Raised From The Wild-Chapter 212: The Culprit
The King looked at Sapiro thoughtfully before shifting his gaze back to the arena. The few men who infiltrated the arena, hurriedly left after they confirmed that the Princess and her guard were alright. Only 4 guards were left. He recognized them to be guards who were always with Amaya. Were the others Amaya’s secret guards?
"Ladies and gentlemen..." The emcee’s cello-like voice filled the amphitheater. His voice pulled everyone from their daze. They could not believe what they have just witnessed that they forgot about the betting.
"This is unprecedented. Only two people won the bet! Congratulations to the bettor with the code name Maximus and Zeus.
The audience started to murmur.
"There is a winner? Impossible!"
"How could they win?"
Earlier, the moment the two humans appeared behind the tiger, the operator hurriedly added the entry to the list of beasts that would participate in the "Battle of the Beasts." The additional entry was "The Humans."
When Marx pulled Amaya to the corner, he saw that the number of people betting on the humans was zero. He whispered into his smart watch and activated the app for betting and placed 100% of his bets to ’The Humans.’
When people saw someone betting for "The Humans" they silently mocked them. Though they took pity on the two people inside the arena especially the woman who looked so frail and beautiful, no one believed that they would win. Who would waste money on a loser? But they were surprised that there were two fools in the world.
However, when they saw how the beasts were defeated by the two humans, didn’t they shoot themselves in their feet?
In the control room, Sofia was fretting.
"How did it happen?" She angrily stomped her foot. One of the cameras happened to zoom in on the headless body of the snake lying limply on the floor and then it panned to where the head was located. Sofia screamed and through the glass, she was holding to the screen. The glass and the monitor shattered.
"My Lady, please.. calm.. down." Her personal servant stuttered.
"How can I calm down? That woman is still alive and the animals were all injured!" her shrill cries scared her maidservant. She was breathing heavily and took a long time before she could finally relax.
In the arena, Amaya asked one of the guards for the first aid kit. She went first to the lion, pour disinfectant, and quickly bandaged its wound to stop the bleeding.
The lion growled. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Amaya growled back. "You are already in this situation and yet you are still arrogant."
The lion whimpered and covered its eyes with the paw of its uninjured forelimb. He looked ashamed and defeated.
The Princess went to the wolf and did the same thing she did to the lion.
Amaya: If you only listened to me and did not attack us, then you shouldn’t have been injured.
Wolf: I thought I was hearing things. And why would I listen to a mere human? I am the most cunning among the beasts.
Amaya tightened the strip of gauze around the wolf’s injured leg. The wolf howled in agony. The hair of the people in the audience stood on their end.
Wolf: It hurts. It hurts. I’ll listen to you.
The wolf whimpered and looked at Amaya with pitiful eyes.
Amaya loosened the bandage.
Soon, men in white coats entered the arena from a side door. They put the injured animals on the carts and pushed them out of the arena.
Marx and Amaya were escorted out of the arena and brought to the lounge at the second floor.
"Are you alright?" Sapiro asked. He was genuinely worried when the animals were attacking earlier.
"I am fine, Uncle. My guard protected me well." Amaya stole a glance at Marx who was standing expressionlessly beside her.
King Ralden and Zanzara approached her.
"Cousin, what happened? Why were you with the tiger? I was so scared and I can’t bear to watch so I closed my eyes the entire time."
"I am also wondering what happened." King Ralden said in a pleasant voice.
Marx was irked by the pleasant voice. "I also wonder, Your Majesty. The Princess just went to the restroom and fell into a trap door that directly led into the tiger’s den. It did not look like an accident but rather a deliberate move." Marx said sarcastically.
"You are just a guard. Show respect to the King of Ra-Iya." Queen Zanzara reprimanded Marx.
Marx ignored her. He continue to stare at the King who glared back at him. ’What insolence. What show of disrespect.’ But when the King remembered his identity, he restrained himself.
"When I was looking for clues at the Princess’s disappearance, I found out that there is no way that the trapdoor can be accidentally opened from the outside, so it should have been opened with the purpose of trapping the Princess."
King Ralden couldn’t see the rage in the guard’s eyes because he was wearing dark shades but he could sense it from his voice.
King Ralden ignore him. He looked at Amaya apologetically. "I will definitely look into this matter, Princess. Rest assured that I will provide an explanation within two hours. In the meantime, if the Princess wants to rest, there are guest rooms on this level. A servant will lead you into the room."
"Your Majesty, let me accompany my cousin. She might be scared." Zanzara said in her most gentle tone.
King Ralden gave her an approving smile before going of the lounge. He went to the control room to interrogate the people there.
The King’s aura was very dark. Everyone in the control room trembled with fear.
"Who activated the trap door in the female’s restroom in the East wing of the second level?" King Ralden roared.
Everyone was silent as they kneeled down.
"Don’t make me repeat myself. If no one speaks then everyone’s tongues will be cut off."
Who would want his tongue to be cut off?
"It was Ricardo, Your Majesty." a timid voice of a young man entered the King’s hearing.
Ricardo was an outstanding programmer who graduated last year. With wide black-rimmed eyeglasses, he looked like a nerd.
Ricardo’s entire body was shaking like a drift wood being tossed in a turbulent sea.
"Yo...Your.. Ma.. Majesty! I ... I .. did it. Please ... for...forgive me.. You.. Your Ma..jesty. I .. was.. or..dered to .. do ..it!" Ricardo stuttered so badly that King Ralden was even more furious.
"Who ordered you to do it?" King Ralden’s angry voice almost caused Ricardo to wet his pants.
"It ... is ... It ... is..."
