Chapter 170: Treasures Of The Island

"Oh my gosh! Am I dreaming?" One of the famous jewelers exclaimed.

"Wow! I have never seen such treasures before! Look at that, raw diamond, opal, rubies, sapphires, and amethyst." Another jeweler said dreamily.

King Duncan and Prince Ibarra looked at each other. Amaya did not mention anything about those treasures. They only guessed, but they did not think that the raw stones were very big. There were more than fifty displayed on the stage.

The audience became rowdy and the banquet hall was filled with excitement.

The auctioneer banged his gavel on the wooden table. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"Silence, please. We will not start the auction if you are noisy."

The audience suddenly quieted down. The auctioneer opened the glass shelf and picked out the first rock on the left and placed it on top of the glass cabinet. The camera zoomed in on the rock and a magnified version appeared on the big screen.

"This is an uncut and unpolished raw diamond. Starting price is one million."

For the second part of the bidding, only those in the jewelry industry participated. The famous Usturian Jeweller, "K" participated in all the bids and most of the raw stones were sold to them. What surprised Marx, Amaya , King Duncan and even the crown prince, was the fact that King Ralden’s assistant bid for some of the raw stones for rubies, diamonds, and sapphires.

"What are you going to do with all those raw stones? Do you have a jeweler in your palace?" King Duncan was curious.

"Yes, I have." King Ralden admitted openly. "Someone showed me a crown design and I liked it very much. The gems used in that crown were diamonds, sapphires, and rubies."

King Duncan nodded in understanding.

King Ralden glanced at Amaya and then he looked at Prince Ibarra meaningfully.

"I bet, you do not know how rich your daughter is. It looked like her net worth can surpass yours, Prince Ibarra." He said jokingly.

Ralden’s words hit the nail on its head. Prince Ibarra was thinking about the treasures that Amaya brought from the island. How much treasure was there? Where did she keep them? Why did she not tell them about it? He tried to remember if she ever told them about the treasures. Maybe she did in passing. He remembered Marx mentioned Amaya being rich when they were discussing the island but that was all.

King Ralden watched the prince’s expression and he could tell that he has no idea about Amaya’s treasures. He might have a general idea but he did not know the details.

’I should ask Amaya about it later.’ Ibarra thought.

"You looked surprised when the raw stones were unveiled, so I could guess that the existence of the treasures was not known to you. So, is it Marx Skylar who is helping and keeping the treasures for her?"

King Ralden studied the silent prince. He also stole a glance at King Duncan who was still focused on the auction but his thoughts were somewhere else.

"Princess Amaya is still young. I don’t think she doesn’t have trust in her family but rather, Marx might be manipulating her."

King Duncan shifted his focus to King Ralden. He looked at him with his piercing gaze. The wise king knew that King Ralden was trying to sow discord between Amaya and Ibarra.

"Amaya is already an adult. While we do not know the actual details of the treasures she bought, Marx did mention that Amaya is very rich. She and Marx have been through a lot together. In the half month that they were together braving dangers and facing life-and-death situations, it is only right for Amaya to trust Marx more than us." King Duncan was akin to a preacher preaching to his followers.

"I didn’t know that my future grandfather-in-law is so magnanimous. If it were me, then I would feel bad because a family member is much closer and trusted an outsider rather than me." King Ralden’s voice was very convincing.

King Duncan pursed his lips. He was looking at Ibarra who seemed to be in a daze. King Ralden’s words tonight caused alarm bells in his head. ’What is Ralden trying to achieve?’

"Ah, I don’t mind it. If I were in Amaya’s shoes. I will do the same. She just came back to us so basically we are strangers to her." King Duncan said nonchalantly. "You wouldn’t mind as well Ibarra, right?"

King Duncan’s baritone voice seemed to have pulled Prince Ibarra out of his daze. "Yes, Father. We will give Amaya more time to fully assimilate into the Rocas family."

King Duncan nodded. "What are you worrying about King Ralden?"

King Ralden chuckled. "Nothing much. It is just that I do not like Marx Skylar. He looked like a cunning fox."

The king of Lireya sneered. "Now, I understand where you are coming from. So it is because of Marx Skylar." King Duncan threw a furtive glance at Marx who was talking gently to Amaya. He thought that the scene was quite warm and they looked good together.

Prince Raquim who was at the far end of the table could not hear the conversation. But judging by the expressions of the three men he could deduce that they were talking about serious matters. He gave up trying to listen and focused on the auction while watching Marx monopolize Amaya. He was gloomy.

Zanzara who was silently listening could not believe that Amaya is very rich. Does that mean that she should be good to her so she can earn some benefits? She didn’t want to. She remembered that she will soon be the bride of the King of Ra-iya. No matter what, she will have a higher position as compared to her.

Princess Consort Nelida’s grip tightened on the wineglass. ’How can she be so lucky? If she is very rich, then wouldn’t Danella’s position be threatened?’

"Father, Hubby, I think King Ralden has a point. Amaya after all is a Rocas. We need to take care of Amaya so she will learn to fully trust us. When she trusts us, then she can share with us her burden." Nelida said in a gentle tone.
