Chapter 168: Treasures

The king’s interest was piqued. "Treasures?"

Zanzara frowned. Something in her mind told her not to say more, but because she wanted the king’s attention to her, she was willing to share what information she knew.

"My cousin has gifted her siblings with jewelry. Though Marx helped her commission a jeweler in Usturia, the materials used to create the necklaces, bracelets, and tiaras were provided by Amaya. She also mentioned in passing that she can bring Prince Donello to hunt treasures."

"Hmm, interesting." King Ralden started tapping his fingers on the table. The stupid woman beside him still has some use. It looked like she knew a lot of things.

"Choose what you like. For as long as it is within my budget, I will get it for you."

Zanzara’s face turned red. She pretended to be shy but after leafing through the brochure she pointed to a three-piece set that suited her style. The stones of the gem were small which was perfect for her preference. She looked at the starting bid and found it to be reasonable.

People started pouring in and the banquet hall was almost at its full capacity. King Duncan arrived together with Prince Ibarra, Nelida, and their trusted guards. Amaya together with Marx escorted them to where the King of Ra-iya was. King Duncan sat down beside Ralden and they started talking about current events.

Prince Ibarra on the other hand, went around the banquet hall and greeted the people who were eating and drinking. Prince Ibarra was good at social skills and because of that, people were close to him.

After some time, he led his Princess Consort to where King Duncan was seated. Prince Raquim soon joined them at the table. He greeted King Duncan with reverie and King Ralden politely. He greeted Prince Ibarra and Consort Nelida with the same politeness he accorded King Ralden.

The event officially started. Amaya and Marx went up the stage to welcome all the guests. King Duncan was all smiles as he listened to the melodious voice of his granddaughter who was speaking on the stage. He didn’t know that Amaya has a good voice and is a good public speaker.

"Good evening everyone. Thank you so much for honoring us with your presence tonight. I never thought that I will be able to leave that Island but fortunately I did. Unfortunately the island disappeared. While the world is so big, there are many things in the island that are unique and I want to share them with you."

"The inspiration behind many of the designs that you will see later were from the island. Most of the gems were also mined from there."

Amaya paused when she heard murmurs from the crowd. She decided to share this information as a lot of the people were already speculating about it anyway.

"Miraga was a Treasure Island. Some of you who had visited the museum have seen the catalog of metals and gems that we found there. You considered them as treasures and precious. But in our own little world where there was only Daddy Ibrahim and me, those treasures meant nothing at all. We gathered a few as my playthings and for a science project."

Amaya paused again and with a playful smile on her lips, she added, "Should I knew that those things would have made me super rich, I should have picked and dug out more diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, rubies, and opals.

The audience roared. Marx had a sly smile on his lips as he stood beside Princess Amaya. What a smart girl. She said those things to stop people from speculating about the Treasures of Miraga.

For tonight’s auction, Marx and Dave has invited a lot of jewelers from different countries. On top of the the pieces that Amaya designed, raw gemstones would also be auctioned. They were not included in the brochure but Marx had leaked information about them and they would be among the mystery items that will be auctioned on the latter part of the program.

"Part of the proceeds of tonight’s auction will be used to rehabilitate the two mountains in the Verde Island, a small island south of the capital. It will become a natural habitat of a few animals that we rescued from the Island of Miraga."

The camera zoomed in on Amaya’s beautiful face. The audience was entranced by the amber eyes that shone bright and clear. The eye color was a trademark of the Rocas, not dark enough to be brown and not quite light enough to be yellow. Prior to Amaya, turning eighteen, her eyes was mostly light brown. It only turned amber at certain angle and certain light conditions. But when she became an adult, her eyes turned permanently to amber. If there were people known to have hypnotic voice, there were also people who were known to have eyes that could take people’s breath away.

The audience was silent as they gazed at the blown up face of Princess Amaya on the big screen behind her. Prince Raquim literally stopped breathing for a heartbeat. Even King Ralden, could take his eyes off the screen.

Princess Consort Nelida and Zanzara both pursed their lips. Tonight, Amaya was like a star that dazzled everyone and they hated her more because of that.

Marx noted the abnormality of the audience. He took the microphone from Amaya and declared the official start of the auction. He then led Amaya down the stage.

"Princess Amaya is really surprising, King Duncan. No one would think that she grew up in the jungle and has not seen the world."

King Duncan has a broad smile on his face. "Amaya is a fast learner. You only have to show her once and she will be able to copy what you did."

"Are all the gems being auctioned here from the island?" King Ralden directly asked the king of Lireya.

"Let’s wait for the item’s description later. They will definitely share the origin of each piece of jewelry. But Amaya already mentioned that they are all from the island."

King Ralden nodded. He gestured to his personal assistant and he came with a glass of wine. King Ralden looked around. "This is a very high-profile auction. There are so many jewelers in the audience. Aren’t you afraid that terrorists or some rebel group would attack?"
