Pampered by My Secret Husband-Chapter 505 - 508: Let go, Thomas Shannon, you let go!
Sophie Sullivan let out a sharp scream as her lower legs sank into the sand.
"Don’t move!" Thomas Shannon grabbed her wrist. His handsome face was cold and serious, his eyes dark and intense. "Maniac, this is quicksand. Don’t move. The more you struggle, the deeper you’ll sink."
Sophie Sullivan’s face turned pale. Her eyes widened, and she looked at Thomas Shannon, utterly bewildered. Quicksand?
Before coming to the desert, she was familiar with the term. She even understood its power and knew the self-rescue methods for encountering it. But actually facing quicksand in the desert still shocked her. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
She was sinking too fast, so fast that there was no time to prepare. Her lower legs were already buried in the heavy sand. Every time she moved, her body sank a bit more. Gradually, she dared not move, heeding Thomas Shannon’s advice and standing perfectly still.
Thomas Shannon was also caught, yet he remained calm and composed, his expression unchanged.
"Are you afraid?" Thomas Shannon, still concerned about her emotional state, tried to soothe her frightened and panicked heart.
Sophie bit her lower lip and shook her head. "I’m not afraid."
"Good. Give me your hand." They weren’t far apart. Thomas Shannon stretched out his arm, encouraging her, "Maniac, give me your hand."
Sophie extended her hand. The next second, her icy fingertips were tightly gripped by a large, warm palm.
Thomas Shannon’s lips curved into a smile. "Have you forgotten what I told you? That I wouldn’t let you die here?"
"I didn’t forget." Sophie Sullivan bit her lower lip; she certainly hadn’t forgotten. She had also never forgotten the proud, determined expression on Thomas Shannon’s face when he had said those words.
"Alright. Now, do as I say." Thomas Shannon held her hand, his gaze fixed on her legs. "Now, slowly lift one leg. The slower, the better."
Following his instructions, Sophie tried to lift her leg. The leg, trapped in the sand, felt heavier with every inch she managed to raise it. As one leg was slowly raised, the other sank deeper.
Sophie’s heart pounded, panic flashing across her face.
"Don’t panic!" Thomas Shannon’s cold voice promptly soothed her. "Take it slow, and don’t make any large movements."
Sophie closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and slowly tried to lift her leg again. She tried several times but failed.
"I can’t do it! The more I try to lift one leg, the deeper the other one sinks..." Sophie was almost despairing, ready to give up. Sweat beaded on Thomas Shannon’s forehead, his thin lips pressed tightly together.
He gripped her hands, pulling her body towards his embrace.
Realizing what he intended to do, Sophie’s eyes widened. "Thomas Shannon, are you insane?!"
Thomas Shannon ignored her, holding her body firmly. "Now, lift your legs! Don’t worry about anything else. Just pull your legs out!"
"No... Thomas Shannon, why are you doing this?!" The full weight of her body pressed down on him. If she pulled her legs out, he would undoubtedly sink even further. What would he do then? Sophie dared not imagine such consequences...
"Let go, Thomas Shannon! Let go!"
"Don’t struggle!"
"Let go! I don’t want you to save me!" He was sacrificing himself to save her—how great he was! Sophie struggled to break free from his hands and embrace, but Thomas Shannon’s arms were like iron bands, tightly encircling her waist.
Regardless of whether she cooperated, he forcefully lifted her. "Maniac, listen to me. You get out first. I have a way to save myself."
