Pampered by My Ex's Cousin-Chapter 700 - 692: We Are Close Uncle and Nephew (Part 20)
Her thoughts always wandered when she wasn’t paying attention.
A knock at the door pulled her back to reality, and she responded to the doorway, "Come in."
The door opened and the young maid stood at the entrance, respectfully saying to her, "Miss Niannian, Mr. Charles is calling for you to come downstairs."
Ji Anning didn’t think much about it and nodded first, "Okay."
She didn’t know what Charles wanted her for but knew she would find out once she went downstairs. She put down her coffee and hurried down.
"Move all this out."
In a room near the staircase, Mr. Charles’s deputy housekeeper was directing a group of people, moving in large and small packages. Ji Anning walked by, merely out of curiosity, and glanced inside.
The deputy housekeeper nodded slightly to her, "Miss Niannian."
"Is someone moving in?" Ji Anning casually asked.
The deputy housekeeper smiled in response, "Yes, the new Mrs. Charles has returned. Mr. Charles asked us to clear this room for the new lady to stay in; these are all her belongings."
The new lady... Ji Mingyue!
She furrowed her brow, startled, and guessed what was happening. She rushed down the stairs, rubbing the steps as she looked towards the living room. There was Charles, in a dark grey suit, gently smiling at the woman sitting beside him, still holding an apple he was peeling.
Ji Anning’s steps came to a halt, her fingers tightening around the handrail she was holding.
"Anning has come down."
Suddenly, Charles’s gaze turned towards her and he said with a faint smile to Ji Mingyue sitting beside him.
Fearing that Ji Mingyue might lose control of her emotions upon seeing her, Anning instinctively wanted to hide. But then she thought, she couldn’t always avoid her.
So she looked over, meeting Ji Mingyue’s gaze head-on.
As Anning had expected, Ji Mingyue’s expression immediately darkened upon seeing her, and she said to Charles beside her, "Make her leave."
Charles reached out and gently stroked her head, "Niannian is here to attend our wedding; she’s your family. How can you ask her to leave?"
"Either kill her or make her roll out." Ji Mingyue pushed Charles’s hand away.
In her heart, she held nothing for this man but hate, nothing but pure hate.
But her mood today was not as uncontrollable as Anning had imagined. She descended the stairs, attempting to approach her, "Auntie."
Ji Mingyue coldly looked away, "Don’t call me that; I have nothing to do with you."
At this moment, the deputy housekeeper came down from upstairs and reported to Charles, "Mr. Charles, the lady’s room is ready."
Before Charles could respond, Ji Mingyue interrupted, "I want to go back to my room."
With that, she reached out to pull her wheelchair over, pressing her hands against the armrest and struggling to shift herself onto it.
Seeing this, Anning quickly went to help her, but before her hand could touch Ming Yue’s arm, she was swept aside by a dismissive gesture, "Anning, I don’t want to see you. Vanish from my sight."
As she continued to struggle into the wheelchair, Charles stood by without any intention of assisting.
Watching Ji Mingyue’s forehead beaded with sweat, her gaunt face turning red with the strenuous effort, yet still stubbornly and resolutely struggling, Anning’s eyes began to feel warm.
She had no real affection for Ji Mingyue; they had only gained a slight fondness for each other a few months earlier.
Yet witnessing this scene, she couldn’t help but feel heartache and couldn’t bear to watch any longer; she turned her back.
Finally, Ji Mingyue settled herself in the wheelchair and steered it towards the elevator.
Anning made several attempts to lift her foot but ultimately did not follow.
