Raised From The Wild-Chapter 133: Attack First!
"Princess, I would not beat around the bush. The reason for my coming here is to beg you to return the island to us. That is our inheritance, a place where we grew up and where we have lots of fond memories. I can buy it back."
Amaya’s brows were raised as she looked at the man who was pleading before him. Didn’t the Earl tell her that his children have no affinity to the property which he spent sweat and blood to acquire?
"The Earl told me that you did not like to stay in Lireya, that you found it boorish and your life is more comfortable in Usturia. And you even changed your citizenship." Amaya was blunt with her words. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"My father is old and he is muddle-headed. While our current residence is in Usturia we still would like to maintain connection to where we came from and keep our roots."
"I am sorry but I cannot sell it back to you. You should have told your father not to sell it in the first place." Amaya was firm in her decision. She needed a place for her friends. While she pitied the Earl’s first son, she cannot feel his sincerity.
"I can pay double just to get it back!" Artemio blurted out in desperation. He cannot afford to fail in his mission.
It was not only Amaya who frowned but also Marx. The cost of the island was astronomical. It was difficult to raise such a huge amount. Artemio does not look like he was a billionaire. So where will he get the money? Was he bluffing?
"It is not about money Uncle Artemio, so no matter how much you will offer I will not sell it back."
Artemio panicked. It looked like he would have to go back to his father to plead. He looked defeated. He did not stay long and apologized for wasting the princess’s time but he did ask for the princess to think it over.
When he was gone, Amaya raised a question that she was itching to ask since earlier. "Why do you think he wanted to get back the island that badly?" She asked Marx but in her heart, she already has her answer.
"There is something he wanted to protect on that island. I bet that it is related to the animals that attacked us. He doesn’t look that capable. My bold guess is he is just a pawn."
Amaya nodded in agreement. That was what she guessed.
Just when they wanted to go back to the throne room, a royal guard announced the arrival of the defense minister and the different generals.
Marx pursed his lips. Is that how they kept things secret?
They followed the Defense Minster and the three Generals back to the throne room. The King led them to a meeting room which was behind the throne room.
When everyone has settled down, Lieutenant Ribay started explaining what happened during the attack and how they have killed so many of the animals. He presented some photos and video clips on the screen. The Lieutenant has installed two cameras on his clothes. One on his cap and the other on the button of his camouflage uniform.
The king, the crown prince, the defense minister, and the generals were shocked to see how ferocious the animals were. It seemed as if their intent was to kill. When the animals started exploding, their eyes widened. They suddenly realized that if such animals were released in the capital then it will be an apocalypse in Lireya.
"We need to attack immediately before they can evacuate. They should have known by now that we learned about their existence."
The Generals and the Minister of Defense confer upon themselves and they concurred to attack immediately.
"I have a question." King Duncan was looking at the three generals and the Defense Minister with a piercing gaze. "We allocate so much budget on defense. Did you not detect any abnormality on that island?"
The Minister of Defense could not look at the King directly. "I will check on this, Your Majesty. I will do a proper investigation. But I haven’t received any news about the abnormality on the island."
"I got information that they might be doing it inside the mountain," Amaya spoke softly and respectfully. The monkey told her that it was a cave, but Amaya felt that the cave was an entrance to an underground facility. "Judging at the number of the animals that they deployed, those animals might be cloned or bred in an unnatural way." Amaya shared her insights. She saw the generals nodding their heads. She heaved a sigh of relief that the generals took her words into consideration
"Be careful. Remember that the forest is very dangerous. Every animal there might have chips embedded in their body so whoever is behind them has many eyes and ears. And as reported earlier, the animals are mini bombs. The soldiers that you will deploy should be very careful." the crown prince reminded them. More or less, he understood what kind of problem they were dealing with.
"Provide an update after an hour and let’s convene at lunchtime." King Duncan said sternly.
He dismissed the four high-ranking officials of Lireya but asked his granddaughter and Marx to stay.
"I feel that you have something more to say?" King Duncan looked at his granddaughter. He could not believe that it was her who stumbled on something big and scary. He already considered the possibility of some group going on a mutiny against the Rocas. He really hoped that it was just an assassination attempt on one or two persons.
"Grandpa, the first son of Earl Anishton is adamant about getting back the island. He offered to buy it back at double the amount."
King Duncan released a long breath he was holding. "Do you think that the Earl of Anishton has something to do with the island?
"I don’t think that he has, Grandpa. Artemio Anishton looked harmless so he is only being used as a pawn."
