Raised From The Wild-Chapter 181: New Home
"What do you mean, Grandpa? Someone wanted to harm me?" Amaya asked with confusion painted on her face.
"We are not sure if it is you or Marx they are targeting." King Duncan’s gentle demeanor was only shown to Amaya.
"Don’t worry Grandpa, I will be very careful."
The three of them, moved to the reception hall where the palace reporters were waiting for them. To dispel the rumors, the palace decided to have a video and photos of Amaya published.
The rumor that previously erupted like a raging volcano on the internet calmed down with the press release from the palace. After the press conference, Amaya retired to her room where Lilia was waiting for her. She prepared her bath and Amaya thankfully submerged herself into a relaxing bath.
She had a very long day. But she enjoyed every moment of it.
The following morning, she woke up early and changed into a black jeans and a simple looking light yellow long sleeved blouse. She just opened the door when the sight of Lilia and her raised fist greeted her.
"Good morning, Princess. I was just about to knock when the door opened." Lilia explained.
Amaya nodded and headed to the direction of the reception hall. Marx is already there. Like her, he is wearing jeans and and a long-sleeved dark blue polo shirt.
"You are early, Marx."
Marx glanced at his watch. "I am just in time. It is already 6:30am."
Marx and Amaya were about to leave when King Duncan entered the reception room.
"Greetings, Your Majesty." Marx bowed slightly to show respect to the king.
"Can I talk to you about something important?" King Duncan asked.
Marx threw glance at Amaya before answering "Sure."
The King led Marx to his study. The guards closed the door gently the moment the two powerful leaders got inside.
Marx sat on a couch facing King Duncan. A middle-aged female servant poured coffee for them.
"The incident in the amusement park is not an accident at all. Someone paid the operator a huge amount of money to tamper with the ferris wheel. I do not know if the perpetrator is after you or after my granddaughter." King Duncan said those words nonchalantly as if he was just talking about the weather. He sized up Marx and studied his reaction but he was just looking at an expressionless mask.
"Don’t worry, Your Majesty, I have already asked someone to investigate. However, I don’t have a broad range of resources as compared to Usturia."
"I think the incident is an assassination attempt on you. Amaya has no enemies."
"Are you sure your Majesty? While Amaya is not a direct threat to the throne, she is getting popular that others might be overshadowed by her."
"Are you saying that someone from my family wanted to hurt her?" King Duncan snapped at him.
"It could be a possibility, Your Majesty. You are a wise and just King. I hope that you will punish the perpetrators once they are caught."
"Of course! Amaya is my beloved granddaughter after all. If it is related to you, then you have to distance yourself from my granddaughter, otherwise you might harm her unintentionally."
Marx pursed his lips and clenched his fists. "Your Majesty, I accepted Ibrahim’s call to protect Amaya. Rest assured that I will protect her with my best ability."
King Duncan kept nodding his head. "That is good to hear! I will give you update on the result of our investigation."
Marx left the study after thirty minutes and went to the reception hall where Amaya was waiting.
"Marx, can I drive your car?"
He glanced at Amaya and pondered for a while. "I will let you drive but you can only go 60 KPH."
Marx drove a Ferrari today and it was very pleasing to Amaya’s eyes.
"But wouldn’t it be an insult to drive a Ferrari at only 60 KPH?" Amaya asked innocently.
Marx looked at her. She was smiling at him with bright expectant eyes. Marx was defeated by that look.
"Okay, 100 KPH, then."
Amaya smiled and stepped out of the palace happily.
"She will drive." Marx told the driver.
The driver handed the keys to Amaya and held the car door open for her. Marx entered the front passenger seat. The driver went to a black car that was parked behind the Ferrari. He will have to ride with the bodyguards today.
Amaya started the car. She hasn’t driven for sometime now. The car like most sports cars uses manual transmission. Amaya started the car. She stepped on the clutch, placed the gear on low and and pressed on the accelerator. The car moved forward beautifully. It was like a red arrow that shoot forward as Amaya changed gear and pumped more gas.
