"I was wondering what was making you feel so happy, and it’s just a boring walk around the pond, huh?" Xuan Mu remarked, leaping out of Ru Quan’s body.

Xuan Mu flanked Bing Shi from the other side and kissed her cheek, "But it all makes sense now, with such a radiant beauty by your side," he spoke to Ru Quan while showing his wife an alluring smile.

Bing Shi’s gaze shifted away from his, "We are not doing it."

Xuan Mu looked at her with a puzzled expression, then his eyes lit up. He burst out laughing, "What again?"

Her face remained impassive, with a single eyebrow arched in a judgmental fashion, "Ru Quan said you’ve been thinking about having a threesome with Shina all day, and have been nagging him about it when he clearly told you he wanted to spend some quality time with our son."

Xuan Mu’s expression froze. "..." A long pause followed, during which his expression grew even more unreadable. Finally, he said, "Ru Quan is a filthy, filthy liar."

"Hmm..." Bing Shi shrugged her shoulders, clearly not convinced. Xuan Mu was the greatest trickster and would do anything to get things done his way.

Xuan Mu turned towards her and gave her an honest look. "Okay, okay, I won’t deny that I was open to that idea," he flashed her a toothy grin as he curled a strand of her hair around his finger, "and I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t make it happen. Shina’s body is sturdy enough for a bit of roughness."

"My little widow is not going to spread her legs for someone else for a while," Bing Shi crossed her arms as she walked ahead, "Why can’t you two just have sex with this body?"

"How can we do those things to this divine grace?" Without touching her, Xuan Mu’s hand traced the outline of her thin frame with an exaggerated delicacy, as if he were handling the most fragile of porcelain figurines, "The mere thought that a momentary lapse in focus could shatter you terrifies me."

Her body seemed too delicate for this world, like a living work of art that had accidentally wandered into the mundane realm.

Hence, the explanation for why they only dared to engage in intimacy with her when Lu Kai was at his absolute softest and gentlest.

"You can just heal me or place me inside another body of your liking, what’s the big deal?" She spanked his bottom. Who claimed she was absurd? This man was the living embodiment of utter nonsense!

Xuan Mu leaned in, his lips gently meeting hers in a kiss, planting a delicious hint of desire inside of her, "It’s not only about the flesh. I want to be close, truly close with the character and body I came to cherish."

Each look and touch hinted at more, yet he always pulled back at the peak of tension. It was as if Xuan Mu relished maintaining the tension between them.

"..." Bing Shi hid behind Ru Quan. She might not be one to seek physical passion, but the emotional back-and-forth tugged at her nerves.

Even if she yearned for Xuan Mu to abandon his restraint and go all the way with her, he was resistant to easy seduction. She couldn’t just strip in the hope he would claim her right here and now.

Bing Shi climbed onto Ru Quan’s shoulders for a piggyback ride and hid her face on his shoulders. In case her emotions boiled over Xuan Mu, Ru Quan would be the one to provide the comfort she needed.

Part of her felt like a novice chess player facing a grandmaster — outmatched and inexperienced.

Each of his personalities was like a unique chess piece on the board, each serving a distinct role but contributing to the same intricate game of strategy and wits.

’I love him so much.’

Dai An didn’t need to be reminded twice as she felt Bing Shi’s face heating up.

’~You haven’t been affected by your godhood much lately, have you?’

Her husband was distracting Bing Shi from her own godhood, making her feel like a shy maiden, all flustered and head-over-heels.

’My love for him is becoming absolutely unbearable. It’s like I’m carrying around a sack of love bricks, and it keeps getting heavier!’

Bing Shi’s heart was trying to keep pace with the whirlwind of feelings he inspired, fluttering one moment and then racing the next. She yearned to reach out, to touch him, to express what bubbled inside her.

"..." Ru Quan felt Bing Shi’s teeth sink into the nape of his neck, nibbling and sucking on his skin, ’Don’t drive her too wild.’

’You are saying what you don’t mean again,’ Xuan Mu retorted with an impish smile, his fingers lightly grazing the space ring on her finger. He pulled out the monkey mask from her space. His eyes fell on the heart-shaped mark drawn by another man. With a deliberate touch of his finger, he traced his thumb forcefully over it, causing it to crack.

Xuan Mu carefully slid his arms beneath her, one behind her back and the other supporting her knees. Lifting her effortlessly, he cradled her in his arms like a baby as Ru Quan merged into his body.

Bing Shi leaned in and wrapped her arms tightly around Xuan Mu’s neck. She hugged him in silence, her body pressed closely to his, "Hubby Imp."

"..." Xuan Mu caressed her back, "Yes, Dai An?"

"Do you think I deserve the same amount of love as Bing Shi?" Dai An asked while mocking Bing Shi for running away.

"Why shouldn’t you?" Xuan Mu pecked her cheek.

"Well..." Dai An paused, "I think Bing Shi loves Hubby Gloombug more than you, so I wondered if you also love us unequally."

’HOW DARE YOU DAI AN!’

Xuan Mu pecked her cheek once more, "Well, that’s understandable. I would also love Ru Quan more than myself if I were Bing Shi. That’s why I had to send him away for a while, so I can level out our love field."

’囧...’

’We need to resist Dai An! This man is doing it intentionally!’

’~I told you he doesn’t love me as much as you. Why even try to compete for his love? I should as well make him suffer.’

Dai An was unrelenting when it came to confronting Xuan Mu, "If this is a love field, you’re not just leveling it, you’re digging yourself into a hole."

Xuan Mu leaned closer, his voice tinged with flirtation, "Well, digging isn’t so bad if you’re the treasure at the end of it."

Dai An was not someone who was used to flirting around, so she remained brutally honest, "A treasure? More like a bottomless pit of disappointment."

’囧...Oh, dear.’

"..." Xuan Mu paused for a moment, keeping his composure, "Has Bing Shi ever mentioned that I’m quite a glutton for punishment? I can find solace even in the ocean of shattered expectations."

Dai An didn’t show herself much, but after spending some time with Shina, everyone came to realize that her character held more of Dai An’s essence than Bing Shi’s — especially around Nathaniel.

What could Dai An say? Her husband was Bing Shi’s fatal weakness.

The contrast between Xuan Mu’s provocativeness and Dai An’s resistance created a dynamic that left Bing Shi feeling torn.

’~If you want me to keep resisting hubby imp, you should consider withholding your inner feelings like you do with your godhood.’

’But he is so charming, and...and I’m finding it difficult to suppress and squash something that I’m actually enjoying.’

’~You are so smitten. It’s almost pathetic.’

’I know, but I can’t help it. I love his teasings.’

"I love you," Bing Shi purred into Xuan Mu’s shoulders, "No matter where you are, no matter how far apart we are, no matter how much time has passed, no matter what you say, no matter what you do, no matter if I can’t see you again, no matter if you forget about me, no matter what happens in the future, you will always be my only one, the most precious thing in the world to me."

For a moment, Xuan Mu was paralyzed, unable to speak or move. A warm feeling spread from his shoulders where her cheek rested, filling him with a sense of completeness, "Alright, alright. I won’t tease you anymore," he said, soothing her helplessly.

Bing Shi was not a hundred percent Shina. She was not someone who would want to make things difficult for him. She only wanted to love him, in every form and every moment that life allowed.

There were always hints of Dai An’s existence scattered across this novel, but I would say the biggest forebonding was in Chapter 5.21 where Lu Kai contemplated who he would love the most in case another Bing Shi appeared. 😁
