Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 789 - 787_1
Julia’s words struck Adele straight to the heart.
Adele isn’t young anymore, Julia considered. She’s about to turn twenty-eight, practically a ’leftover woman’ by societal standards. Women, alas, tend to age quickly after they pass twenty-five. Even if Adele takes good care of herself, time is ruthless. I still hope she and Noah can be open with each other sooner rather than later.
Adele remained silent, an implicit agreement.
"Silly girl, if you’re in love, just admit it. Why hide it? You might fool others, but can you fool your own heart? Okay, so Noah isn’t exactly a saint. I’m not trying to discredit him, but his status means he can’t be a perfect good guy. However, his feelings for you, his intentions towards you, are nothing if not sincere. Think about it for yourself: for your sake, he has silently endured all the grief your family gave him. No matter what it was, he took it all on without ever uttering a single word of complaint. Now think about the men who have pursued you. Compare their love for you to Noah’s affection and intentions. You’re a smart woman; you should know who can give you real happiness."
Julia spoke with deep, heartfelt urgency.
After that string of words, she took two more gulps of milk, unable to resist muttering, "This milk is too rich."
Adele arched an eyebrow. Hearing her sister-in-law’s mutter, she could easily imagine Julia nestled comfortably in her brother’s arms, sipping that rich milk.
A wave of endless envy rose in her heart once again.
It was undeniable: her sister-in-law was the happiest woman in the world.
And she, too, could be the happiest woman in the world, if only she would agree.
"And don’t feel that the grievances you’ve endured for years were all for naught," Julia continued. "I guarantee that guy will definitely make it up to you. As for you never having been in a relationship, if you just say the word, he’ll give you that romance. He’ll make every day sweet for you..."
Julia’s string of words shocked Adele. She almost suspected her sister-in-law could read minds; Julia seemed to have seen right through her heart. Her sister-in-law had guessed everything Adele had just been considering!
"Adele, happiness is right in front of you. Seize it, don’t let it slip away. Life is only a few decades long, and time waits for no one. Grab it."
Julia emphasized her final sentence, her tone particularly heavy.
Adele Horne glanced at Noah Reyes. His gaze was magnetically fastened on her. The depth of affection, sincerity, and guilt in his eyes was so clear, so real. What did she still have to worry about? What reservations were still holding her back?
Even the deepest pit can be crossed if you just take a step.
"Sister-in-law, I get it now. I understand. Thank you. You’re the best sister-in-law in the world," Adele Horne said earnestly. Then she ended the call and walked briskly over to Noah Reyes, stopping to look intently at him.
Noah also looked back at her intently.
The next moment, Adele Horne threw herself into his arms.
Noah was first startled, then ecstatic.
He knew what her taking the initiative meant.
It meant she had forgiven his unannounced departure all those years ago. She was willing to give him a chance to make amends, to give him and their son a complete family.
Just half a year ago, she had pushed him away as if he were the devil himself.
But now, she didn’t want to push him away.
Her sister-in-law was right. If you love someone, why hide it? You can hide it from others, but not from your own heart. Regardless of how their paths first crossed, he loved her, and she had feelings for him—that was enough.
Letting go of her reservations and accepting reality was the only way to step through the door to happiness.
Hadn’t her sister-in-law done the same thing years ago? Was Julia even in love with her brother back then? But her sister-in-law was strong; she didn’t run from the situation. Under her brother’s care, she dared to accept reality, and that’s how she found the enviably happy marriage she had today.
"Noah..." Adele’s voice was like a soft caress as she spoke his name.