Marx who is sitting on the passenger seat did not say anything. Amaya is still young. She is on the stage where she loves adventure and is reckless.
"Don’t be carried away, Aya. We will be entering the busy streets soon so you have to slow down." Marx reminded her.
Amaya smiled. Marx was acting like a father with his reminder. Amaya slowed down and kept her speed at 60 kph. She headed to the zoo.
The zoo was not yet open to the public when they arrived. The guards opened the gate for them and Amaya parked the car to the parking lot inside then she hurriedly walked to the enclosure where her animals where kept.
Her tigers and her wolves nuzzled around her while Kong and his mate where up the tree playing with one another.
"Hey buddies, we will be going to our new home." Amaya made a strange sound with her throat.
The tigers growled.
The wolves howled.
Kong jumped from the tree leaving his mate behind. He beat his chest with his hands while giving out gibberish sounds.
Amaya gigled. Her friends were very happy with the news. She understood that they were too bored staying in a confined space.
The truck that would transport the animals arrived. Amaya gestured at the animals to settle themselves at the back of the truck.
Khalil and his mate jumped side by side followed by Strata and her mate. Kong and his mate followed suit. Three pairs of wild animals were now lying comfortably on the back of the truck.
Dave filmed the entire process, from the time Amaya seemed to greet the animals to the time when the animals seemed to celebrate the good news to the time they jumped into the truck in an orderly and elegant manner.
Dave was very satisfied with what has just transpired.
"Does Amaya really understand her animals? From what I observed, it seemed that she can communicate with them." Dave asked Marx and gave his own observations.
"What do you think?" Marx asked him back without taking her eyes off the woman who was walking toward them in big strides.
"I think she can communicate with them. She speaks their language and understands them. What a rare talent." Dave gazed at Amaya adoringly. Marx stepped in front of him to block his view. He did not like the way Dave was looking at Amaya.
"Hey, what are you doing blocking my view." Dave complained.
Marx just snorted. He walked toward Amaya and the two of them walked side by side to the parking lot.
"Hey! Wait for me." Dave shouted. The two people in front of him did not intend to stop so he started jogging to catch up.
When they reached the parking lot, Marx opened the driver’s seat. Dave’s eyes widened when it was Amaya and not Marx who went inside.
"Is Amaya the one driving?"
Marx did not answer but walked around and get in the front passenger seat.
"What are doing, still standing there? Don’t you want to come?"
Dave hesitated. He looked at the black car that was park beside the Ferrari.
Marx rolled down the window. "What? Do you doubt Amaya’s driving skills? You might be surprised that she drives better than you."
After hesitating for a while, Dave opened the back passenger seat and buckled up.
"When did you get your driver’s license, Princess?" Dave asked.
Amaya started the car. "A little over a month ago." She answered without thinking.
Dave’s lips quivered. She just started driving and yet she has the guts to drive a Ferrari.
Marx cast a glance at the man who was sitting stiffly at the back. He snickered when he saw his pale face.
Amaya stepped hard on the gas and maneuvered the car out of parking lot easily.
Dave was dumbfounded. The Ferrari was clearly sandwiched between two cars and there was not enough space to maneuver and yet Amaya got so easily.
"How..how did you do that? How could you drive like that? You have just gotten your license!"
Marx laughed mockingly. "Well, Aya is not like you."
Amaya did not answer Dave. She was focused on driving. She loved the power of the car. Despite the fact that traffic has become heavier, yet Amaya was able to avoid other cars and has overtaken a lot of them.
Amaya was nearing an intersection. The light is still green. Amaya did not decrease her speed. Suddenly, a Bentley came from the right at high speed.
"Screeeeeech!" Amaya hit the break hard and twisted the steering wheel to the right. She closed her eyes and braced herself for impact.
