide innocent eyes.

"Yes, my darling Sofia. I am the one who gave your name." He caressed her hair and continued to hug her.

Just like that, father and daughter reunited. That was the start of the wonderful life of Sofia Qin.

Two years after Sofia’s mother died, Jack remarried and he had three sons with his second wife. Sofia cultivated a good relationship with her stepmother and her three younger siblings. She knew that her father would love her more if she became an obedient daughter and a caring elder sister. She was lucky because her stepmother did not have a daughter so she became the only princess of the Qin family.

Her father doted on her more and so did her stepmother and her three brothers.

In one of the banquets hosted by the government officials in the Capital, Sofia met King Ralden. The King of Ra-Iya took notice of her and subsequently pursued her relentlessly. Sofia fell in love with the mature but gentle royalty from Ra-Iya. When King Ralden asked for her hand in marriage, knowing that the king has already many wives, Prime Minister Qin did not agree.

"He is too old for you. There are so many eligible bachelors who want to be your boyfriend, why him?" Jack Qin tried to knock reason into her brain.

"I only want him to be my husband, Father. I don’t want anyone else." Sofia said stubbornly.

Jack Qin was perturbed when his obedient daughter became willful. In the end, he reluctantly agreed to the marriage proposal. Ra-Iya was one of the few surviving monarchies so his daughter would not lose out. The King of Ra-Iya promised him to give the highest rank of a Consort to Sofia.

Sofia was nineteen years old when she met the King of Ra-Iya. She married him when she was almost twenty-one. Though the king had many wives, she knew that she was the one that the king loved the most. His marriage to King Duncan’s eldest granddaughter, Zanzara and her becoming the Queen of Ra-Iya did not change that fact. But when she saw the way King Ralden looked at Amaya, she felt threatened.

Sofia stole a glance at the Princess who was enjoying the second serving of her dessert. From the corner of her eyes, she watched King Ralden stealing glances at the Princess. She felt threatened.
