Piss Off, Alpha! You Lost Me Forever-Chapter 90 Spend The Night With Me
SOPHIA’S POV
I could see the bonfire ahead.
I walked faster but then something made me stop.
What was I doing? Did I really think Damien would help me after he’d hung up on me earlier? Did I really believe my mate - the man who’d chosen his mistress over me at every turn - would suddenly stand up to his best friend for my sake?
I turned around. A waiter passed by carrying a tray of wine glasses. I grabbed one without thinking.
Then I walked back toward the bonfire.
I could see them all now. Damien was sitting in a beach chair. His arm was casually draped across the back of Tiffany’s seat. She was leaning into him, giggling at something. Ashley was playing in the sand nearby, building something with another child. And Simon - Simon was standing with Nate and a few others, a beer in his hand, looking smug and satisfied.
I walked right past Damien, past Tiffany, past my daughter. My eyes were locked on Simon.
He saw me coming. His smirk widened.
"Sophia! What a surprise-"
I threw the entire glass of wine in his face.
The red liquid dripped down his neck and stained his expensive white shirt. The glass fell from my hand onto the sand.
Everything went silent.
Simon stood there. He had wine dripping from his hair and his eyes turned gold with his wolf’s rage.
"You bitch," he growled.
I didn’t flinch. I looked at him head on. In fact, I was more than ready for a fight.
I’d had enough.
"You destroyed an innocent man’s life," I said. My voice came out as a growl. "You sent people to break his hands, to take away everything he worked for. And for what? Because he dared to defend me?"
"Mommy!" Ashley shrieked. She came running over. She looked at me with an annoyed expression "What did you do? Uncle Simon didn’t do anything wrong!"
I looked down at my daughter. "Ashley, you don’t understand—"
"You’re mean!" Ashley shouted, pushing me. "Uncle Simon is good! He loves me! And you just - you just threw wine at him for no reason!"
"It wasn’t for no reason," I said, "He hurt someone very badly-"
"I don’t care!" Ashley stomped her foot. "Apologize to him right now!"
My wolf whimpered at the rejection in my daughter’s eyes. "Ashley-"
"Apologize!" she screamed. "Say you’re sorry!"
"I won’t apologize for standing up to a bully," I said,. "Even if that bully is your precious godfather-"
"That’s enough." Damien spoke. He was standing now "Sophia, what the hell do you think you’re doing?"
I turned to face him, my mate, the father of my child, the man I’d once loved more than anything. "I came here to ask for your help. I called you, begged you to stop Simon from destroying Lance’s life and you hung up on me."
"I was busy," Damien said coldly.
"Busy building sandcastles while an innocent man was being attacked?" My voice rose. "Busy playing happy family with your mistress while your friend sent thugs to break a surgeon’s hands?"
Tiffany gasped. Ashley looked confused but Damien’s expression didn’t change.
"I told you I wasn’t getting involved in Lance’s problems," he said flatly.
"They’re not Lance’s problems! They’re Simon’s crimes!" I pointed at Simon, who was wiping wine from his face with a napkin someone had handed him. "He admitted it, Damien. I heard him bragging about it. He sent people to break Lance’s hands so he could never perform surgery again. He did this because Lance had the audacity to defend me when Simon was being cruel."
"I didn’t hear him admit anything," Damien said.
"Because you weren’t listening! You never listen when it comes to me!"
"Mommy, stop yelling at Daddy!" Ashley grabbed my arm, trying to pull me away. "You’re ruining everything!"
I looked down at her, at this child I’d nearly died to bring into the world, and something inside me finally snapped.
"You want to know what I’m ruining, Ashley? I’m ruining the fantasy that your father and his friends are good people. I’m ruining the lie that Uncle Simon is some kind of hero instead of a-"
"Sophia." Damien’s voice carried alpha command now. The force of it made my wolf instantly want to submit. "Don’t you dare say another word in front of my daughter."
"Your daughter?" I repeated. "She’s my daughter too! Or have you forgotten that?"
"Then act like her mother and stop causing a scene."
The words hit me hard. My wolf howled in pain, and I felt tears burning in my eyes.
"I came here to ask for your help," I said. "Not as your wife. Not as your mate. Just as one person to another. I begged you to stop Simon from destroying an innocent man’s life yet you refused."
"Because I’m not going to turn on my best friend for your sake," Damien said "Simon is loyal to me. He’s family. and I don’t abandon family for someone’s friend."
"Simon had a man’s hands broken, Damien. He’ll never practice medicine again."
"That’s not my problem."
The finality in his voice made everything crystal clear. Damien knew. He knew what Simon had done, what he was capable of, and he didn’t care. He would protect his friend, his family - even if it meant letting them destroy innocent people.
"You’re just like him," I whispered. "I thought you were different. I thought maybe you had some line you wouldn’t cross. But you’re exactly the same. Both of you are monsters."
Simon laughed. "Took you long enough to figure that out." 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
I looked at all of them - Damien with his cold eyes, Simon with his smug smile, Tiffany holding on to Damien’s arm, Ashley glaring at me with pure hatred. This was Damien’s family. His real family. And I had never been part of it.
"I’m done," I said quietly. "I’m done begging. I’m done hoping you’ll suddenly grow a conscience. I’m done with all of you."
I turned and walked away. My vision blurred with tears. Behind me, I heard Ashley start to cry and Damien comforting her, telling her everything would be okay.
He’d never comforted me like that - not once.
I walked through the sand with a broken heart. My wolf was whimpering. She felt confused and hurt. The mate bond was pulling at me, trying to drag me back to Damien, but I ignored it.
I made it to the resort pathway before I ran straight into someone.
Strong hands caught my shoulders, steadying me. I looked up through my tears and froze.
Zade.
I blinked in absolute confusion.
What the -?
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"I had a feeling you were in trouble," he said simply. His eyes scanned my face, taking in the tears. "Looks like I was right."
"How did you even know where I was?"
"I have my sources." He guided me to a bench, sitting down beside me. "Want to tell me what happened?"
I told him everything - about Lance, about Simon, about Damien’s refusal to help.
When I finished, Zade was quiet for a long moment.
"I can find him," he said finally. "Lance. I have connections that can track him down, make sure he’s getting proper medical care."
I looked at him hopefully "Really?"
"Of course." Zade’s hand came up to cup my cheek. His thumb wiped away a tear. "But Sophia, everything has a price."
My stomach dropped. "What do you want?"
His eyes met mine "Spend the night with me."
