Chapter 603: Chapter 206: Kneel Down_1

Before them, a range of massive mountains sprawled on the ground, their peaks assertively rising as if they were giant tombs!

Amidst these mountains, malevolent energy soared, dark clouds shrouded the sky, ghostly fires flickered within, and anguished roars and crazed howls could be heard. Clearly, it was not a benevolent place. That’s why Li Zhenying couldn’t help but cry out in alarm....

The Bronze Dragon furrowed his brows and said, "This place... looks familiar."

Qin Shou found it even more familiar. He had been here not long ago, only then he was brought here not by the Bronze Dragon but by the Black Dog Dog Xiaotian.

Qin Shou’s eyes lit up as he said, "We’ve got a chance to live!"

"Really?" asked Li Zhenying, her voice filled with excitement.

With a wave of his hand by Qin Shou, the young girl crouched down obediently. Qin Shou patted her head and said, "Nonsense, when have I ever lied to you?"

The Zhongshan Daoist voiced his reservations, "Rabbit, think this through. That place looks ominous at first glance, and I even feel that it’s scarier than the Black Qilin... Do you want to reconsider?"

The Bronze Dragon also asked, "Rabbit, I remember now, that’s Deer Hunting Plain, the ancient battlefield left from the war between the Yan Emperor and Huang Emperor against Chiyou. It’s a forbidden zone of life where no living being should enter; since ancient times, none who have entered have come out alive. Are you sure you want to run that way?"

Qin Shou retorted, "If we run in a different direction, can we live then?" 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

The Bronze Dragon fell silent....

Qin Shou continued, "My thinking is simple, if this place is so dangerous that we fear it, then that runty guy surely fears it as well. If he catches up, we all die together!"

The Zhongshan Daoist posed a counterquestion, "What if he doesn’t chase us?"

Qin Shou replied, "At least we wouldn’t have died by his hand, and he would have lost all his men. In the end, if he doesn’t kill us, we’ll have given him one final annoyance."

Hearing this, Li Zhenying voiced her fears, "Bunny, are we really going to die?"

Looking at Li Zhenying’s scared expression, Qin Shou’s heart softened, and he said, "Not necessarily, there’s an old acquaintance here who might be able to help us."

"An old acquaintance? How well do you know him?" asked the Zhongshan Daoist.

Qin Shou answered, "Well... I’ve met him once."

Zhongshan Daoist, Li Zhenying, Bronze Dragon: "...."

Only Kui San was there scratching his bald head, looking lost and bewildered, not understanding why everyone was suddenly speechless.

"Stop talking and give directions! The Black Qilin is catching up," the Zhongshan Daoist shouted.

Qin Shou pointed to a solitary small hill in front and said, "That’s the one!"

The Zhongshan Daoist exclaimed, "Rabbit, are you sure you aren’t mistaken? That? A small hill among thousands of graves, even if there’s someone there, they’re not a good sort!"

Qin Shou bitterly smiled and said, "It’s a dead horse being flogged as though it’s still alive. If all else fails, we’ll hide among the graves! Damn it, I’ve nibbled at the Heavenly Court, bitten at the Netherworld, I refuse to believe I’d get buried in a bunch of tombs."

At that very moment, the Black Qilin was about to catch up. With no time to think, the Bronze Dragon, controlling the Dragon Hiding Cauldron, spun around and charged down towards the lonely hill!

The Black Qilin probably hadn’t anticipated that the Rabbit and his companions would suddenly accelerate their descent. Unable to stop in time, he overshot them. By the time he turned around and looked back, the bronze cauldron had already landed on the hilltop...

Leiqiu glanced at the hilltop, furrowing his brows slightly and muttered, "Someone actually lives there? Could it be an ally the Rabbit found?"

The Black Qilin snorted, seemingly asking whether to pursue them or not.

Leiqiu narrowed his eyes, silent, his gaze landing on the thatched cottage on the hilltop, as if pondering something.

By then, Qin Shou and the others had already leapt out from the cauldron. Qin Shou took the lead, pushed open the courtyard door and shouted without entering, "Old man, it’s been a while, I’ve come to see you."

But despite Qin Shou’s calls, there was not a stir from within the thatched cottage.

The Zhongshan Daoist inquired, "Rabbit, when was the last time you came here?"

Qin Shou replied, "More than three hundred years ago."

The Zhongshan Daoist asked, "Are you sure the old man inside is a sage?"

Qin Shou recalled the scene of his last meeting with the old man, the old man carrying an oil lamp, having to get close to shine it properly to see their faces. It didn’t seem like the old man was a sage; instead, he seemed more like an ordinary person.

It seemed the Zhongshan Daoist realized what Qin Shou meant and said, "A mortal has a lifespan of only a hundred and eighty years at most; perhaps the person inside has already passed away."

Qin Shou’s heart skipped a beat. Could the old man really have gone?

But Qin Shou immediately shook his head in denial. He remembered Dog Xiaotian mentioning that the old man was a veteran of the Deer Hunting battle! After the battle, all who survived either perished or ascended to Heaven, leaving behind only this one man to tend to the souls of the dead soldiers.

Previously, Qin Shou didn’t find the souls here particularly terrifying. In his view, no matter how fearsome, they were just a bunch of ghosts. After all, he had seen countless heavenly soldiers and generals; what were a few ghosts to him?

It wasn’t until his visit to the Jiuyin Netherworld and seeing the Asura Clan in the Nether River that Qin Shou connected all the dots and suddenly understood something.

These soldier souls were definitely not ordinary!

Otherwise, given the Nether River Patriarch’s character, who loved collecting soldier souls to reincarnate as Asuras so much, how could he ignore so many top-quality soldier souls?

To say the Nether River Patriarch feared the Three Emperors, Qin Shou didn’t believe it.

Though the Three Emperors were powerful, the Nether River Patriarch was also no pushover. If he were truly incompetent, he wouldn’t have been squatting in the Nether River for so many years, with both the mighty powers of Heaven and Buddhism unable to handle him.

Thus, all things considered, the only reason the Nether River Patriarch didn’t touch these soldier souls was that he simply couldn’t! They were too much for him to handle! Beyond his reach!
