Chapter 714: Chapter 706: Family of Three (Part 7)

"Do we have glucose for injection at home?"

While Ji Anning was pondering, Xiang Yiqing had already begun discussing with the housekeeper how to treat Mr. Charles.

The housekeeper nodded, "Yes, we have basically all kinds of medicines at home."

As he spoke, he suddenly started to appear distressed, "But... Mr. Charles’s private doctor is currently not at home."

At this point, someone stepped forward, pointing at Xiang Yiqing and reminding the housekeeper, "Miss Niannian said this gentleman is a doctor, right?" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

"Right!" The housekeeper’s eyes lit up, and he immediately ordered Charles to be carried inside, "Quickly take Mr. Charles back to his room."

Then he continued with a flood of words asking Xiang Yiqing for help.

By the time Xiang Yiqing and Ji Anning followed them to Mr. Charles’s room, the servants had already wheeled in an extraordinarily large medicine chest into Charles’s room; it was the largest medicine chest Ji Anning had ever seen, without exception.

Inside were all kinds of medicines and equipment, meticulously organized.

"Wow, it’s really well-stocked," Xiang Yiqing couldn’t help but exclaim as he looked at it briefly before following it into Charles’s room.

Ji Anning’s steps followed behind him, slowly approaching the room.

This was her first time entering Charles’s room. It wasn’t as luxurious as she had imagined, but rather had a somewhat outdated feel to it. The first thing that captivated her was the small garden-like balcony, filled with vibrant and colorful flowers.

Why did Charles like flowers so much, love colors?

As Ji Anning pondered, she walked further into the room. The servants who had brought Charles in had already left, and at this moment, the room was only occupied by the housekeeper and Xiang Yiqing—even Charles’s two bodyguards were just standing guard outside the door.

Ji Anning entered the bedroom and her gaze fell on Charles, who was lying on the bed. Her eyes unintentionally swept over a framed photograph on his nightstand. At a glance, she saw a woman in the picture, which drew her attention. Her gaze returned to that photograph.

She couldn’t help but inwardly admire the beauty of the woman in the photo.

Her beauty, exquisite as jade, could topple a city with a smile.

Looking at the woman in the colorful cheongsam in the photograph, the phrase that flashed through her mind described a beauty with a natural charm that even the photoshopped images of internet celebrities couldn’t replicate.

Her feet, as if drawn by some force, moved closer to the nightstand. She bent down slightly to get a better look at the woman in the photograph, which had a date in the bottom right corner, dating back twenty-nine years ago.

The woman in the photo looked to be no more than eighteen or nineteen at the time, and although the photo was very old, it was well preserved.

Ji Anning’s gaze then returned to the woman’s facial features in the photo; suddenly she felt a sense of déjà vu, a familiar sensation.

"No good, let’s do it again."

Xiang Yiqing suddenly spoke from behind, interrupting Ji Anning’s train of thought. She turned her head asking, "What happened?"

Xiang Yiqing was holding the IV needle, trying to find a vein on Charles. Ji Anning noticed several bleeding spots on the back of Charles’s hand that Xiang Yiqing was holding.

Clearly, he had made more than one attempt.

"Sir, haven’t you found it yet?" Mr. Charles’s housekeeper seemed to weigh his words for quite some time before he finally asked Xiang Yiqing; looking at Xiang Yiqing, doubt flickered in his eyes.

"The veins are too fine and hard to locate," Xiang Yiqing replied as he kept adjusting the pillow under Charles’s hand. The moment the needle pierced the skin, he did it with a firm stroke, and even Ji Anning felt the pain just by looking.

After it was done, Xiang Yiqing looked up at the IV tube to see the liquid dripping, then he turned to the housekeeper with a slight smile and said, "It’s done now."
