Piss Off, Alpha! You Lost Me Forever-Chapter 91 This Is Not Over
SOPHIA’S POV
I stared at Zade in shock.
He wanted one night with me in exchange for helping Lance.
My wolf didn’t like the idea. She was still bound to Damien by the mate bond even though my heart had finally let him go but what choice did I have? Damien had made it clear he wouldn’t help. Simon was destroying Lance piece by piece. And I was powerless to stop it on my own.
"Just one night?" I heard myself ask.
"Just one night," Zade confirmed. His hand was still on my cheek "I’ll make some calls tonight. By morning, we’ll know exactly where Lance is and I’ll have my people ensuring he gets the best medical care money can buy - pecialists who can try to repair the damage to his hands."
"Try?" The word caught in my throat.
"I won’t lie to you, Sophia. The damage might be permanent but I know surgeons who’ve worked miracles before. If anyone can help him, it’s them." His thumb traced my cheekbone. "But I need an answer. Yes or no?"
I closed my eyes. The mate bond was screaming at me. My wolf was screaming no inside me.
I couldn’t believe Zade wanted to sleep with me in exchange for helping Lance but this was my only hope.
If I agreed, it would destroy whatever was left between Damien and me. But was there anything left to destroy? He’d made his choice. He’d chosen Simon, chosen Tiffany, chosen everyone but me.
"Yes," I whispered.
Zade smiled, but it wasn’t a happy one. It was almost sad. "Come on. I have a suite here."
He led me through the resort to a private wing. His suite was massive—bigger than my entire apartment. Floor-to-ceiling windows overlooked the ocean, and the bedroom was separated by French doors.
I stood in the middle of the living room. My whole body shaking. My wolf was pacing inside me. She felt confused and distressed. This felt wrong. Everything about this felt wrong.
"Sophia." Zade’s voice was gentle. He’d moved to the bar and was pouring two glasses of whiskey. "We don’t have to do anything you’re not comfortable with. We can just talk if you want."
"You said-"
"I said spend the night with me. I didn’t specify what that meant." He handed me a glass. "Drink. You look like you need it."
I took the drink from him and downed the whiskey in one gulp. It burned my throat but I welcomed it.
Zade watched me carefully. "Tell me something. Why are you still fighting for a marriage that’s clearly over?"
"I’m not," I said. "Not anymore. I just filed for divorce papers before I came here."
"Then why does it hurt so much?" He moved closer. "Why can I smell your pain from across the room?"
Because of the mate bond, I wanted to say. Because even though my mind knew it was over, my wolf still recognized Damien as ours. Because breaking a mate bond was like ripping out a piece of your soul.
But I didn’t say any of that. I just shook my head.
"He doesn’t deserve you," Zade said softly. He was right in front of me now. "He never did. You’re brilliant and strong and beautiful, and he treated you like you were nothing."
"You don’t know me."
"I know enough." He stared into my eyes. He raised his hand, using his thumb to touch my lower lip. "I know you’re a doctor who cares about her patients. I know you nearly died giving birth and would have done it again for a man who didn’t appreciate the sacrifice. I know you’ve spent years being treated like a breeding tool instead of a person."
Tears burned in my eyes. "Stop."
"Why? Because it hurts to hear someone actually see you?"
He leaned in slowly, giving me time to pull away, but I didn’t. I couldn’t. I was so tired of being invisible, of being nothing, of hurting alone.
When his lips touched mine, my wolf whimpered. I kissed him back.
Zade’s arms wrapped around me, pulling me close. His kiss was different from Damien’s. It was softer, sweeter, like he actually cared about my response. One hand tangled in my hair while the other held his waist.
I felt myself sinking into his kiss. I was desperate for any kind of comfort, any kind of proof that someone wanted me.
He walked me backwards toward the bedroom with his mouth never leaving mine. My back hit the French doors and he reached around to push them open, guiding me inside.
We fell to the bed. His hands were on my zipper, sliding it down slowly. My dress was off in seconds.
This was wrong. I knew it was wrong but I couldn’t make myself stop.
Zade’s shirt came off next, then his belt. We fell onto the bed together.
"Sophia," he breathed against my neck. "Are you sure?"
I wasn’t sure of anything anymore. I just nodded.
His hands were on my skin. My eyes were closed and there were tears leaking from the corners. I didn’t know what I was doing.
Then I heard the door beep.
The suite door opened and suddenly Damien was standing in the bedroom doorway.
Time stopped.
I was on the bed in nothing but my underwear. Zade was above me, shirtless. Our clothes were on the floor.
The look on Damien’s face was something I’d never seen before. It was a look of pure rage.
"What the fuck," Damien growled.
I looked at him in total horror. What the hell was he doing here?
Zade moved faster than I thought possible. He grabbed the duvet and covered my body with it. Then he stood, facing Damien.
"I could ask you the same thing," Zade said calmly, though I could see his wolf right beneath his skin. "How did you even get in here?"
I clutched the duvet to my chest. "Damien, what are you doing here?"
Damien’s eyes scanned the room – taking in our scattered clothes, the bed, me wrapped in a sheet with another man standing protectively over me. His jaw clenched so hard I heard his teeth grind.
"What am I doing here?" he repeated. "What the fuck are you doing here?"
"What does it look like?" Zade asked"Your wife finally found someone who actually wants her."
Damien’s eyes flashed pure gold. For a second I thought he was going to shift right there in the hotel room and tear Zade apart.
"Get. Out." Damien’s voice carried so much alpha command that even I felt the urge to obey, and he wasn’t even talking to me.
"No," Zade said simply. "This is my room. You’re the one who needs to leave."
"I’m not talking to you." Damien looked at me. "Sophia, get dressed. Now."
"You don’t get to order me around anymore!" I shouted, "You don’t get to ignore me for months, refuse to help when I beg you, choose your mistress over me at every turn, and then barge in here acting like you have any right-"
"SOPHIA." The force of the command made my wolf instantly want to submit. "Get dressed and come with me. Now."
Fear shot through me. Not fear of Damien hurting me physically but fear of what he could do to Lance. He had power I didn’t have. Resources I couldn’t match. If he wanted to make Lance’s situation even worse, he could do it with one phone call.
"I need to go," I said quietly to Zade.
"You don’t have to do anything," Zade said, his eyes never leaving Damien. "He can’t force you."
"Yes I do." I climbed off the bed, keeping the duvet wrapped around me. My hands shook as I grabbed my dress from the floor. "Just... give me a minute."
I went into the bathroom and locked the door. My wolf was in complete chaos. She was torn between the mate bond pulling me toward Damien and the horror of what I’d almost done.
When I came out, both men were standing exactly where I’d left them, staring each other down.
"Sophia-" Zade started.
"Thank you for your help," I said quietly
Damien grabbed my arm the second I was within reach and pulled me toward the door.
"This isn’t over," Zade called after us.
