Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 569 Jealousy is a Joke (4)_1
"Huh? He’s still quite jealous!" Julia thought.
She offered an even more charming and captivating smile, one that no man could resist.
Her soft hand caressed Glades Horne’s tense face, which only softened in her presence, as she whispered softly, "Not at all. In my heart, you are the best man in the world, a truly upright and outstanding man—top-notch, the cream of the crop, first-class, the very best..."
TEE-HEE...
HA-HA...
HEH-HEH...
Different bursts of laughter suddenly erupted from Adele Horne, James Horne, and the Old Madam, while Aunt Mei and Uncle Ying struggled desperately to suppress theirs, nearly giving themselves internal injuries in the process.
Glades Horne was caught between laughter and tears. Hearing the roar of laughter from his family, he turned his head and glared, silencing them immediately.
Turning back to his beloved wife, he knew she had spoken that way because she worried he might hurt Flynn Walker. The jealousy intensified. It was as if, in her heart, he was just a brute who only knew how to use his power to intimidate others.
"Perfunctory," he said.
"Glades." Julia rose slightly on her tiptoes, her smile vanishing. She looked at him very seriously and said, "My heart... don’t you understand it yet?"
Glades Horne looked deeply into her eyes, then lowered his head, bringing his handsome face close to hers. He gave her lips a light peck. His expression softened, and he said in a low, gentle voice, "I understand. Don’t worry. I just want to see what this Flynn Walker, who dares to pursue my sister, looks like. I won’t hurt him."
More importantly, he wanted to see just how refined and gentlemanly Flynn Walker truly was.
Julia smiled. Her reaction earlier had been a bit rash; she hadn’t trusted him enough.
She pulled his head down and whispered in his ear, "I’m sorry."
"Those are the three words I least like to hear from you," he said, holding her close. His mood greatly improved. Turning around, he embraced Julia as they walked back to the sofa. Adele Horne, ever so perceptive, gave a knowing smile and tactfully moved to sit opposite the Old Madam, leaving the long sofa for her brother and sister-in-law to be lovey-dovey.
The couple began to display their affection as if no one else was around.
Their affection was as intense as that of newlyweds. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Glades Horne had been on a business trip for a week and had only returned late last night. It was the first time the couple had experienced the ache of separation, so everyone could understand, no matter how much affection they showed now.
"Uncle Ying, let that fellow surnamed Walker in."
Only then did Glades Horne instruct Uncle Ying, having been interrupted by his wife earlier.
Uncle Ying acknowledged and turned to walk out of the room.
Under Uncle Ying’s guidance, Flynn Walker entered with a heart full of apprehension. Upon entering the grand hall, he felt as if he had stepped into a palace. It was opulent yet possessed a natural elegance. Every table, every chair, every lamp, and every ornament was exquisitely designed. Standing in this hall, one could simultaneously sense both luxury and nature, with nothing feeling out of place.
Uncle Ying had said that Young Master Horne wanted to see him.
He grew nervous, but not afraid.
Nevertheless, he felt apprehensive. After all, Young Master Horne was a legendary figure whom he had only ever seen in newspapers or on television, never in person.
He had heard that Young Master Horne was an incredibly formidable man, yet so devoted to his wife that it made other men feel inadequate—a man who doted on his wife to the heavens. His wife was an object of envy and admiration for women everywhere.
Upon entering the hall, his first instinct wasn’t to look for Young Master Horne, but for Adele Horne. When he saw Adele, a flicker of tenderness crossed his gentle face. Holding the bouquet of fiery red roses, he shyly approached her, offering the flowers. His voice, as mild as a spring breeze, was rich and pleasant to hear. "Miss Horne, these flowers are for you."
Adele Horne glanced at the flowers, then at him, and finally at her brother, whose handsome face had instantly tensed like marble the moment Flynn Walker stepped in. She couldn’t help but admire Flynn Walker’s audacity in daring to ignore her brother, who was like an Emperor.
"Mr. Walker, our Young Master wishes to see you," Uncle Ying stepped forward a couple of paces, reminding Flynn Walker.
Flynn Walker finally snapped back to reality. Adele Horne hadn’t accepted his flowers. Feeling a little dejected, he turned and saw Glades Horne seated on the sofa. His first impression: this man was incredibly handsome, almost divinely so, tall and powerfully built. Even seated, his considerable height was apparent. He wore a black suit without a tie, yet he exuded an overwhelming aura of dominance. His handsome face was taut and expressionless, without a single line, and his deep-set black eyes shone brightly. However, their gaze was unfathomable and incredibly sharp, like two piercing swords. A single moment of eye contact, and Flynn Walker found he couldn’t meet it any longer.
Such piercing eyes!
Those well-defined lips were pressed so tightly together, like a single thin line, that he almost doubted they could even part to speak.
"Young Master Horne, good day," Flynn Walker greeted him politely, despite being intimidated by Glades Horne’s piercing gaze.
Glades Horne didn’t speak. He merely kept his lips pressed tightly together, staring at Flynn Walker without blinking. His scrutinizing gaze, as if deliberately trying to find fault, made Flynn Walker involuntarily tense up.
No one else spoke either.
"Young Master Horne," Flynn Walker cleared his throat and called out again.
Glades Horne still didn’t speak, his lips remaining firmly pressed together as he continued to stare intently at him.
Glades Horne stared at Flynn Walker for about ten long minutes. In those ten minutes, Flynn Walker went from initial nervousness to fear, and finally to outright panic. He had no idea why Glades Horne was staring at him so fixedly. Glades Horne’s gaze was so intense that few could withstand being subjected to it for a full ten minutes. Flynn Walker’s face began to flush, and cold sweat beaded on his forehead. He even started to irrationally wonder if he’d put his clothes on backward. Even though he could feel the buttons on his chest, confirming they weren’t, under Glades Horne’s unrelenting stare, he couldn’t shake the absurd feeling.
This is the man she called ’pretty good’? Glades Horne scoffed inwardly.
He’d only been scrutinizing him for ten minutes! Look how much his expression had changed—from nervous to afraid, then from afraid to panicked. His face even turned red, and worse, he actually broke out in a cold sweat! Am I, Glades Horne, some kind of ghost or demon? Am I that terrifying? Can ten minutes of just looking at someone really scare them this badly?
