Chapter 183: Finally Home!

Amaya let out the animals from the back of the truck. Together with Marx, she led them to the forest at the back of her mansion. At first, Amaya was walking leisurely toward the forest. Khalil bumped at her from the back. Amaya almost fell down but Strata was right in front of her to cushion her fall.

Amaya understood what was behind Khalil’s action. The animals were urging her to play.

Amaya glanced at Marx and said in a hurried manner. "I will play with them first." Without waiting for his answer, Amaya ran in the direction of the forest.

"Be careful," Marx shouted behind her back.

Amaya felt nostalgic about her surroundings. Khalil and Strata were planking her on both sides while they were running while Kong was on top of the tree. He was swinging from tree to tree while his mate was closely following behind.

Marx tried his best to follow them. He ran closely behind but after some time he was panting and he lost them.

"Damn!" He took out his cell phone and turned on his locator app. A chip was embedded in the body of the animals. It was a tracking device. Amaya agreed to put a tracking device on the animals so she would know where they were at any given time.

Marx followed the direction where the dot in the application was. He only has a weak signal but he was thankful that it was enough to activate the tracker.

He reached a clearing and was about to say ’There you are!’ when his gaze landed on a scene that he did not expect. His heart almost went out of his throat.

Half of Amaya’s body was buried on the ground. She was talking to her pets who were pacing around restlessly. Kong attempted to pass to her a vine but with a little movement, Amaya would sink further down.

"Just stay still Aya, and stop moving," Marx said in a calm voice. ’How come we did not notice this quicksand before.’

Marx took the vine from Kong. He made a loop out of one end of the vine and put the loop around Khalil’s neck. Using a long branch, he attached the other end of the vine to the tip of the pole-like branch. He stood at the edge of the quicksand and he pushed the branch to Amaya.

Amaya seemed to understand Marx’s intention so when the vine was within her grasp she took hold of it without making any questions.

"Khalil, give me your best shot. Let us pull the vine together." Marx was amused by what he said. Never did he imagine that he would work together with an animal like his very life depended on it.

Strata understood what Marx wanted to do. He bit a portion of the vine and she started pulling along with the rest of them. Kong and his mate participated as well. They had easily dragged Amaya out of the quicksand. Only a few more pulls and Amaya would be saved.

Amaya was almost at the edge of the quicksand when the vine snapped. An involuntary scream escaped from her throat. Marx threw his body on the ground. He was lying face down and he extended his arms to Amaya. She was almost at the edge where the ground was solid.

"Aya grabbed my hands!" Marx shouted anxiously.

Amaya reached for his hands. The moment Marx felt her hand on his, he automatically clasped her hands tightly.

Marx was exerting to pull her out of the quicksand pit. "Khalil, Strata, can you pull me away from here?"

The two animals looked blankly at Marx as they paced around him and whimper at Amaya. Amaya chuckled.

"You still have the cheek to laugh at times like this? Tell your friends to pull me so you can get out of there." The anxiety in Marx’s voice was very apparent.

Amaya struggled and she sank deeper. She was now buried up to her chest.

"Aya, stop moving." Marx looked scared and his voice has a slight tremor in it. He still looked calm but his voice betrayed him. Amaya knew that he was scared.

"Marx, actually you can let go!"

"What? Are you crazy? I don’t want to!" He has his hands closed over hers. His grip was too tight that he was hurting her.

"No matter what happens, I will never let go!" Marx said as if she was promising her.

"But nothing will happen even if you let go." Amaya smiled mischievously.

"What do you mean?" Marx asked with a confused expression.

"I can feel that I am already touching solid ground. This quicksand pit is roughly around 1.5 meters but the middle part is a bit deeper."

When Marx heard what Amaya said, he heaved a sigh of relief but still did not release her hands.

He pulled her to the side. He felt the soil under his chest area was solid so he lifted his body and squatted on the ground. He then pulled Amaya out of the quicksand.

"Thank you Marx." Amaya looked at her cloth and she felt uncomfortable because she was dirty.

Marx seemed to understand her predicament. "If I remember correctly, there should be a stream nearby. You can clean yourself there."

Marx was busy looking at his cell phone. However, the signal was gone and he cannot determine which direction they should be heading.

Amaya closed her eyes and listened intently. Then she smiled and led them in the direction of the west.

"The stream is over there." Amaya used her mouth to point in the direction of the stream. Then she walked toward it.

"How did you know that there is a stream in that direction?" Marx was curious. No matter how hard he listened, he cannot say that there was a stream.

"I just listened. The sound of the water is very faint, but one can still hear it even with the other noises."

After a few minutes of walking, they finally saw the stream. The crystal clear water looked very inviting. Amaya did not waste any more time. She hurriedly took off her clothes and waded into the. She was only left with her bra and sports shorts.

She waded into the shallow part of the stream. She bent down, scooped the clear water, and washed her face. It felt very refreshing.

Marx cleared his throat. How should he reprimand Amaya about her habit of taking off her clothes even in public?

"Aya, did you forget what I told you before? Not all people are good. So be careful Don’t just take off your clothes your right before "

"I remembered, Marx. It is just that the water is so inviting that for a moment I thought I was back in Miraga. Aamays’s eyes flickered.

"Come! Accompany me in my swimming." Amaya dragged Marx to a nearby stream where the water was chest-deep. Amaya scooped the cool water in her palms and throw them at Marx. Amaya gave a hearty laugh when the water wet his hair.

"Heh! Don’t blame me. You are finding trouble for yourself!" Marx pulled Amaya towards him. She wanted to escape but his grip on her waist was strong. He lowered his head and captured his lips.

Amaya was panting when Marx released her.

"Why do you always like to kiss me on the lips?" Amaya asked innocently.

Marx stiffened. What kind of question was that? "Don’t you like me to kiss you on the lips?" He finally brought himself to ask her back.

Amaya’s face reddened. "Honestly, I like it. It feels good."

The corner of Marx’s lips curved upwards. At first, it was a small smile then it turned into a wide grin.

"If you like it, then let’s do it again. I cannot get enough of you." Marx slowly approached Amaya. He has a devilish smile on his face.

"Don’t move!" Amaya shouted. She instinctively reached out for an arrow at her back but her back was empty. She didn’t have her weapons with her.

"What’s wrong?" Marx was still. He did not move when he mouthed the question to her.

"There is a big snake behind you under the water. I think that is a poisonous snake." Amaya’s voice was calm. Deep inside she was thinking of ways how to get Marx out of the snake’s way.

Marx was also busy thinking about how to get rid of the snake. The only problem was, it was difficult for him because he could not see the snake as it was from behind him.

"What’s your plan?" This time, Marx’s look was too fearless. He intended to face the snake head-on. He has a pocket knife in his pocket. All he needed to do was to turn around and stab the snake.

Before Marx can make any move, Amaya kicked the stone underneath her feet. it traveled in the water and hit the body of the snake.

The snake hissed. It was agitated. it passed through Marx and was heading straight to Amaya.
